Welcome back everyone!

I'll be working with the Rosenwald this week, I wish I could say "again..." I have been under the weather 😞 I even neglected to add @Akhilleus to the list last week but it's now been edited. But he's first on the list this week already since he said he's working with it this round 🙂

Hi, Fire cat!  I hope you're feeling better.  Rosenwald, that's a fun one, too!  I like all your choices!

This week sees the end of the Moon Magick affirmations (Tuesday and Wednesday) and is also the last week for golden age of illustration decks.  I’ll be using the Lo Scarabeo Fairy Oracle with illustrations by Arthur Rackham and booklet of keywords and interps by Jaymi Elford.  36 cards.  As you see, the cards are numbered as keyed to the booklet, so we can use the keywords or not, which I think is a good choice for these illustrations.

I’m not sure how it will work with the affirmations; we’ll see.  But first, an interview!

I read the illustrations first and then went back to put in the keywords.

What is your most important characteristic?  Personal Celebration

Baby sitting on a mushroom plays the panpipes for the fairies to dance.

The deck is mostly about fun and play, and the interaction between fairies and humans.

What is your strength?  Flights of Fancy

A fairy with insect wings flies over the forest with a baby on her back.

Fairies and humans are stronger together.  The deck projects innocence and openness to new experiences.

Your weakness?  Gossip

A boy and girl play in the forest, not noticing the fairy hiding behind a tree.

Sometimes the fairies, and their meanings, are difficult to see.  But that could be because I’m not looking carefully enough.

What can you teach me?  Offerings

The water goblins are offering a fancy chalice to a young woman on the river bank.

Not everything woo and esoteric is good.  I should be wary, but I also shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

How can I learn it?  Night Watch

Creepy fairies march on the rocky mountainside while ghostly, witchy ones fly above.

Same as above.  Trust but verify.  But also go forward.  Don’t let the fact that I should be careful stop me for moving toward more knowledge.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Christening

A mother and baby and other ladies gather flowers on the pond shore with helpful fairies, serenaded by a fairy musical group.

We will work well together and gather some pretty insights, but we will stay separate.  It will be a temporary collaboration.

We’ll skip an affirmation reading today (Monday) so the cards match up with the end of the month, Dark Moon, on Wednesday.

I'm sorry you've been under the weather, Fire cat, and hope you're feeling better now!

This week I'll be using the Neuzeit Tarot created by Walter Wegmuller and published by AG Muller. The 'oracle' I'll be using is a combination of two sets of Rory's Story Cubes - the original and Voyages set. These dice were created by Rory O'Connor and produced by Gamewright. Today's card and die are the Queen of Cups and Turtle:

I think instead [of happiness] we should be working for contentment... an inner sense of fulfillment that's relatively independent of external circumstances.
― Andrew Weil

The Queen of Cups fills her own cup with her own hand; she doesn't demand that people, jobs or events entertain and emotionally fulfill her. She would agree with James Oppenheim: "The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet." She understands that this kind of growing requires effort and a watchful eye on the direction of her thoughts. Happiness comes and goes, but contentment can be found if the heart is not focused on one thing or person but opens to the expanse of life. Turtle is a reminder to slow down and enjoy the waters one is swimming in - they will change soon enough.

Thanks a mil! And yup, it's the Deviant Moon for me again this week.

Maybe it's the season, but I had some colds and cough last week. Had no choice but to muscle through them with some syrup and menthol candies, and now I feel very spry. I hope you're in a much better shape now too @fire cat pickles.

Golden Wheel Spread on the Question: Will I get a new volunteer job assignment?

IMG_0822.thumb.jpg.e115f95541d2fc6fe0dcd6846d2c37c2.jpg

Past Present Future:

6 swords, Page Cups, Chariot

Passage away from difficulties, Being more emotionally open, Chariot is overcoming problems with a supervisor by staying on focus.

These all resonate with what's happening.

Advice of the cards:

5 swords. There's some drama and strife in the community itself. People really get their knickers in a twist. There's also drama in my own mind. Do I even want a new job assignment? It's the one negative card in an otherwise positive spread. Is it warning that the "devil you know is better than the devil you don't know"...?  Hmmm.

Self and Others:

Wheel of Fortune. A stalker card. I seem to be getting stalkers during this time with 3 planets in retrograde.. I got WoF in the Future position last Tuesday using Sufi tarot. Now it is in the Self position. One way or another things are changing for the better. Either with a different approach to same position or a new posiition. Jupiter is retrograde from Sept 4- Dec 31. The possible transfer would be to bookkeeping which is work I've done before.

Ace Cups : Something happening in fall. I would read the Ace as a new position ... except for Priestess as the Outcome card.

It's also the class I teach here in October. But that wasn't part of the question.

Outcome:

Priestess is a person and a situation. As the outcome card, Priestess is "future is unknown".

She's another stalker card. She's been in every personal spread for the past 2 weeks.

Priestess is also the director here. She's dealing with strife right now ... anything could happen. Apparently I'm not the only one struggling with job issues. Jobs are changing, transitions are happening ... not just for me but also other people. She doesn't know how to sort it all out yet.

Hi @Misterei! So glad you've joined us again, it's been a while 🙂 Welcome!

As you know, the DoW Group is a fun and enlightening way to share how your decks can work for others, to highlight new or unique reading techniques and spreads, and perhaps to introduce new decks for other members.

That's one great-looking deck @Misterei. Glad you joined us!

@Akhilleus

Thanks. Golden Wheel is hand painted with water colors ... it's eye candy but also reads great for me.

Speaking of which ... how are you finding Deviant Moon?

I LOVE this deck ... I have both versions ... but it's a mixed bad vis a vis reading it. I'm starting to feel it only works for topics that are more on the shadow side of things. When I use it for a regular ol' spread ... it's meh. But it's been quite profound with deep down in the darkness topics.

Is it the same for you?

Different?

I'm glad that you liked the Deviant Moon too @Misterei.

This is the first time that I've truly focused on working with the deck, so I haven't worked intensively with it yet. In the getting-to-know stage, I mostly subject a deck to simple readings like daily draws, try to apply the author's intended meanings to it vis-a-vis my personal interpretation of the card, and see how it goes. I must say tho, the meanings in the LWB and in the (heavy!) companion book are quite different. Not in the sense that they're antithetical, but in that they seem to explore very different aspects for interpretation. I'm having fun with it though.

That said, since you mentioned that it works great for you when you use it to perform shadow readings, then I'll see if the book has any dark spreads that appeal to me. Maybe I can read with it before the week ends.

@Akhilleus OMG I totally mis-spoke!. The deck I have is Triunfi della Luna ... same artist ... oops. Extreme chagrin for confusing these decks.
