Many times do I see on Tarot social media sites, people saying that their fave card is The Tower, Death, The Devil, Moon reversed etc. Now, I know that these are fascinating cards, however favourite cards? And they seem to welcome the appearance in readings of these. The main reasons are that they: ...like a challenge...it's best to embrace the darkness ... it makes you more spiritual etc. Now i appreciate that these statements are true, but to me these are hard-core cards with tradition & pedigree of hard times to say the least. And as much as people in the west like to think of themselves as Zen we don't have the philosophy of the Orient: in the west, unless…

Where do you draw the line on your readings? Who do you refuse? Is it a vibe or an aura off someone or a premonition that something is "off"? Do you abstain from alcohol or other drugs before a reading, ie., keep it sober? Or do you partake to loosen up the wheels, so to speak? Or do you just whip out the cards and let her rip? I'm just curious as to what everyone does to prepare themselves for reading if anything at all.

Greetings! I am new to this forum and tarot in general. I find tarot to be very fascinating and I have recently started to make an effort to become better at it but I often find myself puzzled by cards and their complex meanings when combined together. One such example is this simple one card reading I did today. The question was about my ex with whom I had a sort of an odd break up (she just vanished without a word) 3 months ago. I've been trying to get in touch with her for some time but she's avoiding me. My question was, what does she think of me this period, I pulled The Sun and then Judgement as a clarifier card. Could someone try to interpret this pair?…

Hello all! I have spent a lot of time looking for easy, beginner's tarot books. My head is spinning and I still do not have a book. Can you guys recommend a good one? Since I am a beginner, I do not need, as a first book, anything more than the basics and what each card means. I have experience with divination decks so I understand how a spread works but the tarot is completely new to me. Thank you for any help you can provide. Quinn

I definitely have spirits manifesting applicable things as I do spreads, but, is that what Tarot is? Just your spirituality communicating with you? Or, is there a greater phenomenon behind the results of the cards?

While contemplating The Fool for the 78 Weeks study, I've been trying to think of moments that are kind of a Fool moment ... how The Fool fits in with life, songs, and so on. This moment from the show "Third Rock from the Sun" popped into my head;

Do you sometimes feel like everything we do, every thought we make, and every act we take is ultimately geared towards a fixed future that we inexorably, inevitably are moving to fulfill? Like we already have a fixed end and that all the semblance of control and will that we seem to have are nothing but mere illusions serving a strict, immovable deity - personified best by the primordial goddess Ananke. We might make all these readings and predictions and we act according to the cards we pull, but if these draws and our subsequent actions have been determined from the very start, then we're still just acting out the part that's been designed for us. Our Books of Life h…

This isn’t a query about a particular draw. Rather I wanted to see what others think on this issue. Let’s say there’s a subject on which we have strong feelings and opinions. Could be anything from a political opinion to a strong family relationship. I feel I imprint too many of my emotions on a reading and the cards drawn show me what I want to see rather than what I should see..... How often do you doubt your readings on subjects you’re emotionally invested in? Where you may feel you’ve drawn cards that back your emotions and feelings and validate your viewpoint. In such situations do you feel a prickle of doubt?

recently the four of swords has made several appearances which reminded me how the typical description and meaning most authors ascribe to this card has never seemed satisfactory to me in consideration of the actual image. pretty much all the materials i've read describe this as an image of a man or knight "resting" in a serene, protected place, implying ideas related to the positive aspects of of inactivity, renewing energies through rest, recuperation from illness, et cetera. waite's own pictoral key describes the figure as an effigy on a tomb, but it has always seemed to me the lid doesn't look fully installed, clearly one corner is intentionally offset to …

Lately many creators have decided to create tarot deck in their own way. There are too many that don't follow any of the traditional tarot systems. Some examples that I can think of are the Mary El Tarot and Osho Zen Tarot are some examples. What would those types of tarot called? They can't be oracle cards because they are constructed as a 78 card deck with the 22 Majors and 56 minors, but it's not really a traditional tarot since some of the titles are changed around. Is there any work that describes those types of decks?

Hi all, I'm working through my RWS deck - taking one card and day and journaling about it. I'm really enjoying this as I feel I'm connecting with each card differently, and I hope it will enable me to remember some of the main themes of the cards to assist in readings. However, I'm kind of itching to do a reading for myself, and I'm not sure if that's me or the cards telling me to get going 😆 Should I wait until I've worked through all the cards with my journaling before starting some basic readings for myself? Or would it be a good idea to do readings alongside the journaling, to help build a relationship with my deck? Thanks

Anyone want to talk ethics? [surprising it a topic that causes many to start gnawing there own limbs off] I’ve been looking at different codes-of-ethics on tarot sites and there appears to be very little consistency (or indeed actual ethics) 😯 I’m a philosopher and have an interest in professional ethics so keen to hear any forum members opinion on the below (or other) ethical topics. * most so-called codes-of-ethics are just a list of codified rules to follow … not ethics * there is no such thing as ‘personal ethics’ as this would be divorced of any external method of judgement and incapable of assessing right/wrong … it’s just pure su…

How would you read a reversed Queen of Pentacles for aspects of career that cannot be changed? I read it as non-traditional, non- profit, investments required. Job for passion and not just for money.

I'm curious to know what others think... I did a reading this evening for someone which made no sense at all to them. The cards seemed really clear to me and a narrative came through - but the querent was quite sure that it wasn't relevant to them/their life. I'm still building experience so I'm completely willing to believe that I got it wrong but I'm curious to know what other people do and say in those circumstances? How do you deal with it and what do you say to the querent? The odd thing is that when I looked again at the cards, the reading could relate very easily to a close family member of mine who is having a lot of trouble in their life at present. H…

Hey all! I'm fairly new to tarot, and I just got a really pretty deck. I did a six-card deck introduction spread, and for the first position, "What is your most important characteristic?" I got the 5oP. I'm honestly baffled. Is the deck wounded somehow? Does it need my charity? Is it offering me charity that I need? Or am I missing something? For context, spread is 5oP AoW NoC 5oC XXI QoC Any advice is appreciated!

For those of you who like Doug's tarots at Duck Soup. He is going to be putting up on Kickstarter a new tarot called The Crooked Way. It's a dark gothic style tarot. Looks to be very interesting if you like this style. You can see pics on his website below. http://www.tarotbyducksoup.com/

Hello friends, I have these questions on my mind today. How do you use your tarot practice in the more difficult times of your life? Are there spreads that you like, questions that you ask, do you take a break from the cards completely? I lost two pets this year, they were my best friends and the loss weighs heavily on me despite the passage of time. Sometimes it's less hard, sometimes all I can do is think about the empty space in my life and how much I miss them. I've done the usual things, talked to my therapist, my friends, I've made small memorials, written in my journal, looked at the pictures and videos in my phone... I'm wondering how I can use tarot as another th…

Hi all, With a new year fast approaching I'm wondering how many of you calculate your year card and, if so, what year will 2018 be for you? I calculate my card on every birthday and for 2018 I'll be staring down The Hanged Man. This is a card I've always had a little difficulty with so I guess I'll be learning his lessons first hand. I'm hoping this year brings a lot of new insights and a deeper connection to my own integrity. If you don't know how to calculate your year card it's quite simple. Here's the method I use. You add up your day and month of birth to the year you want to calculate your card for. For example: 4 + 12 + 2018 = 2034 = 2 + 3 + 4 = 9 (if …

We all know the king of wands is a self absorbed, self entitled, mean but hypersexual emotionless man of fire and passion. But I'm curious to know what would upset/ P off the king of wands. I was thinking that ignoring him, not paying attention to him, paying lots of love and affection and praise to someone other than him. I'm curious to hear other ppls thoughts.

HI EVERYONE! I'm new here :) I did a search for TAROT COMBINATIONS. I've been very fascinated and focused on this aspect of reading spreads lately. I didn't see anything in the search but I'm new to that! Any suggestions on how to search for this topic on the sight are very welcome. If nothing comes up, where would be the appropriate place to start such a discussion? I've found some useful info online but nothing that really resonates profoundly. I'll take any book suggestions gladly as well, if you can personally recommend them. ;) Thanks for reading and have a TeaRiffic Day! Iggi

Just received an email from US Games stating they are shutting down March 23 due to COVID 19. The state of Connecticut issued a shut down order for all non-essential workers and businesses. I'm thinking that, along with many other industries, the mass market tarot publishing industry is going to be pretty quiet for the foreseeable future. I wasn't planning on buying many, if any, tarot decks for the rest of this year anyway so I'll focus on my existing decks. Lo Scarabeo is based in Italy so I don't expect them to be functional at present. Not sure about companies like Lewellyn and Schiffer. AGM Urania are based in Germany so they are likely out of action too…

I think it's so cool that two decks I love because of how cute and understated they are and who leave a lot to the imagination turned out to be based on one of the few decks I've seen where the only ambiguity is often the overwhelming amount of information given. Learning "dominion" is the card title of the two of wands from the Son and Moon and it's decan from the Thoth - where Aries indisputably enjoys hanging out in Mars - helps me understand the man from the Two of Wands in the Tarot Nova who's getting his head knocked off. I plan on taking this slowly, but I'm sure that soon I'll be able to answer the burning question every Tarot Nova user has ever asked…

So i am about a month in to a break up with someone who I thought was my forever mate. He is fearful avoidant & we broke up because of his fear of marriage and children (I want both) I drew these cards last night to ask what he thinks and feels of me currently and our potential relationship in the future. Can I get help make sense of this? IThanks for the insight cards pulled: ten of cups, strength, 4 of wands and ace of cups reversed.
