The second Anima Antiqua release for 2025 is the Gassmann Tarot. I like how the series is turning its attention towards the Marseille, releasing two decks in as many years after a long spell of only offering the 1760 Conver.

Received my Tarot de Marseille: Gassmann today, #3398! I ordered this one from Amazon, so I'm guessing you received yours already, gregory!

Weird - it didn't' appear on the LS site so I bought one from amazon too.

Yeah, well, I've been pre-ordering them on Amazon.com since the last time (in 2022, I think?), both sets cost me twice as much because of import taxes, customs, and the conversion to Canadian dollars. It was way too expensive. I've never had a problem with Amazon and they always arrive on time.

Nice!!! Thank you for the update! I'm very glad they picked this one for the next batch. I made my own version in 2020, but I'll gladly add this one to the collection. Not sure why they put "1880 CA" as this deck was created in 1788 (or 1789 like mentioned in the text). Also, lets hope the cards don't have rounded corners like the preview...

 

There is three versions based on this model (Etteilla I) and I think they have chosen the best of the three. Now, lets hope they release an Etteilla II (1938) and an Etteilla III (1870) decks in the future!

But I'm surprised that they include decks that aren't Tarot/Tarocchi/Tarocchino!

They publish all sorts of decks, so why not this one ? It is historically significant !

Yes, but all the decks from the Anima Antiqua line, to date, were reproductions of Tarot, Tarocchi or Tarocchino decks.

Lenormand is very far from these systems. Previously, Lo Scarabeo released historical oracle and cartomancy decks with their "Old Cartomancy" line, so I would have been less surprised if this one was included in the Old Cartomancy line.

But I'm not complaining, I love the original Lenormand look, I'm just surprised!

Your comment reminded me of my Antica Cartomanzia @Morsoth. I posted them in the appropriate thread so as not to veer away from the topic here.

Just one caveat: as can be gleaned from its very name, this grand jeu lenormand is different from the petit jeu lenormand that most currently recognize. While the latter does not include the 2's, 3's, 4's, and 5's in a playing card deck resulting in only 36 cards, the former includes all 52 cards plus a pair of significators. Their images and elements are entirely different. I don't want anyone to purchase it because they mistook it for a Lenny.
