A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Participants

  1. fire cat pickles: Dame Fortune's Wheel
  2. Rachelcat: Afterlight Tarot

So late! Honorable Memorial Day for those who celebrated. Worked yesterday and just got off work an hour or so ago...

I am with the DFWT again, with some success. If you want to read along you'll have to join the Card-A-Day Club 😉 (shameless plug)

Hi, @fire cat pickles!  Don't you hate it when work gets in the way of tarot??!!  I did this intro on the Monday holiday:

I’m so excited because I just got my Kickstarter bunch:  Afterlight Tarot, Afterlight Lenormand, and Urban Incantations Lenormand, all by Lynyrd-Jym Narciso, Paralumen Studio.  This week will be the Afterlights.  (I already have Urban Incantations Tarot, so that will be a repeat next week with the Lenormand added.)

The art style for both sets is pointillist/expressionist.  Urban Incantations has a more limited palette and gives a grunge vibe (appropriate for urban), while Afterlight is colorful.

The tarots have a Happy Squirrel.  The Lenormands are poker-sized decks with the usual Lenormand cards plus extra man, woman, and child cards, along with a set of zodiac signs.

So at least I know some spreads I’ll be using this week:  more magic square readings (numerological with tarot + Lenormand) and Sabian Symbols (zodiac signs + Lenormand cards 1-30).  But first, separate tarot and Lenormand interviews!

Interviews!  The tarot:

What is your most important characteristic?  Ace of Pentacles

Nicely combines coins with nature.

The deck is mostly about its physical nature and beauty.

What is your strength?  Seven of Swords

Well, this is scary!

It can reveal deceit and danger?

Your weakness?  Two of Pentacles

Time and place.  Love it.

Its most important characteristic is its weakness.  It draws focus more to the art than the usefulness.  (Which this card makes me disagree with!  It’s not just pretty, it’s also thoughtful and clever!)

What can you teach me?  Queen of Cups

She looks like she’s underwater surrounded by fish large and small.

The Queen of Cups is stalking me!  The deck can teach me to open up to intuition more.

How can I learn it?  Eight of Pentacles

Another clever one:  The pentacles are balls of yarn being made into something useful by patient and practiced work.

I can learn about using my intuition by working at it.  It doesn’t just happen on its own.  Not for me anyway!

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Six of Pentacles

Very similar to the ace, but here we see the recipients of the bounty.

My appreciation of the physicality of the deck will mature into a more nuanced appreciation.  I will share my appreciation with you!

Lenormand and Zodiac Oracle:  All cards including extra people cards and zodiac cards.

What is your strength?  Cross

If I trust the deck, it will work (faith).  It can tell uncomfortable truths (hardship).

Your weakness?  Capricorn

This Capricorn is a fish with a goat’s head rather than a goat with a fish’s tail!

It’s just different enough to be confusing.  It isn’t good for reading about accomplishments or goals.

What can I learn from you?  Clouds

I can learn that life is a mix of good and bad that we have to live with.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Woman

Even though this isn’t a very positive set of cards, the deck will speak directly to me if I let it.

Welcome back @Rachelcat! Yes, I do dislike when I get too busy at work. Part of the problem is losing track of what day of the week it is working 24-hour days 🤣

I'm using the Russian Lubok paired with the Marseille Oracle this week. Thanks Fire cat!
