I'm loving all the artwork everybody has been sharing. (Sorry I haven't commented on each one, but I do see them all and they're beautiful!) This is fabulous! Not just the concept but the colors too. I feel uplifted just looking at it. I hope you do more cards for this deck!

I still have a pretty good stash of everything else. But I did treat myself to a new art portfolio. I have one in a3 but I have been wanting a smaller one so I purchased one in a4 size. I already had archival art sleeves so it didn’t end up that expensive. Since I plan on creating my own deck now, I will really need proper storage. 78 drawings will take up a bit of space 🙂 Really love the choice to give more of the figure on your amazing card. And I'm so glad you got yourself a portfolio for your own deck! That was one of the first things I did. It's really helpful to be able to flip through the actual drawings (mine are A3 size).

I would so love to flip through your portfolio 🥰 I thought that it might be fun for my kids to one day have a portfolio with my original drawings to look at. Plus a portfolio keeps everything safe and organized.

I am extending the art all the way down, so I have done a quick outline of her body and I will begin working on the details next. The background might need some tweaking too, once I’ve seen how everything comes together. She is so amazing!!! And of course you have to treat yourself to good tools/paper etc! And yes 78 cards will use a bit of space. Have you thought yet if you want to sell the originals once you are done?

My first honest thought was “no...who would pay for that?” 🤣 But maybe someone would want one. I dunno. It haven’t even crossed my mind until now!

They had an exhibition! And yes of course people want to buy the original art work!!! Or if you want to keep them for your children you could make prints 😉 I am so darn sure that your deck will be so strong! People will want bigger versions on their walls 😉❤️

Wanderer Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Just wanted to say hello and add appreciation to all the contributions in the last several pages! (Sorry for vanishing mid-conversation, but I've been distracted by what is happening to my friends in China, where I'm meant to be going in a few weeks for a three-month research trip...) The cards are all wonderful, and it's the contrast in styles and approaches that will make this deck so interesting... Seriously impressed by how rapidly it's coming together now!
Raggydoll Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 I think this concludes my Elder of Earth. I’m going to scan her and see. It’s tricky to get an accurate picture with a cellphone but you get the idea. Hopefully my scanner does a better job 🙂

Wanderer Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Stunning, @Raggydoll! This is such a compelling card; not just the artwork, but the feel and readability too... love it!

Oh it's great! You once mentioned possibly adding birds and clouds above her, I think. Have you decided against that? When I look at her, I see a hawk soaring overhead. It is good to see the artwork within the frame of the card!

As I said before, there is just so much age, wisdom, memory, spirituality, and depth to this card. There is something transcendent about it. She has weathered it all and gained such incredible inner strength, power, and peace. She is beautiful. Edited January 27, 2020 by Jewel

Have you decided against that? When I look at her, I see a hawk soaring overhead. That was for my previous card - Explorer of Air. I was contemplating adding more air elements for that but decided not to. I see hawks as air/fire. For this card I want all the focus to go downward. She is firmly anchored to the ground and she taps into the great Mother through the whispers of the mountains and the sounds of the trees. One of the other most important features is her labyrinth pendant, as it marks her role as pathfinder. She is the Elder; the advisor and leader of her tribe. I’ll try to explain it even further in my written description 🙂 Just now, geoxena said: It is good to see the artwork within the frame of the card! Absolutely!

Yes, what you say about the Elder makes sense - she does look rooted to the ground and like a medicine woman to me. But, this is the second time you mentioned her being a pathfinder - what do you mean by that? The word itself is easy enough to infer what it means generally, but what does it mean to you? Is it a term from tarot, New Age, Wicca, or another tradition? Sorry, I'm just not familiar with the term as I don't know anyone who uses it in reference to a person. Is it a term from tarot, New Age, Wicca, or another tradition? Sorry, I'm just not familiar with the term as I don't know anyone who uses it in reference to a person. I plan on trying to explain all that in my longer write-up. I might not use that exact word to explain it because that is mostly a compromise in order to try and convey a non-English concept. And it has nothing to do with Wicca or new age, but more to do with things that I have come to believe since childhood (I’m Norse, so that may give it some context). Basically, I view the world and the “great big beyond” as a web. Everything is interconnected and everything is undergoing a constant process of weaving. We too can act as co-creators of that web, but it’s only after we know the true nature of it that we can do changes that are constructive and that will benefit the creation as a whole. To most of us, the web seem more like a labyrinth. And there is little rhyme or reason for its existence. But to this Elder, it is indeed a web. So she has mastered and transcended beyond the labyrinth. It is merely a decorative piece on her chest now. She is what I would term as One who knows the path. She sees the great path and so she can guide others to help them see and navigate their own. Her specific role in this life is to guide her tribe to ways that they can live in harmony with each other and with their land. She is a very grounded Elder who channels the voice of nature and who helps her people to understand their roles both as individuals and as members of their community. She informs them of traditions and of times past, and she reminds them of the importance of legacy; of what they are to leave behind for generations to come. It is very much about caring for the nature and creating a sustainable income; to experience abundance that generates more abundance as time goes by.
