Deck of the Week Sign-up Thread, Week 487: Nov. 2 - Nov. 8
Rachelcat replied to fire cat pickles's topic in Deck of the WeekHi all! This week I’ll be repeating Crystal Keys Tarot since I missed so many days last week. Even though I did Halloween readings at my work happy hour. I just received a Llewellyn preorder, AND I ordered something else on a whim over the weekend, so I'll eventually get back to the midcentury esoteric decks after some weeks of playing with my new acquisitions. The best laid plans and all that!

Deck of the Week Sign-up Thread, Week 487: Nov. 2 - Nov. 8
Bodhiseed replied to fire cat pickles's topic in Deck of the WeekThank you Fire cat! I'm in this week with the Daniloff Tarot paired with the 100 Poems of Kuan Yin. If we don’t have any restraint, we don’t have any control over where our lives are going. Anything that comes our way immediately pulls us into its wake. —Thanissaro Bhikkhu We have an objective for which we plan and prepare, and then we take off, thinking all we need now is movement. But the armless charioteer lets us know this ambition is going to take resolute mental discipline. The griffin (vigilance and guardianship) and unicorn (purity and fidelity) that pull his vehicle alert us to an important attribute we'll also need - restraint. This quality means we can forego certain pleasures, not because we have to, but because they go against our principles, aspirations and priorities. The 35th Kuan Yin verse says: A well-lit street stretches out before you, where once there were thistles and thorns. Many of the challenges and obstacles we face are because we become distracted by what we want or don't want that we notice. This verse tells us to clear our mental street and focus on what we value. As author Nir Eyal explains, traction is what moves us toward what we genuinely want, and distraction moves us further away from it. -

Favorite Rider Waite Decks?
dollyglitter replied to aceofcups's topic in RWSI also like RWS decks! I have the Golden Art Nouveau deck, which is really a golden RWS so to speak, and the Neon Rider Tarot, that has neon, vibrant colors and therefore it is very pleasant for the eye.

Can you Trust an App to Give you a Proper Spread?
dollyglitter replied to Symph's topic in Tarot in MediaBTW I am amazed that I am not the only person who feels AI might be demonic. Gratefully and strangely surprised. I still use it, and I am overcoming that thought, but now I feel inclined to not dismiss my first intuitive feelings. I think that maybe it's not demonic, but there might be something unhealthy with it, which I interpret as demonic. As for the tarot reading, I don't like the idea of reading tarot with an AI, I think tarot must be physical, as physical as it can be, I also do not trust the shuffling of the cards, etc...it's all too cold. Too machinery. And tarot will never be that.

Rehabilitating the Three of Swords
dollyglitter replied to BradGad's topic in Individual Card MeaningsFor me 3 of Swords means the opportunity for healing, but by feeling your feelings unapologetically, by looking into the wound. This might be difficult, of course. But it is not bad.

Chrysalis Tarot
dollyglitter posted a topic in Study GroupsHello! I've got this deck and I love the artwork, but it is a bit hard for me to interpret. Does anyone have more experience with it? I have the companion book to it, but still it doesn't help me a lot to interpret them. I'd love to open a study group for this deck. Thanks in advance! I can also write down my own insights when working with the cards, but I feel they are not enough, many times.

Tarot cards for health and illness.
Libra 58 replied to Libra 58's topic in Tarot Talk & TechniqueThank you all for your suggestions, this is something that needs a lot of thinking and also asking the right question for every situation. -
Tarot cards for health and illness.
Tanga replied to Libra 58's topic in Tarot Talk & Technique*As @Chariot & @Raggydoll said. Sigh. Well... I'm going to have to wait until I can get my email fixed so that I can then post my list of medical inferences that could be read from combinations of Major and Minor cards. I was given this list aeons ago by my Tarot tutor - and I've never actually used them. And according to her they were only to be read if they were drawn in the position of the 6th house (Health) in a spread which has positions for the Astrological houses (which is why I don't use them. I don't use Astrology). If I post them here, they may be of interest and use to others... I'll do that as soon as I can. Hmm... I don't like the artwork that much, but it's an interesting idea. Thanks for mentioning it. -
Tarot cards for health and illness.
Saturn Celeste replied to Libra 58's topic in Tarot Talk & TechniqueI know this is a discussion about the tarot cards in a deck but I have this healing tarot deck that is kind of cool. It is the Healing Tarot. It even discusses baldness! -
Tarot cards for health and illness.
Raggydoll replied to Libra 58's topic in Tarot Talk & TechniqueTechnically speaking, any card in the deck can refer to health and illness, it all depends on the context and the question asked. The four suits can certainly indicate different types of health - mental, emotional, physical, spiritual etc. As for the Sun card, many would probably see it as a good health card in general. However, it could also be referencing a fever, or the risk of dehydration. It all depends! -
Tarot cards for health and illness.
Chariot replied to Libra 58's topic in Tarot Talk & TechniqueI have seen The Star upright indicating a return to good health. (In fact that has happened to me personally.) Also Strength upright but that usually implies an ongoing situation, in which perseverance and calmness creates a desirable result. Actually there are lots of cards that can give information about health issues—including those already mentioned on this thread—but I suspect they need a question regarding health in order to be obvious. I don't think there are many cards that automatically mean 'health' ...either good or bad health. Context is key. This is why I'm not a huge fan of card reading 'blind,' without any indication of what the querent is concerned about. I'm not psychic. I need context in order to read accurately. -
Tarot cards for health and illness.
JoyousGirl replied to Libra 58's topic in Tarot Talk & TechniqueNot sure if it is strictly meeting your criteria, and a little too specific: 3 of Swords: surgery (any sort that involves cutting into the body in any way) or heart disease and cardio pulmonary issues (Swords being air/oxygen delivery/lungs - and of course the pierced heart in the RWS image). Pentacles as the physical body/material conditions would be a good indicator of what is happening in that direction. King of Pentacles: hospital; medical specialists. Page of Pentacles: news about health/test results. But as you asked - Health: Sun fits as it is giver of life and vitalising. Depending on whether there's excess or insufficiency around it. Temperance may mean homeostasis - either in, returning to, or away from. Maybe also Ace of Pentacles as it represents a sort of wholeness - a sort of virginality of the body before our life choices, consumption and environment has its way. Illness: 5 Pentacles. -

Libra 58 posted a topic in Tarot Talk & TechniqueWhat tarot cards do you think symbolize health and illness best? My own suggestions are: Health: The Sun and Ace of Rods. Illness: 4 of Swords and 9 of Swords. -
Minchiate study group
fire cat pickles replied to fire cat pickles's topic in MinchiateI can't think of any other sources in English. Of course there may be some I am unaware of but the ones you mention above are the top two IMHO, and may be all you need. You can ways look for TdM resources for the minor arcana. Neither Williams or Aguirre address those. -

A Question for Lenormand Readers
Misterei replied to WizardintheWoods's topic in LenormandThis is sometimes easier to quantify if you were using LN for a yes/no reading. I use a 3-card method which gives number to the cards as yes/maybe/no. You lay the cards and add them up. So it's not reading the cards per se--although sometimes the cards are apropos to the question. In any case i asked if a certain item would be found in a certain location. In my gut I felt a "yes". But the LN spread showed a solid "maybe" In the end, the item did turn out to be in the location. So in this case my gut was right and the cards were not. This still vexes me! -
Deck of the Week Sign-up Thread, Week 486: Oct. 26 - Nov. 1
Bodhiseed replied to fire cat pickles's topic in Deck of the WeekThank you, Fire cat! I'm in with the Tarot of St. Croix paired with the Archetype Cards this week. Coming out of the dark I finally see the light now —Gloria Estefan Dogmatic views, unyielding ideologies and unwavering beliefs and can keep us trapped. What seemed like solid convictions can leave us in darkness where nothing grows but mushrooms. But then we see a sliver of light, a ray of openminded ideas that feels like freedom. We leave behind the voices that tell us, "Be faithful, don't be a quitter, the known is better than the unknown." We eventually find the sunlight. The Alchemist represents turning base motives into discerning wisdom. She asks us not only to leave behind those old ideas, but to also see the part we played in getting stuck in them. Were we looking for stability, security and certainty? There is no such thing in this world of flux. Better to listen to the words of Oprah: "Turn your wounds into wisdom." -
Past Present Future readings with one card?
Chariot replied to karma_eleon's topic in Tarot SpreadsAnother thing you can do with only one card is pull it first. It will be the 'overview' card. In other words, this card will show what the reading will be about. Using examples from my earlier post ...the Death card will mean the reading will be about something coming to a final end. (Or if Death is reversed, the reading will be about something that should be gone, but is still hanging around.) The Queen of Wands will be about a person (or yourself) displaying the characteristics of the Queen of Wands. Then go ahead and do a focused reading using a few more cards in specific positions, to get answers or solutions to the specific problem. But keep in mind the original card was the overview 'topic.' -
Past Present Future readings with one card?
gregory replied to karma_eleon's topic in Tarot SpreadsOnly just saw this thread. I've done this many times for ISG. Read the card for past; turn it over, Next day read it for present; turn it over, Next day read it again for future. It has worked quite well. -
Hello from a long-time tarot reader
CBM121 replied to Tarot-Free's topic in IntroductionsHi @Tarot-Free . I'm new here too and need to spend more time getting to know this community. I'm also working almost exclusively with RWS and am particularly fascinated by the Minor Arcana. I would love to connect to trade ideas with you about the Minors as there is so much humanity in those 56/112 cards. I see the relationship between the Majors and the Minors as essentially musical, powerful Major chords along with movement based, provocative, and sometimes unsettling Minor chords. I keep finding resonance in the fact there are 2.5x the number of Minor Arcana cards than Majors, and see patterns and relationships in the Court Cards that I'm sure others have as well but I haven't seen anyone else talk or write about yet. I take an archetypal/depth psychology centered perspective to tarot which inevitably leads to echoes of the sacred. Send me a message if you'd like to connect.
