Part 2 (the decan in daily life, and Meleen is finishing the last chapter of the book.)

RWS, Thoth, Tabula Mundi, Telos Tarot of 777

Excerpt:

Quote

In the Rider Waite Smith deck, the female figure is bound and blindfolded, surrounded by swords. In the Thoth deck, eight blades of different types form a sort of blocking grid. In Tabula Mundi Tarot, the lion and eagle of the Lovers card are entangled in thread from a bobbin-like circle of swords.
In the Telos Tarot of 777 drawing, there are also eight differing swords, placed directly in front of the rider, forming a hurdle she must leap or go around. Make a choice!...

Gemini is all about choices, and here with Jupiter's expansive effect, the number of choices can become overwhelming.

8 of Swords
The Lovers for Gemini
Fortune/Wheel of Fortune for Jupiter

RWS King of Swords/Thoth Knight of Swords - (decans are Taurus 3, Gemini1, and Gemini 2)

The Magus - Mercury for all of the 8s
Page/Princess of Disks for all of Spring (Aries, Taurus, & Gemini)

The blindfold on the RWS and Telos -- In readings for myself, it often points to options I'm not even considering yet, because of my preconceived ideas or assumed limitations. Tends to be worry or pessimism stopping me from seeing the full picture. With this card I realize there are even more choices available than I thought, which can feel overwhelming like in the above excerpt, but can also provide better options, which goes along with what the full post at TM says about Jupiter's influence.

Had a chance to lay out cards and take a good look last night. (Forgive the quality. No matter what size or file type or resolution I try, I can't get it to show up clearly. )

A couple of things stand out. The Noblet 8S looks harmonious to me, but it is a thick barrier surrounding the flower. The SKT has the RWS woman but with swords in front inspired by the Thoth configuration, giving a sense of being stuck and still. The red Golden Dawn Temple on the right illustrates the Lord of Shortened Force, not quite achieving the goal. Below it the Jonasa Jaus has the woman holding her head, clearly overwhelmed. Ballast also shows being overwhelmed, with the hands as the barrier blocking a light that blinds like the blindfolds. Telos Tarot of 777's art really highlights the multiple choices of the 8S in the art. Down at the bottom right is the Oracle of Delphi. Usually seekers would bring two possibilities, and the oracle would tell them which choice was best -- but in cryptic language that seekers would need to ponder. On the wall of the temple it said "Know Yourself"

Although I'm in the southern hemisphere where the season doesn't match, the energy certainly does! Lots more multi-tasking suddenly at work to the point of being overwhelmed/ afraid I'll miss something or not do it well. I feel better after I make my priorities list for the day (choices) based on deadlines, so I can just put my head down and get to it.

From the guidebook:

8 of Air: Respect gained for sound and mature thought. Reaching a position of authority through intellect. Being on a mental high. Negatively, becoming obscure and detached. A manic depressive.

Lovers: I am in an unresolved situation because of choices made in the past. I can choose either to ignore it or to change it and take full responsibility for the consequences.

Father of Air - A mature man, powerful and magnetic. A persuasive speaker, cool, detached and logical. He is ambitious to dominate others through his own ideas and words. Negatively, manipulates others for his own gain. A fraud.

Fate: No matter jow much responsibility Imtake for my actions, some things are completely out of my control. This is one of them.

36 Secrets T. Susan Chang suggests the 8S is paralysed here by too many choices. The Lovers is a choice we can make and The Wheel is a choice out-of-our-hands or fated.

Interference - the Wheel is moving while attempting to slow down to make a choice.

My oldest granddaughter is born in this decan.

That's a great point. Between those two forces. -- (And thinking about what you said made me realize I need to take my photo again; even though I put Fortune in the top post, I took a photo with the Magus. 🙃)

For 8S, I keep thinking of papanca - "mental proliferation" It's the mind working in the same way we can surf the web from one subject to the next, led along by the current. I see it's raining and might think about cancelled plans, and then the people I was going to see, and how one didn't text me back when I let them know we'd have to reschedule, and actually the other day she seemed a bit off, and she could be mad at me about that book I borrowed and still have, but it's hypocritical of her to be mad since she still has my sweater. She should calm down about it.

The real issue is the way stream of consciousness thoughts solidify something imaginary. That poor friend who simply had her phone off is suddenly cast in the role of an angry sweater stealer. 😅

I imagine this is similar to the thought processes of people who, on a much more dramatic level, begin to think their ideas are so correct that acts of terrorism are justified to defend or promote them.

The instructions for dealing with mental proliferation are so helpful, they called it the Honeyball Sutta, sweet in every way. When I catch myself carried along by thoughts, instead of assuming my unpleasant emotional reaction means something bad is certainly going on, I stop and know that there are any number of reasons that someone might not text me, or even that I might react defensively to a lack of response.

All this current and stream talk makes me think of the Telos Tarot image for this card, even though I know the different streams are meant to be choices. To me the Tabula Mundi image shows that all-tangled-up in spiraling thoughts feeling.

Thank you for sharing this. It is so true and has taken me years to get to a place where I don't run these streams of thoughts in my head. At least not as streams. Sometimes, although much less than ever, there may be a puddle for a few moments while I recognize the silliness of my even attempting to know what anyone else is doing, thinking or feeling in any given moment. I just experienced this ever so briefly this mornig and I laugh about it because, well, what else can I do.

I love what you said about papancha - it’s this exactly, also known informally as “monkey mind”, stream of consciousness thoughts leaping one to the next without cease, which could be a reference to the ever-moving mercurial god Hanuman.

Hope all is well, as we are a third of the way through Gemini 2. Good old Cruelty, where more mind tricks proliferate. I don’t want to jump in and start the new Gem2 thread, but the introductory blog post went up this weekend.

@Babalon Jones Thanks! I didn’t see it on the site. Forgot to refresh to make it show me the latest… Or subconsciously avoiding 9S. 🙃
