A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

I'm like the Feng Shui Tarot - and it (or its system) seems to be giving you great readings!

I'm in with the Sacred India Tarot paired with the Land Sky Oracle.

Hi all!  This week will be another of my holiday shopping gains, Heckadeck Playing Cards, an expanded deck of playing cards.

The additional cards are:

Four Jokers

Four additional suits: Knives, Acorns, Clouds, Planets

Additional ranks: 0, 11, Beast, Hunter, Traveler, Arrow, Talisman

(Adding up to 8 suits and 8 court ranks.)

Kind of majors: Darkness, Conjurer, Omnihedron, Watcher, Whatever You Want

So that’s a LOT of cards!

My divination brain when into high gear with the extra suits, but they seem heavy on air: knives and clouds to go with spades/swords. Acorns are clubs/wands/fire in German-suited decks. I guess planets could be earth to go with diamonds/coins. So I need to make clouds water to go with hearts/cups?  What doesn't help is that the booklet suit interp suggestions seem heavy on fire!

Booklet also gives divi interps for ranks and unsuited cards.  I will probably turn to them when reading.  The question is do I have to make a new keyword table for the all the additional number+suit meanings?  See why I didn’t want to get into this when I was working on another project?  I guess I’ll just play with it this week and get deeply into it later on.

Ok, interview time!

What is your most important characteristic?  The Omnihedron

This is arguably the best/highest card in the deck, like a World card.

The deck can be anything and everything I want it to be.  I will eventually read with it successfully.

What is your strength?  3 Clouds

I’ve tentatively come up with clouds=inner water=emotions

It will let me put my own feelings (clouds) into it, and will help my express (3) those feelings.

Your weakness?  Ace of Acorns

Acorns=inner fire=creativity

It’s going to take a lot of creativity and energy to get it to where I want it.

What can you teach me?  6 Diamonds

It can teach me that having a lot (of cards) is a good thing!

How can I learn it?  7 Hearts

I can share its many opportunities with others, and maybe they will have helpful feedback.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  6 Hearts

The deck and I will have a real emotional connection.

Well, we’ll see about that!  But yeah, I probably won’t be able to resist the challenge of working on interps for all the cards!

For this week I will delve into the new Lord of the Rings Tarot.    As a Tolkien nerd and member of the Tolkien Society and a bunch of other nerdy reasons, this should be interesting and fun.

On first glance, I love the wood-cut look of the deck.  But we shall see, my precious, we shall see.

This week I am beginning my study of the Cirque du Tarot.  It's not a deck that I would have chosen for myself.  My friend/client/student K gifted this to me.  She particular likes circuses and the idea of performance so it reads very well for her.  Also she shares with me that many of the meanings in the LWB are different than usual and more upbeat and positive.  I'm always looking forward to learning more.

It was the Gimli and Thorin learn to work together card that just did me in.  I have the entire History of Middle Earth here, plus all kinds of other amazing references, and those two did not need to learn to work together.

There's been many complaints around the forum @Chiska about that publisher, who were a stationary company and bought the licensing of numerous popular brands and then made tarot decks with their official licence, but they weren't the best 😞 . Many of them also don't have properly illustrated minors 😞 . Now you can get the ring binder, pencil case, blank journal book and tarot deck from a whole load of popular franchises with them. Their decks are mixed in quality and understanding tarot!
