Bodhiseed Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 Thank you Fire cat! I'm in this week with Songs for the Journey Home and the Magic Neko Deck. From the Songs for the Journey Home, Second Wave Song (Two of Cups); from the Magic Neko Cards, the Eight of Diamonds: Love is like a brick. You can build a house, or you can sink a dead body. ~Lady Gaga This gushing fountain is topped by two cherubs. In the early versions of Greek mythology, Eros was portrayed as a cosmic force that brought people together which often led to tragedy. Gradually, he was brought under the control of Aphrodite, who allowed him to create relationships but without his chaotic impulses. By the time the Romans acquired the story, Eros had become Cupid, a cherubic little boy who followed his mother’s wishes to make people fall in love. I'm about to celebrate a 35th anniversary tomorrow, and our marriage has had the ups and downs like the story of Eros. Thankfully we both matured, and moved from being 'in love' to knowing how to love on a daily basis. The Two of Cups is a fortuitous meeting; what we do from there is up to us. The Eight of Diamonds shows a cat playing a video game and represents competition. Any relationship based on one person winning and the other losing will never have a happy ending.
Rachelcat Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 Hi folks! @BodhiseedCan't beat a kitty playing a video game! And I like how you linked the cards together so easily! This week for me will be another Minoan deck, Minoan Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince, creator of the Dark Goddess Tarot (my go-to goddess deck). The booklet has a foreword by Rachel Pollack, along with sections on the Minoans, their religion, and the labrys (the back illustration). Each card has a title (not so much a keyword), and each card description includes “messages from the [title].” Some majors are renamed. Suits are Earth, Sea, Sky, and Art. Courts are Worker, Priestess, Master, and Mistress (again implying female ranks are higher than male). On to the interview! What is your most important characteristic? Sky Master (King of Swords) The deck is an intellectual tour de force. It controls the narrative like the king controls the ducks. What is your strength? Sky Four The birds and their eggs are save in their nest and don’t want to go elsewhere at least yet. As with the previous card, the deck’s strength is its intelligence and its adherence to its theme. It’s a closed system in a good way. Your weakness? Sky Ten It might be a bit too airy and cerebral, floating high above us “regular” tarotists! What can you teach me? Strength It can teach me to be strong in my own ideas and systems. She hasn’t just tamed the lion, she’s taking it forward to where she wants to go. How can I learn it? Ancestor (Death) Let go of what doesn’t work and keep what does. Test the system to the breaking point and see what survives. Offer it as a complement to the tradition, not as a revolutionary rejection of tradition. What will be the outcome of our work together? Art Mistress (Queen of Wands) I don’t know if I want to be served wine by a jacked-up giant ant, but . . . ! We will work together well, and the deck will help me take control of it in order to use it well (relates to Strength). Well, this seems to hang together! We’ll see how it goes this week.
Luned Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 I'm in with the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Tarot this week. It's a new acquisition for me, and it comes with a guidebook that's a bit more substantial than a LWB, still fairly small size-wise (a bit bigger than the cards & 128 pages long) but makes up for it in Buffy-themed sass. If you hate purple then this isn't the deck for you.
Bodhiseed Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 (edited) @Rachelcat, I LOVE the artwork on Lorenzi-Prince's decks! I don't have the one you're using, so thanks for the eye-candy. Edited March 19, 2024 by Bodhiseed
Mi-Shell Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Oh well... Just mentioning, that I am still enjoying my Guardians of Night Tarot 🙂 However, this will be my last week with it. I have 3 new decks to open and discover!
Mi-Shell Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Hi @Bodhiseed! It is nice to see the Songs for the Journey Home !♥ This is a deck where I have the regular and the mini version. The mini is a permanent resident in our motor home and gets a lot of use during our trips 🙂
Mi-Shell Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Hi! It is now March 27th - at least in Canada.? Did someone eat our @fire cat pickles? If yes, I hope he tasted good! Anyway... This coming week I will try out this new deck I got as s gift: World Shamans Oracle by Francesca Matteoni with artwork by AmarilliSoriente. The artwork looks quite modern - to 68 year oooooold me. The cards depict a few Animals, some plants, some significant items or locals like Altar or Drum or Lower World and a number of practitioners well known by westerners like Maria Sabina and Sarangerel and NilsAslakValkerapää. I am curious, what I will read in the little book, that goes with the deck. @fire cat pickles Just in case you re-emerge, please ad this to your new thread!♥
fire cat pickles Posted March 27, 2024 Author Posted March 27, 2024 @Mi-Shell Oh geez did it happen again??? Comin right up!
