I'm pretty sure Lo Scarabeo decks hit most U.S. sites a bit later than their European publish dates.  But Book Depository seems to be shipping it immediately from the UK, and Llewellen as well.

 

(I really like the colors, so I was looking forward to this when the catalog came out, but it's Pam B as mentioned earlier, and unfortunately I'm with @Raggydoll on that, so in the end I went with the AGM. Speaking of the Lo Scarabeo catalog, I don't know if it's of interest, but since we're talking in print RWS, later this year they're publishing a black & gold RWS. )

So I was re-reading all the helpful info in this thread (thanks everyone!)... I didn't catch this the first time, that I could use my US account with amazon.de. It worked. I got a German one at retail and the shipping was less than $4. And I didn't have to go through the trauma of having to enter my address and payment info, or create a separate account. Neat!

 

I did have to use Google translate to help me along, but it was fun. (I love languages. Because, I'm a geek.) I don't need the booklet, so the language isn't an issue. And, I have an English one the way as well, so I'll have that booklet.

Very interesting. I didn't know that about the Universal.

She altered the linework, too. The facial expressions can be quite different from the ones PCS drew because of that.

(It's not the first or last deck to be "softened" this way. The people on the first Kipper decks were baleful looking! And Ben Dov put slight smiles on the people in his TdM. Personally, I don't think it's necessary, but YMMV, etc.)

Thats a huge difference, but thats also what time and profitability will do.

Maybe. The Universal has stayed in print for a good while, so it apparently does OK. But I still suspect PCS's art outsells it.
It would be interesting to see sales figures for decks, like we do for music and movies. We can really only guess at profitability.

Just saw this thread, while looking for posts on University Books decks.... A Pam A does NOT come from University books. It's from the first decade of the 20th century. So I guess UB sort re-printed their own version. 

It seems that the vast differences are from the late '90's on, and maybe even the 21st century. So, who has a favorite version of RWS?

gregory, I'd advise taking that website with a big grain of salt. It's a very attractive-looking site, but it's not very well researched.
They say here that Frankie Albano "released a promo single for Dondee records in 1936, even though the single was originally set down in 1922."

But if you’ve ever spent any time with old records, you know that 45 RPM singles with big center holes requiring an adaptor didn’t even exist in the 1930’s. Here's a good one - a limited edition for £3.99 on ebay. VERY Limited - they have only sold 2,337 so far... 

 

Favourite ? I love my blue box one. I also love the GOOD PCS one that Lo Scarabeo put out, with the BLUE backs. Sadly it was only around for a matter of weeks.
