Hi all... I have been thinking of getting a thoth deck lately and was wondering about what you all have to say, people who are using it and used it. I also have heard that this deck may not be of good energy, is that true? I have also heard that this deck is less about divination and more about spiritual ascension. I really like the deck and some of the ideas behind it, the ones i heard and understood. Just want to understand more before i take the plunge... what to expect, dos and don't and stuff like that. I would be very grateful if anyone could respond to this. Thank you 🙏

There are a number of decks that depict the traditional tarot suits corresponding with the four seasons- Tarot of Trees, Prisma Visions and Victorian Fairy Tarot come to mind (I don't own the latter so am less familiar with it). Of the decks that do this, I believe there are a number of variations as to which season the creator chose to link to each suit. For example, Tarot of Trees is Wands=Spring, Cups=Summer, Swords=Autumn, and Pentacles=Winter. (It's been a while since I worked with it so please correct me if I'm wrong!) Prisma Visions is Wands=Spring, Pentacles=Summer, Cups=Autumn, and Swords=Winter. I'm not sure about the Victorian Fairy- maybe someone can add that?…

I was reading a book called Quabalistic Tarot by Wang, and in his section on Gematria (reading of letters as numbers), he gives an example by Westcott (of GD fame) and republished by Crowley, which appears on the surface to be wrong, or at least inconsistent with the system espoused by Wang and it is implied by Westcott (the standard mispar gadol). But does this invalidate the insight given? It got me wondering in general if conclusions arrived at through erroneous means are any worse than those arrived at by accurate ones. On the one hand we are told to trust our intuition, on the other what's the point of learning the tarot system if you are just going to make it up …

I determine the meanings according to "all things considered" type reading method. I have a lot of tarot decks. Too many. They are glittering jewels. I want more of them but I must stop myself. Why all this craving for more? I asked my Psychic Oracle deck this morning if I should buy the Chakra Oracle deck and I got the Temptation card, (devil.) Aha. There we go. I hope this is the right place to post this. I want to avoid using Amazon but I need some recommendations for good alternatives for Tarot, preferrably in the EU (because of customs). Where do you get your mass market decks? I want to buy a couple of new ones but I'm having a hard time finding them elsewhere.

Wondering who likes accessories 🙂 I rarely use box they came in unless a tin or a really big deck like Touchstone. Buy, make your own? IF I had to dress my own, they would have to be in baggies, I do NOT have sewing skills.

So after some back and forth periods of weariness about the Tarot I am truly out of the woods. Not only do I not worry about what I'm doing, I am growing in excitement to become a better reader and bond with my decks but I find that I don't really know how to do that. I want to start reading for myself again or reading on things by myself somehow, just to become regular and familiar with my decks. I'd like to start keeping a deck with me all the time, I know that some people pull a daily card and meditate on it. Hi Everyone, New to this group and loving it. I'm wondering how experienced readers handle deck differences, for example the 5 of Vessels from the Wildwood Tarot vs. the RWS 5 of cups? Hey everyone! I recently got a new deck, The Harmony Tarot, and I think it is so beautiful. It seems like a great fit for me as it's for growth and healing, something I'm working on at the moment. My problem is I am not connecting to this deck at all, an issue i've never had before. My last two decks i've picked up, starting reading, and it all made sense. With this one my readings just feels jumbled and don't quite make sense. I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any advice? 🙂

Hey So, I recently found out a reader I know removes the death card from each deck she owns and throws it away...because of her own superstitions. I've never purchased a reading from her, this was something she told me she did and I am glad that I never purchased a reading from her...I just personally feel like id be cheated...and that she lets her own personal feelings and beliefs interfere with a reading. I take the day and month of birth and add it to the current year. So 4/9/2020 (following a DD/MM/YY format) becomes: 4+9+2+0+2+0=17 (The Star) which can be further broken down to 1+7=8 (Strength). I'm reading with great interest the posts about what people may see about tarot as they walk into your home, and it seems some people have a A LOT of decks! I get that! But, for those of you who have hundreds of decks, I have a feeling some of you must have that one go-to deck that you always go back to. Me personally, it's always my trusty vintage Grimaud TdM deck from'77. But color wise, it doesn't match up to some of the newer TdM's, they saved money by just dumbing down the multi colors. But it always feels good to use it. It's all good energy.

Curious as to what people's personal opinions are, as I know there are some people who study tarot secularly, simply as an introspective tool that reveals their subconscious, and others who use tarot in divinatory ways and believe spirit guides (or what have you) are providing answers. It looks like our kind facilitator for the Circle of Seasons exchange has had to be away for a bit, and I thought for August I could facilitate just a general circle similar to the old Newbies Circle at AT -- i.e. welcoming to any level of experience, no particular theme, a suggested spread with 3 - 5 cards. I used to use a fancy cloth that I got from eBay to do my readings on. But my primary way of mixing the cards is riffle shuffling the cards, however I noticed that the cloth would move around on the tabletop when I did that. So, I switched to a jewelers' display pad, but I found the pad wasn't thick enough or big enough to do the layout on. Then I found the perfect solution - The Magicians close-up pad. It makes riffle shuffling easier and they come in different sizes. I have two of them, a red one 11 X 16 which is perfect for my monthly coffee shop gig in which I do three card spreads. Theres a great thread now on the 3 of Swords, I had one going on the 4&7 of Swords, and there's usually one around about the 5 of Swords. I don't see or notice many others of any other suit, (I'm not counting the Majors her) that spark so many questions and wonders. Whenever you get a brand new deck, do you immediately unseal it or do you wait until you feel that the time is right? I'm more of the latter. I'd usually buy decks that I like but won't open them until weeks, months, or even years later. I feel like I must only unseal a deck when I can give it my undivided attention and lavish as much time as I can spare in studying it. It's weird since even tho I like my decks a lot especially at the time that I bought them, it's not often that I open a deck out of pure excitement.
