Edited by fire cat pickles

Hi everybody!  Thanks as always, @fire cat pickles .  This week for me will be Tarot in Space Cosmic Zen.  It’s a birthday gift from my son and daughter-in-law (along with two other decks I’ve decided not to add to my collection.  But I enjoyed checking them out!)

It’s a cute comic book style-deck.  When I went to the creator’s site to grab the companion pdf, I found out it’s based on the creator’s own Hitchhiker’s Guide-esque novel series, The Audacity by Carmen Loup.  (Insert obligatory envy-hating of talented people who can both write and illustrate here.)  An abducted earthling becomes a rocket racer in a rocket named The Audacity and of course saves the universe along the way.  There are four books, and I’ve almost finished the first.  Funny and engaging.  And more so because of the illustrations in the cards!

Suits are rockets, comets, lasers, and planets.  Courts are ensign, lieutenant (all androids), night captain, and day captain.  (Oh, and the cards have messages in an “alien” phonetic alphabet, but I haven’t figured that out yet.)

Let’s see what the deck has to say for itself!

 Monday 1.jpg

Seems like a lot of celebration here!  And a lot of rockets/fire!

What is your most important characteristic?  Four of Rockets

May the protagonist and Xan her alien friend celebrate a racing win.

The deck is all about a fun tarot organization (4) of the energy (rockets) of the stories.

What is your strength?  Ten of Rockets

It seems like the stories could be too ephemeral to carry an entire tarot, but it has the ability pull it off.

Your weakness?  Lieutenant of Rockets

Meta:  So far, I’ve only encountered one android in the story, and it was in the junkyard.

Maybe the deck has flown too far away from its source material?

What can you teach me?  Six of Rockets

More May and Xan celebration.

The deck can teach me to loosen up and enjoy the wins.

How can I learn it?  Six of Comets

Pair of sixes.

Young earthling May accepts a premonitory flower from an (alien) stranger.

I can learn to enjoy my wins by being open to receive them even if they don’t look like what I’m expecting.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Three of Planets

And even more togetherness.  May and Xan welcome the hyper-rational Listay as a member of their racing team.

Speaking of working together!  The whimsy of the deck will blend and work well with my more rationalize and generalized tarot knowledge to be a good team.

Love it!  We’ll see how it reads this week and how I enjoy the rest of the stories.

Welcome back @Rachelcat 😀

Thank you @fire cat pickles and hello again everyone. This week, I’ll be working with the Lars-Kristian Holmsen Tarot. It’s a book-and-deck set that my stepfather gifted me many years ago. Recently, I’ve felt very drawn to it. It reminds me of children’s book illustrations, and I’ve been thinking a lot about my own childhood and revisiting places from the past. The card I was particularly drawn to recently is the Chariot, here called ‘The Hero’. Funnily, where I grew up is hot air balloon country, especially in summer, and my stepfather loves hot air balloons. In any case, this is me, on my journey through life at the moment. — I have yet to read the book that comes with it in detail, but what I’ve read so far looks rather good.

Welcome back @BrightEye!

I do like the deck, very nostalgic feeling to it.

Sorry I'm late! I couldn't get on the forum yesterday. I'm in this week with the Anna K. Tarot and Meditation Cards.

The shallow satisfaction of having is always replaced by more wanting.

– Eckhart Tolle

This plump, bodacious version of the Empress reminds me of the prehistoric Venus statues. Anthropologists suggest these well-rounded forms were symbols of prosperity and fertility: in harsh, freezing climates, being overnourished was a crucial asset. In today's world, however, most of us do not live on the cup's lip of survival or oblivion. The Empress reminds us that we have enough, though the ads in media or comparing ourselves to others may influence us otherwise. Dissolve Into Now offers a verse by Thich Nhat Hanh:

When I drink tea, there is only me and the tea.

The rest of the world dissolves.

There are no worries about the future.

No dwelling on past mistakes.

Using our senses, what can we appreciate right here where we are in this moment? As Kristin Armstrong stated, "When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love rushes in."

Welcome back @Bodhiseed 😀

Good morning Everyone!

Well, you will probably shake your head in disbelief, but I will give the "All our Relations" deck another try this week.

Here are my daily draws from yesterday, when the forum was closed and from this morning:

I love the woodcut images and the sturdiness of the cards :)

The narratives on the back however are quite another matter.

We do live with Bears, we have a den on our land and see them regularly. However, they do not spread carcasses!!

Never have I seen an Animal, that does that.

There is also no Marine derived nitrogen to be had around here.

Maybe in some Salmon Rivers in British Columbia - but the rest of the Bear World??

No.

And today, this morning, I had to laugh out loud when reading that we have nothing better to say about Elephants than thanking for their pooooooop!??

The whole gang is here! Yay 😀

Welcome back @Mi-Shell braving the "All Our Relations" Deck again...
