A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you

Ooo, Tarot of the New Vision!  That should be fun!

This week for me will be the next storybook illustration-based deck, Tarot of Tales and Legends, created from the art of Henry Justice Ford, another Lo Scarabeo deck.  Ford is known for illustrating the Lang color-coded fairy books.  The art looks more colorful and less delicate than the Dulac.  The titles seem a bit overpowering and not very pleasing, but I guess they’re necessary because of the ratios of the art?  I seem to be able to identify more stories in this one, but we’ll see about that!

Interview time!

Ok, lots of wands!

What is your most important characteristic?  I Wands

The deck is all about taking action and new actions for new experiences.  Not sure what the magpie is telling the woman?

What is your strength?  VI Wands

Bellerophon and Pegasus versus the Chimera

The deck is about conflict, but mostly winning.  It’s a deck of (recognizable) heroes.

What is your weakness?  The Hermit

St. Francis preaching to the birds

Other people might not like it as much as I do.  It speaks to me but maybe not anyone else.  It’s best for personal readings, not for others.  (Even though many of the scenes are recognizable.)

What can you teach me?  VI Cups

It can teach me more stories from bygone days.  And how to share stories in an emotionally satisfying way.

How can I learn it?  IV Wands

By getting together and gossiping with friends, but keeping an eye open for friends we haven’t met yet!

What will be the outcome of our work together?  X Wands

It will be busy, even frenetic, but enlightening in the end.

Looks promising so far!

My moon affirmation reading for today is in my journal.

An artist friend of mine has a little store in town with - among other things also quite a few Tarot decks.

Today I brought her a bunch of our jewellery pieces to sell, to help her out a bit. As a thank you she gave me a deck, the Urban Crow Oracle.

It is from the same artist that created the Crow Tarot - MJ Cullinane.

I quite like the deck ♥

The images are well thought out, the card stock is sturdy the color pallet has an autumn feel to it.

For the remainder of the week, this will be my deck.

This week I'll be working with one of my favorite decks, the Sol Invictus: The God Tarot.

Thank you Fire cat! Hope you are out of Idalia's path.

This week I'll be using the Tarot of the Crone, a book and deck set created and self-published by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince. I'll be pairing it with Transforming Dragons, a set created by Sonia Cafe and published by Weiser. Today's cards are the Beast of Swords and Cerbeu:

There is no point in using the word 'impossible' to describe something that has clearly happened.
― Douglas Adams

What traditionally is called the Page of Swords, Lorenzi-Prince instead gives the name 'Beast' to describe the primal, wild expression of this element. The crow makes me think of the saying, "as the crow flies," meaning taking the shortest route rather than longer, well-traveled roads. Yet the quick and impatient way means missing out on a lot of knowledge and experience that could lead to wisdom. Worse still, we might assume that what we've learned is completely accurate, without realizing it's just one facet of the whole. Cerbeu represents ignorance, meaning the true nature of things is hidden through denial, delusion or a lack of information. But if we perceive ourselves as holding only one grain of knowledge compared to all that is available, we might become willing to listen and learn in order to add to our inventory.
