Hi all. A couple of years ago a tarot lady determined the trustworthiness of a new contact for me using the tarot cards. And she was absolutely right. Just now, I could use her advice again, but I don't know what kind of spread / technique she used and I don't remember her contact details. So, I am asking here: Do you know how to determine whether a person is trustworthy using the cards?

Are tarot cards mostly occult in nature? I mean do they best work under an apocryphistic point of view or do they work in the same way for all purposes?

I have been doing Tarot on and off for a few years now but recently I've decided to get more serious with my Tarot studies. Reversals have always been troublesome for me to interpret so I've decided that I will start small and work my way up to them in due time. I decided to do a reading where any reversals would be ignored concerning "What is the status of my love life?". I've had some ups and downs being alone, and I would like to know what I can do to cultivate a relationship for myself. I've used a three card spread where: 1 -> Current Status or State 2 -> What is blocking me from getting into a relationship 3 -> What can I do to bring love into my life. The …

Greetings everyone, I purchased a small velvet cloth as an additional layer on my table, but the border is horrid - ugly in my eyes. I'm going to trim it with proper shears. But, how do I seal the sides so that it does not continue to fray? Is there a liquid or something similar that works? Asking my crafty folks. Thanks.

I was asking on a goal I have for June of 2019 to move with the family to the place of my dreams-right by the ocean; my daughter is 100% on board my husband is kinda unsure he's weird about change. -__- Not the adventurous sort but oh well...anyway have been working on manifesting and creating these past few months and asked about potential outcome in one deck (my new shadowscape deck) Got the king of cups which..might be wishful thinking but first thought from the imagery was living by the water (my goal is moving right by the ocean) then clarifier was 4 of wands; I see this as a celebration; the new home and feeling the joy and achievement in that...I was journalling fo…

Since the first time I got in touch with the tarot cards, I understood (kinda) the extrapolation between the figures and chapters in life, but also had the tendency of associating the figures with real persons I met in real life, don't know exactly why I did that. For example, I thought of death as someone that killed a friend of mine from the old neighbourhood accidentally in a car accident, the devil as a former boss who tried to scam me etc.. Do you also have a similar way of thinking? Or do you think of something completely different when you see the cards?

Have you ever doubted your reading? Like, the answer you are always getting from the cards seems to be too good to be true (the question is not like getting a gold mansion or something far-fetched like that)? It is like your intuition is agreeing with the cards, but your brain says "hey be realistic! You know that ain't gonna happen." Sent from my RNE-L22 using Tapatalk

So, I had my first reading today from my boyfriends mum. He himself had never had a reading either. So after my reading his twin sister had hers then he had his. They both ended up having 9 identical cards!! The only one that wasn’t the same was the final card! They were all in a different order apart from the distant past! I watched her shuffle the cards till my boyfriend told her to stop and then he split them 3 times! Has anyone else ever heard of this happening with twins?? I think this was absolutely amazing!!

I’ve been getting into tarot lately and mentioned it to my friends and they made fun of me and said that tarot is girl thing. Curious if anyone else has dealt with this kind of reaction, and why people still see spirituality or introspection as gendered.

In one of my tarot books, the author mentioned that some readers will perform a deck clearing ritual just before the start of the reading. She didn't elaborate on this, so I am wondering if you can tell me what you do with the deck BEFORE the reading starts with the sitter? Also, are the cards in a certain order before the shuffling and cutting process? What do you do? Rick,

Hello All, This is a topic I don’t hear much about, I tried to see if anyone made a thread, but I did not see one, so apologies if I’ve made a repeat from anywhere. As well as being new, I hope I put this in the right topic! [emoji102] What is everyone opinions on using substances when tapping into readings? This could be alcohol, marijuana, hallucinogens, and so forth. I’ve heard a few different responses which I’ll get into: 1: This is bad as any sort of substance keeps you off guard, making you more susceptible to negative energies, for instance bringing in the bad, possession, and such. I feel more religious readers or psychics lean towards this. 2: This i…

Most every day I shuffle addictively and pull one card out in the morning, and one in the evening just to practice the meanings. Yes, I'll look up what I have about them in my notes and various resources. Well, today, both times and once last night, I pulled up the Hermit. I was reading something in a book about him last night, wrote a note to myself to go back over two particular paragraphs on a bookmark and naturally forgot about it. I pulled the Hermit again just a few moments ago, remembered the bookmark and went over these two paragraphs. I've also been flipping the Page of Swords a lot, and the Queen of Swords a lot. The only readings I do for myself is a weekly rea…

I bought this book some time ago. What I liked about it was that the blurb said it focused on learning and using the tarot in a practical way so that readings were accurate, and not wishy-washy or ambiguous. However, I haven't had a lot of time to go through it and just wondered if anyone here has studied with this book and what they thought of it, and if they have any advice on how to work my way through it. (Can it be done in 10 minute time slots, for instance, or is it better to set aside an hour and work through it. That kind of thing.) Thank you. :)

I am reading a book, Tarot Interactions by Debra Lipp, which is very good. She said that when you read cards for yourself you should read them outloud. I don’t have my study set up in my new home right now, so I don’t have a very private space to read—there may be family members around. I do read things in a very low voice sometimes, but sometimes I transcribe my direct thoughts on what the card means into my journal. It doesn’t seem to affect accuracy, what do you all think? Is it really always necessary to read for yourself out loud? The author said the reason for this was that our brains process the information differently when we speak it.

Hi dear fellow tarot readers, I have been using the tarot for a long time now and it really helps me to develop insights about myself and how I relate to others. Lately I have been noticing a trend and would like to hear your views on this. The tarot seems to be very accurate when my mind is empty and I own my feelings. When I am tense and afraid concerning the topic I ask a question about, the tarot seems to only mirror my fears. For instance, I get the moon a lot then. Or the nine of swords. Or when I want to control certain life events, instead of an answer to the question, I get the four of pentacles. When I need the answer NOW, I get the impatient knight of wands. O…

Sorry if this is a repeat thread. Let me know if it is! I was wondering when do you all stop shuffling? My friend said she feels electricity/energy and knows it's time to stop. Another said he hears a voice say it in his head. What about all of you?

Recently I was reading the tarot on a big website (not a tarot site) and I got a lot of medical and legal type of questions asked. I was told by my tarot books to stay away from these types of questions, so I told the possible querents in my OP that I wouldn't be answering these types of questions. But I still got them anyway. How do handle a question like, "Will I live?" or "I am going to the doctor next week and will I have some good news?" If you tell them "Sorry I cannot answer medical questions." Won't that just piss them off? I guess my question is, "How do you handle these types of issues?" How do you give these people some hope with yo…

Hi, I wish to expand my deck collection, but I'm really attached to my RWS deck so I don't want to probably ignore it. It's like my first born 🙂 But I feel adding more to the collection will help me learn more and become a better reader. Please advice with a deck that is simple, yet adds more to my learning (over and above RWS). I'm not a fan of fairy, cats, overly dark decks, maybe not too modern too...preferably something direct and accurate with a good guidebook with it or resources to read up on the internet to understand it better. Oh Gawd...I think I have too many criteria's ..but I am sure I will get some …

recently the four of swords has made several appearances which reminded me how the typical description and meaning most authors ascribe to this card has never seemed satisfactory to me in consideration of the actual image. pretty much all the materials i've read describe this as an image of a man or knight "resting" in a serene, protected place, implying ideas related to the positive aspects of of inactivity, renewing energies through rest, recuperation from illness, et cetera. waite's own pictoral key describes the figure as an effigy on a tomb, but it has always seemed to me the lid doesn't look fully installed, clearly one corner is intentionally offset to …

Hello, Everyone. It’s been awhile since I’ve logged in here. I’m reading a lot about archetypes from a number of sources and, at the same time, learning new songs on my guitar. One of my favorites is Tom Waits ‘Shiver Me Timbers’ and this morning I started thinking that it might contain an archetype if leaving or the one who consciously leaves everything behind. Also a very beautiful song. I First thought of the fool but the man in the song is not an innocent. He is longing for something and he does have a structured life he is yearning to leave behind, A wife and friends he trusts to break the news of his leaving to her. So which card? Maybe the four of wands as…

I am curious how others do readings where there is no question. I have an approach I call the four card three card reading I developed from various sources. It started as a three card reading, then I added another card. The meaning of the fourth card varies depending on the sitter. Take a typical reading. Some will react positively because you knew all about them. These people want practical answers. The identical reading will also get a reaction of disappointment. They will say you just told them what they already know. They want mystical answers. You don't need to get deep into the reading to tell the difference. Usually i…

I'm wanting to do more readings with my Hermetic Deck, but I'm finding the version of the Celtic Cross suggested in the LWB (version by Godfrey Dowson) to be a little long for my schedule at the moment. I know there must be a bazzillion spreads out there, but wondering if someone with experience with this deck (or similar) would recommend a spread 4-6 cards approx so I don't loose my mind while learning this system. I'm yet to buy any books on the subject, so I don't know if there are any 'Golden Dawn preferred' spreads, nor have I really experimented with 'free reading' yet - putting down cards till the story has been told. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
