sweeneyish Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Hi everyone, long time no see! I’m in, restarting with my two go to decks - Deviant Moon and Mildred Payne‘s Secret Oracle. Happy to be back.
fire cat pickles Posted April 29, 2024 Author Posted April 29, 2024 Blast from the past! Welcome back @sweeneyish 🙂
sweeneyish Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Thanks @fire cat pickles - very nice to see you! My reading for today - supplementing Mildred's Secret Oracle with Deviant Moon. Generally, I find I'm not very apt at combining decks, and that is probably true in this reading. I may just alternate the decks one by one for the rest of the week, but I can judge at the end of the day if any of this reading comes to fruition. I asked the Secret Oracle "What Will I Encounter Today?", and after reading that, asked the Deviant Moon for clarification on the reading with single card. Here's what it looked like in the end: Chalice: Celebration, Abundance, Dreams, Aspirations. Blood: Life. Vitality. Sacrifice. Heritage. Ancestry. Candle: Life. Enlightenment. Hope For the initial three cards, I read this as there being a celebration today, in particular, a celebration of life, especially considering both "Blood" and "Candle" can have this meaning of life. It may also read that the celebration today will require some sacrifice and some pain. I find this is true of most successes in life. If I read it that way - a sacrifice opens up the door to celebration, leading to further enjoyment of life and enlightenment. For the Deviant Moon draw, I drew the Two of Wands. In this particular deck, the Two of Wands shows hard work powered by unification of forces and creativity. This particular character is a farmer working in a field - a hard job that certainly requires sacrifice. So this might support my second reading of the three cards above. I have two big areas that require sacrifice in my life right now - my practice as a Buddhist, and, perhaps in complete juxtaposition, my brazilian jiu jitsu practice. As a Buddhist, one aim is realizing selflessness, and the destruction of ego, which helps one to find the abundance of life available in helping others. This could support the reading, although that's pretty intense work for one day! I have a competition this coming week for jiu jitsu, and a practice tonight. It is painful, hard work, and I literally have my own blood stained on my belt, so perhaps this points to the hard work and sacrifice required physically to practice. Finally, a little bonus sharing - Patrick Valenza has a package available where you can purchase the Deviant Moon and he wraps it in paper that he hand draws a custom design on. It's pretty cool.
Rachelcat Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 @fire cat pickles, Thanks for leading us past and present! We all really appreciate it! @sweeneyish, good to see you here! For me, this week will be Wild Harmonic Divination Deck by Gabe Marihugh. I have the indie version dated 2016. It is now published by Schiffer under the name Wild Harmonic Oracle. This is a repeat as a deck of the week, but I’m coming back to it because Gabe held a free Zoom class on the deck on Sunday. The class was a bit too woo for me, but I'm still willing to give the deck a try. It’s a round deck kind of based on chakras. It consists of 8 realms or chakras combined with an “of” with keywords. See attached table list. This version gives an “inquiry” for each card on extra cards. The published deck looks like it has a more substantial booklet. I quite like the art. Interview time! What is your most important characteristic? Celestial of Earth, Body Wisdom The deck helps connect civilization’s understanding to my body and my lived experience. What is your strength? Fire of Shadow, Snuffed Out A strength of the deck is that it acknowledges negatives, absence. Including loss of will. Your weakness? Earth of Air, Wise Craft Maybe it focuses too much on acting and doing, less on psychological help. What can you teach me? Dimensional of Fire, Infinite Expressions It can teach me how to act on higher levels. How can I learn it? Earth of Celestial, Radical Potential Realize the potential. Higher levels are as real as the physical. What will be the outcome of our work together? Spirit of Air, Immune System The deck will help me protect myself? Not sure this is going to work. Things are seeming a bit too nebulous for me. I’ll keep working on it! Wild Harmonic Divination Deck.pdf
Misterei Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 @Rachelcat not a huge fan of oracles for the reasons you mention in general ... but I DO love a round deck. Thanks for the pix!
DanielJUK Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Nice to see you back around the place @sweeneyish 🥰 welcome back 🙏
Natural Mystic Guide Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 I'm back. It's been weeks of studying the Cirque du Tarot and just carving out the time to do a proper New Deck Interview. Perhaps that can happen this week!

I'm hoping to finish off the draft I have in my journal in the morning. Welcome back!
Guest Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 I'm joining this week with the Tarocchi Sola Busca, the Anima Antiqua edition. I so missed this place!
fire cat pickles Posted April 30, 2024 Author Posted April 30, 2024 Welcome back @Akhilleus 🙂 I just got the Tarocchi Sola Busca Anima Antiqua from @FindYourSovereignty and am waiting for it in the mail. It should be here Thursday!

sweeneyish Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 My Mildred reading rang very true, though not in the way I expected yesterday - I had a few victories in my class (Chalice), but woke up in the middle of the night with lots of pain from my battles (Blood) - but it gave me a bit of hope (Candle) that I'm slowly progessing in my practice. The Deviant Moon draw didn't contribute too much in this case - I think I'll just stick to Mildred for the rest of the week. Hopefully this one doesn't turn out too accurate, or I'm just missing the bright side of the reading: Fears or nightmarish visions (Hag) explode into action (Volcano) resulting in punishment, pain, or a need for discipline (Scourge). Since this was so very negative, I then asked "What will help me through this today?" and pulled Lighthouse, which can represent strength to weather a storm, something to help navigate, and spiritual growth. Let's see how the day goes!
Misterei Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 @sweeneyish reminds me of a dentist I once had who advised me to pray when the procedure got quite painful 🤣

Misterei Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 @fire cat pickles I'm late to the party ... but mt Purple Dragon mini lenormand just arrived in the post. So I'm in with the new deck.
fire cat pickles Posted April 30, 2024 Author Posted April 30, 2024 Welcome back @Misterei! I'm later too, in a sense. I'm switching over to the François Héri, Solothurn 1718 TdM for my Card-A-Day deck. I really need a TdM for a daily right now. I'm not exactly done with the Etteilla, though. I'm still studying it and will be looking at meaning card by card in the Club, just not focusing on reading with it at the moment. Anyone heard from @Bodhiseed???

Guest Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Thanks for the welcome @fire cat pickles! And just how timely is this? Hope you'd have a great time reading with the deck too. Lo Scarabeo's retouches grew on me and now I actually prefer them, since they set the AA edition apart from other releases. Plus they're quite well done. Once your fingers begin sliding across the mottled maroon backs with the slightest suggestion of a rasp, you just feel at home. ☺

I just ordered the Lilac Dondorf from the Cartomancer a few days ago - very much looking forward to its arrival. @fire cat pickles I had a sudden explosion of interest in all my TdM decks over the past few days - I’ve been rereading some of my books on TdM, looking over my Dodal and Noblet decks…Definitely something in the air that is pointing me towards them right now.
Bodhiseed Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Thank you for your concern, Fire cat! My husband collapsed at home last Saturday and was rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, after four days there, he is now home. This week I'll be using the Swietlistej Drogi Tarot (Tarot of the Radiant Path), created by Alla Alicja Chrzanowska and published by Studio Astropsychologii. I'll also be drawing from the oracle Mirrors of the Heart, created and self-published by Lily S. May. Today's draws are the Queen of Pentacles and Helping: Asking for help is never a sign of weakness. It's one of the bravest things you can do. ~Lily Collins This Queen seems to be infusing each gift basket with a compassionate wish for well-being to its recipient. Her assistant, with one gift already in hand, waits patiently. As Rosalyn Carter reminded us, we either have been a caregiver, are currently one, will be one, or will need one. We all be asked to help provide for the needs of another at some point, in a small or large way. My husband has been in the hospital for the last four days with a life-threatening infection (but is now home). Sometimes we are required to step up to the challenge life presents us. But this is what I've found - Love makes all loads lighter.
