I hope this is the right place to post this. I want to avoid using Amazon but I need some recommendations for good alternatives for Tarot, preferrably in the EU (because of customs). Where do you get your mass market decks? I want to buy a couple of new ones but I'm having a hard time finding them elsewhere.

Hi, I’m new here, I started my journey with cards during the first lockdown. I often do my own cards as I’m trying to learn. This morning I have done my own reading, a Celtic cross (10) cards, 7 out of the 10 cards were major arcana cards, I’ve never had this many before, could anyone advise what this means? I’m going through a pretty difficult situation at present and had asked how the next few months will be. Am I allowed to discuss which cards I pulled? many thanks

I’m keen to hear any views on predictive tarot and how you thinks that gels (or doesn’t) with the concept of free will. non-judgemental and non-critiqued (which is crazy hard for a philosopher) … just really interested in what position readers hold. thanks.

I don't mean this in as a criticism or pettiness. I just hope it will give people pause for thought. For many, many years, we readers have been accused of reading body language, making stuff up, preying on the vulnerable, etc. So when I see someone saying "oh, I read him last week" it feels kind of like fingernails on a chalkboard. I read cards for a client---I don't read clients, minds or people's body language or anything else other than the cards. When a reader says he or she read someone, it may seem like the "professional" expression to use, but I hope people will give a thought to how it sounds to others. Again, this isn't a criticism of anyone here. It's …

Hello, Lately, I been curious about tarot reading. Okay, more like how do each individuals read the cards? Or more like what is your method? Since no person read the same. Personally, I have to describe the image as well the colors to answer the person question. Hm, does intuitive counts? If not, than sticking to the pretty picture 🤣

I have read lots of advice that says to record your daily card in a journal. I appreciate that everyone's way of journalling will be different but I was wondering if you could describe or show me some of your examples to give me ideas to get me started. What kind of things do you find useful to record? Do you find you refer back to your entries at a later date? How do you lay out the information? Do you have separate sections for different information? Digital or paper? I feel like there's so many choices it's a bit overwhelming to know how to get started.

Hi everyone! I recently became interested in the symbols and meanings (and also games) of tarot cards. I particularly like the Italian and Swiss types. My interest in history and art has helped me a bit; for instance the Death card to me looked immediately like a renaissance “memento mori” (remember death will come to us all, how would that affect your actions today?). Are there any books or sources where they focus on such historical interpretations? Thank you!

Hello there For years doing live readings i would close my eyes and attempt psychic readings before i lay out the cards.. but after the soul card. Allow me to explain Well let me sum up before i explain. I am a big believer in grounding, raising vibration/sitting in power before doing any spiritual work, being it tarot, or healing like reiki. So i never been one to just throw a card down at a moment notice. For me it is a sacred ritual i realize, a cermony if you will so i can access that inuitative part of my brain. I am also a big proponent of energy flow, and feeling it. I find without it the ability to express the cards become mute…

It has now been approximately 12 hours since the Aeclectic Tarot Forums have closed the doors. I wanted to do something to commemorate, in some small way, everything that The Forums was. So, with that in mind, I'm doing a give-away of the Sedona Vortex Tarot! I'm going to set an alarm on my computer (and phone :D) for a secret time on ... oh, let's say Wednesday, 19 July 2017 to give time for lots of folks to hear about this. When my alarm goes of, the last post in the thread at that time will be the winner! So, go ahead and chat away! You can talk about whatever strikes your fancy! Have fun conversations! Edit to add a bit more info on the deck; This deck is …

In my daily spread I've sometimes been getting difficult/challenging cards in the advice posistion and I've started to think about what they can mean when they come up like that. I'm talking about cards like The Tower, 9 of Swords, 5 of Pentacles etc. Are they saying I'm a jerk who could do with some of the trouble sometimes implicated by these kinds of cards or is it more of a "it's not as bad as you think and you've survived this before" sort of message? Are they softened by coming up as advice or is that just wishful thinking on my behalf? Hoping someone more experienced than me could chime in on this!

I came across many youtube videos where people modify their decks, trimming and edging them. I feel that with the trimming and edging the deck will get a different energy or people disturb deck's energy. Plus if trimming all cards borders out, they won't be exactly the same size as they were when you buy it, and ink on edges might smudging hands(?). What is your opinion about it? (I don't want to offend anybody, this is only my opinion :) ) Blessings to all :)

Hi everyone! Besides being a tarot enthusiast, I am also a board game geek and wanted to share a cute little discovery of mine... I came across this simple game called "Shahrazad", which is supposed to be about fairy tales from around the world. But the names of the 22 tiles (visible through the link below) more than rings a bell for you and me ;) https://boardgamegeek.com/image/3855430/shahrazad I thought that if there are other tarotistas who like board games around, they might be interested! It's a very simple game where you have to lay the tiles one after the other in a certain way so as to score as many points as possible. It's also one of those little gam…

Certain caveats: I am aware that the Myers-Briggs 16 Personalities has been the subject of harsh criticism among psychologists. Matching the 16 Personality Types with the Court Cards isn't new. It's been done before, and many websites show it. I may be posting in the wrong place in the Forum. Having said all of the above, I want to say that I can't do much about the debates going on among psychologists as to the merits of the Myers-Briggs tests, as I have no Major in Psychology. I'm just a tarot card reader; that the various Tarot websites online themselves don't agree which personality type matches the cards; if I posted in the wrong place, I hope a…

I have a large variety of decks to choose from and I like to switch it up. I know some people has a "special" deck that they use exclusively. I have found that I can switch up decks as long as they are RWS clones and that the artist hasn't changed the imaging too much. I have built up a relationship with the system. Of course I have my favorites tarot deck. I haven't done much tarot reading lately as I've been concentrating on learning an oracle deck. Oracles don't have consistent systems. So I can see the advantage of really learning the one I have been working with before learning others. What do you guys do? Do you consistently use the sa…

Somewhere was a post with the question what people wished they had known when they started reading tarot (I went looking and couldn't find it here so it might not have been on this forum). Someone responded that not including reversals in their reading takes half of the vocabulary away from the tarot that the cards could use to convey their message. This hit some chord inside me and when I sat down with my cards today, I decided to include reversals. So I thoroughly shuffled my cards without any consideration to which way around they would end up in the final pile. And then in my reading ALL cards were reversed! Including the card on the bottom of the p…

Hi there, My name is Jennifer, I am new to the whole world of tarot and I could really do with some help and advice... When my beloved and spiritual grandmother passed away I acquired her deck of tarot cards, Grimaud, Grand Etteilla. From my research I understand that this tarot deck is a particularly older style and does not always fit into the meanings and interpretations of general tarot. Now as I have a connection to these cards through being passed them from a family member I am keen to learn them however I cannot seem to find a lot of in depth information about them other than the general meanings of each card and as it seems they should be treated and…

Hi all, I'm pretty new here so please bear with me if this is a silly question ::) Anyway, I'm kind of stuck on the associations with the suits... Swords = Air Wands = Fire Cups = Water Pentacles = Earth I can remember Cups = Water = Emotional depth, or Pentacles = Earth = Growing prosperity. But I can't see Swords as Air and Wands as Fire, in my mind it's the other way around. I guess I just think of Swords not only being by smoldering heat, but also representing destructive power, like fire. Where as Wands feels much more airy to me, as you direct a wand through the air with intention and focus, causing invisible change, like wind. So... I'm just w…

So, I can't really post the readings cuz they're for other people and I wanna keep their stuff relatively private u_u Last night, I was getting cards for some readings I was doing and I hit some bumps in the road. In one reading, I got two identical cards. This is fine, since the deck itself has duplicates, so I can use the alternate card. However, usually, I wouldn't include the alternate designs since that's A Lot of Cards to shuffle. I didn't think too much of it, but then, in another reading, I got the same card twice, which wouldn't be possible with a physical deck. Should I include these cards, or use the alternate versions? If I do include them, how shoul…

Hi Everyone, I wanted to share the results that came out of some meditation I did yesterday to spark some conversation and elicit some perspectives. As background, I've been most recently been working with the Wildwood deck but have had a lot of difficulty with the Court cards because I am not attuned to the animal attributes (yet). I felt like this was impacting my ability to deliver good readings, particularly those in the relationship domain, without relying very heavily on the supporting deck material which at times feel flat, uninspired, and fairly lacking in substantive information (at ones that spoke to me) on the Court animals. Anyway, this is a long j…
