Wait.. was she in Saturday Night Fever? No I'm thinking of Grease... oh god we do NOT need a Grease themed Tarot... ok I'm gonna shut up now and look at this "Easy Tarot" lololol

Now for god's sake somebody stop me before I post more! By the way, I really look like this - not bad for almost 72 if I do say so myself - and I can still Shake Rattle and Roll with the best of them! Now I will STOP HIJACKING THIS THREAD and go sit in my rocking chair with a cup of tea and my crocheting like a proper Grandma.

You're about to blow your cover as one of those "cool grannies"... You're right we gotta stop, I'll go back to ummm... well I'm just weird so I have no cover to blow but I'll... go be weird over there now instead...

The expression on her face is perfect for the suit of swords I'm actually amazed at how much that feeeels like the knight of swords energy to me. It's confident, smart, but also seems a bit young and like she might be a bit more impulsive than if this were the queen of swords, which is exactly what the card should represent. It's got all the elements I'm so impressed! Thank you! Yes I drew the whole thing 😊 In fact, after creating two cards for this deck I decided I will make an entire deck for myself and I’m sharing the process here, if you or anyone else wants to see it (it’s visible to members only)

It is only a pattern for using Sacred Geometry in my drawings. Absolutely nothing is drawn yet. I only showed the concept and the hidden pattern. I think it add some magickal oomph. Tomorrow I'll use that layout and draw the card on another page. I'll scan it and "ink" and add color in Photoshop! I might have misunderstood something but I still want to point out two things to be sure: remember that WE add the titles and remember to not have any details too close to the sides as this is a borderless deck. The safety lines are about 0,5 inch from the sides in the finished format (needs to go up if you work on a larger scale). Maybe you have already taken that into account, I just got a bit worried because on that drawing many details are too close to the edge and would be lost. It’s a really cool concept though!!
geoxena Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 (edited) Hey everybody, I've started the actual drawing for my next card, which is Nurturer of Earth. My concept is an idea I've had for a couple of years, but I surprised myself by adding something to it I didn't plan. I was inspired partly by reading up on symbols from various cultures that would relate to this card, and also by some of the residents in a small local zoo where I am... My phone takes really bad pics, so not all the pencil strokes are visible, and the lighting in the Starbucks I'm in at the moment created some weirdness, but I thought I'd share what I've gotten done so far because I'm really liking it. Who knows, I might wind up with something completely different from what I had in my head! This is part of the setting surrounding the Nurturer; they are in the foreground. They might get another layer of color, and a background will definitely be added, but these creatures are close to finished: Edited February 1, 2020 by geoxena Typos

Yes, it is. I'd move the lower chakras down a bit, too, the base chakra is barely below the belt and the sacral is way up on the diaphragm. But I like the concept.

Thank you! But - I just started it, so that's really all I have drawn so far. My concept did originally include animals and people surrounding the Nurturer of Earth, but sort of in the middle distance. I had no intention of having any close-ups, but after reading a little bit about goddesses who were representations of "Mother Earth" and also known for being associated with bulls or disguising themselves as cows -- and being a double Taurus myself -- I just suddenly knew I had to draw a bovine. At first, I was going to draw a bull, but realized cow and calf is a much better subject for a Nurturer card. There is a very small zoo inside a county park near me which has a pair of bison and I always look for them when I drive past their enclosure. It makes me sad that they're not roaming freely, though I know they're well taken care of. I've always loved the shape and profile of bison/buffalo. They are so hardy and their coats protect them so well that they can just stand calmly in a blizzard. And they are so majestic. I think a bison mother and calf works well for this card and my concept. Anyway, my ideas for the card seems to be morphing into something different every time I think about it. The bison cow and calf are in one corner and the Nurturer of Earth is rising up out of a mountain behind them. There will be other animals and earthy symbols, and I'm still deciding which to include or not - there's only so much room on the card! Edited February 1, 2020 by geoxena

Yes, you said it was your concept for something you are going to draw on another medium. @Raggydoll is just making sure you don't go too far along in your work without being aware of the safe area. This is because some people (hint: ME!) miscalculated and had to go back, revise, and resubmit. We're all just helping each other. I do like your concept a LOT! Edited February 1, 2020 by geoxena

We did get some cards which were wrong and some had to be redone which we just wanted to avoid. Just keep going ❤️

Morsoth Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 No, that's fine! The borders are took into consideration. The books, stones, etc aren't important. They can be cutout. Here's a new quick update, so that you can see the image I have in mind:

geoxena Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 Ugh. I don't like how the rest of my drawing is coming out. I tried to cram too many elements, objects, symbols, etc. I have to re-think the whole concept and design. Tomorrow I will cut out the section with the bison cow and calf and paste it into a new blank sheet of paper to start again. That's the only part I like.

I love that cuddly little calf who is so content and trusting nestled up to her mother, and I love how you achieve texture that looks like it could be felt on the paper. I know about starting over, too. Sometimes Grandpa would watch me unravel something I was crocheting and say with astonishment "but you worked all evening on that" and I would calmly respond "well it's got to be right".

Aww, thank you. There are lots of images online of bison cows with their calves, and it seems they do like to nestle under mama's long fringe. Some of the images were labeled "bison protects calf," so I think that is a common position the cows use to keep a calf safe. I used one of the photos I found as a model and just moved the calf over a little in my drawing. Yeah, baby bison are so cute! I'm so glad you could see the texture of her coat, which I had hoped I achieved. It looks much better in person than in the crappy image from my cheap phone! For my do-over, I'm going back to my original concept which was simpler, and will just add mama and baby bison to it. Edited February 2, 2020 by geoxena
