Rachelcat Posted Monday at 05:05 PM Posted Monday at 05:05 PM Hi, @fire cat pickles! Thanks as always! This week will be The Symbolic Tarot and continuing with Modern Goddess Oracle spreads. It’s the last of the new decks I’ve received. (It’s not like I have 5 on preorder or anything . . . And a book. Those Llewellyn coupons are definitely working on me!) Oh, another new deck I have is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which my son gave me for Mother’s Day. I’m going to hold off of that one until I watch the show again. I can’t remember much from when we used to watch it together when he was a teenager! The Symbolic Tarot is based on the idea of one item for each tarot card: thing, animal, etc. One is a color (Two of Cups, violet)!? In the booklet, queens are high/last, I think without explanation. I was kind of taken aback by “weighing scales” for Temperance (Justice is swords), but we’ll see if that’s a deal breaker. I think the deck concept is a worthy idea so I want to give it a try. Interview time! What is your most important characteristic? Ace of Wands, Staff Funny. The item for this card is its usual, defining item. So the important characteristic is that it’s made up of items, but are the items appropriate for each card? What is your strength? The Emperor, Jupiter I like the naturalistic depiction of the planet. It’s only somewhat / sometimes Golden Dawn? It’s expansive; it takes one concept and expands and enlarges it. Your weakness? The Fool, Egg The egg is about to hatch. It’s a new idea that might need more thinking-through. What can you teach me? The High Priestess, Heart Interesting it’s an anatomical heart. Pierced by a throwing star?? It can teach me to use my intuition instead of meanings I’ve learned by heart. (Get it?) How can I learn it? Page of Pentacles, Rabbit The pentacles in this deck are coins with rabbits on them (as shown here), but the page is an actual rabbit (or two?), not a picture of a rabbit. I can learn to use my intuition with this deck by being willing to be a beginner (page) engaging with the deck itself (pentacles). What will be the outcome of our work together? Ten of Pentacles, Contact This one doesn’t seem to match the others because it’s more concept than thing. But I like the illustration. Similar to the page: The connection between me and the deck will be based on its physical manifestation more than its concept. I will come to like it by actually touching and using it. Ok, we’ll see about that!

Bodhiseed Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM (edited) Thank you Fire cat! I'm in with the Tarot of the Cat People paired with the Insectorum Divinorum.Posted 1 minute ago Tarot of the Cat People, King of Cups; Insectorum Divinorum, Dimorphism Far from interfering with rationality, the absence of emotion and feeling can break down rationality and make wise decision-making almost impossible. —Antonio Damasio Neuroscientist Antonio Damasio found that emotions provide the brain with signals about what options are valuable or dangerous. Without these emotional cues, logical analysis becomes paralyzed by endless possibilities. But, the King of Cups cautions, when stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline flood the brain, our focus becomes severely narrowed and our capacity for reasoning greatly reduced. Recovery groups, knowing the danger of becoming emotionally hijacked, emphasize emotional sobriety. As Bill Wilson explained, ""If we examine every disturbance we have, great or small, we will find at the root of it some unhealthy dependency and its consequent unhealthy demand." Dimorphism is the condition when the same species of insects display different characteristics. Look on social media and it seems everyone is living the good life, with perfect jobs, families, and vacations. Yet it is an illusion of happiness; we shouldn't let the outer smiles fool us. This life contains both joy and suffering for all, and our job is to learn how to manage our intense emotions without acting out in dysfunctional ways. It starts with inner awareness.
