I hope I'm asking this in the right topic. I'm wanting to practice reading I'm wondering if others would share with me what questions are often asked from other people when reading for them. I think for me having some general ideas of what people ask first and practicing that way would be better for me first rather than asking friends and family to do readings for them. Thank you

Those that read for others, do you keep a record of the readings that you do? This only applies to where that's possible to do of course, e.g. readings done by email or video call. I have recently started to do readings for friends and family and real life events have started to reflect what came up in those readings. I'm fascinated to see this happening (obviously!) and have also noticed nuances and facets appear for certain card meanings. I'd love to keep a note of these observations as part of my learning journey but I'm second guessing myself as to whether keeping a record of readings done for others is overstepping a boundary. I would always …

I've been thinking... . Other than the Oculi Occultati Tarot, the majors of which I find very interesting, but not the minors, I cannot think of any other male-centric tarot or oracle decks. Suggestions anyone? Much appreciated.

Hi everyone I remember reading somewhere that you should put your cards back in order after a reading to remove the vibes from that reading and cleanse them for next time. I used to do this, but it got to be way too much trouble. Now, I just put the cards away as they are, which doesn't seem to be affecting my readings at all. What do you all do? Do any of you do this, or have any other rituals or practices for putting your cards away?

I'm finally getting around to reading The Marseilles Tarot Revealed (a newer Llewellyn edition of the self-published Tarot: The Open Reading) by Yoav Ben-Dev (creator of the popular Conver Ben-Dov TdM, or CBD Tarot). I was charmed by his definition in the preface: "... I would say that, first of all, it is a work of art--not like a painted picture, framed and hung as a finished product that cannot be changed. Rather, it is a capricious set of images to be handled and played with, evolving over many generations through the collective efforts of deck creators and visionaries. It is a wonderful work of art, rich and flexible enough to span the entire range of hum…

When you read the cards, are you using your own intuition/speaking with your higher self? OR Are you asking some other Source (Ancestors, Spirits, Angels, etc) to come through? I've been reading Tarot for 20 years and I always assume my own higher self is "who" comes through the cards. As if I'm just unlocking things already known deep in my subconscious. I'm not really trying to communicate or ask my questions of another Source. But recently I was with a friend who did a ceremonial invitation to her Spirit Guides before reading the cards. And it was a shock to realize there are other ways of using Tarot cards! So now I'm curious how many…

I've just started using a new technique with small layouts that I am finding VERY useful. By small, I mean layouts with only three, four, or five positions - past, present, future, helping a friend, solving a problem, etc. The big change is that instead of just one card for each position, I now draw two cards and interpret them together. And WOW! This really helps nail a meaning for me. Does anybody else do this? Example: Middle images ...situation at present for my friend Bottom images ...what I should NOT do Top images ...what is best for me to do The double images are so much easier to interpret than the single image would be, in my opini…

I'm currently reading through Mary Greer's book on Understanding the Tarot Court. It's a great book and I'm really enjoying it. She has a short section on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and gives a table of correspondences between the types and the court. It's a personality test that has four main variables, giving sixteen possible combinations, so in theory it should be possible to fit the court cards into this. My test result gives me as INTP (Introvert, intuitive, thinking, perceiving. There are three authors who have allocated this to the court cards, Mary Greer herself, Jana Riley and Linda Gail Walters. And of course they are all diff…

Before you begin, you will need to gather your tarot deck and a Tarot Journal. You may light a candle or incense, and perhaps some calming music to create a peaceful atmosphere. As you shuffle, think about your question you want to address. Start by laying out 5 cards in a horizontal line from left to right. The first card, on the far left, represents the past. The second card represents the present. The third card represents the future. The fourth card represents the obstacles or challenges you may face. The fifth card, on the far right, represents the outcome.

Well, I have started reading tarot cards a few months ago although I always an interest towards tarot since I was a kid. I know when doing tarot spread you have different techniques or spreads like the star or the Celtic cross, although I do not use these techniques. I usually shuffle and take cards take fly out when shuffling either 6 or 8 cards and the bottom of the deck, this way I feel like I can better my intuition or my skills per say. However, I have hard time doing readings for myself, anyone else?

Do you eat or drink anything in the middle of a reading. Why/why not? Do you think it's somehow disrespectful towards the cards or do you feel like a little sacrifice (of your hunger/thirst) might make your reading more potent? Does feeling full affect your concentration, like does it make you feel drowsy or uncentered? Or do you just dislike the crumbs that would mess up your workspace if you're finicky? Or do you think it doesn't really matter, so you'd eat or drink whenever necessary, even in the middle of a reading? Some do this only during breaks tho, and just clean their hands when they have to read again.

Hi all! My first post, so I hope it's in the right place.... I'm a new Tarot user, and as such am very much learning as I go. I make sure I do a daily 3-card spread. I do find 'linking' the cards quite hard. Today, I pulled the Seven Of Wands, Nine Of Pentacles, and Justice. I read that as keeping up my confidence, appreciating what I have, and that I'm on the right path (an explanation I read of Justice?) That would fit with me right now - I'm in need of some good luck, though.....

Apophenia is the tendency to see connections where there are none. Like finding recognisable shapes in clouds. Is that what is happening when we read tarot cards or indeed any form of divination? Are we making meaning out of meaningless things? Do we really resonate with readings or are we making them fit or just seeing the things that fit and forgetting the things that don't? This is just something I've wondered about for a while. So I'm interested in hearing peoples perspectives on this.

I have a few questions about daily readings since it is a very personalized experience. It is for reseach in my bachelor thesis (and my own curiousity). I am super grateful for anyone who can help me out! How do you do daily readings? What are you usually trying to find out when you do your daily reading? Do you read only upright or also reversed? Do you have all the card meanings memorized or do you have to look them up sometimes? Have you ever taken notes about your readings? Thank you so much!

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to use tarot cards as a tool for spiritual growth and awakening? At the moment my readings seem to be more of a distraction from my spiritual practices. I think perhaps I'm not asking the cards the right type of questions or not using the best spreads for my purpose. My spirituality interests at the moment are Zen, meditation, stillness.

Hello friends, I have these questions on my mind today. How do you use your tarot practice in the more difficult times of your life? Are there spreads that you like, questions that you ask, do you take a break from the cards completely? I lost two pets this year, they were my best friends and the loss weighs heavily on me despite the passage of time. Sometimes it's less hard, sometimes all I can do is think about the empty space in my life and how much I miss them. I've done the usual things, talked to my therapist, my friends, I've made small memorials, written in my journal, looked at the pictures and videos in my phone... I'm wondering how I can use tarot as another th…

Hi all. This sub has been helpful thus far! I am ill (I keep drawing the Ten of Swords, which means I have reached my limit) so while I rest, I seek to grow always, I personally do believe God (Divine etc) speaks to us in different ways, and Tarot may be one of them for some of us. (first post on this page today was about that...synchronicity? maybe) I have on very rare occasions experienced prophetic visions in prayer, but I think the Tarot may be another valid and more nuanced way of receiving advice. For instance, I asked about help in careers. I drew the Three of Cups. Not understanding it, I asked for clarification and drew the Three of Pentacles. By themse…

I just read a mention of NWTS on a different thread and wondered about it. I went in 2019 and 2020 ... I wanted to go this year but I had just moved house and things were too topsy turvy to get away. This was the first year with the new owners. How was it? What did you like best or least? Was it similar to past years or different?
