We all know that 7 of cups means options, dreams, illusions and others of the same nature. I don't know why I don't want to read this particular card as illusion or dreams. Illusions, dreams are all manifestations of the mind. Isn't more of a swords thing since swords suit somehow relates to mind (thoughts.)? I always take this card as option.

Hi all... I have been thinking of getting a thoth deck lately and was wondering about what you all have to say, people who are using it and used it. I also have heard that this deck may not be of good energy, is that true? I have also heard that this deck is less about divination and more about spiritual ascension. I really like the deck and some of the ideas behind it, the ones i heard and understood. Just want to understand more before i take the plunge... what to expect, dos and don't and stuff like that. I would be very grateful if anyone could respond to this. Thank you 🙏

I've heard that the Tarot is a subtle but elaborate cartomantic system that is better-suited to address questions that require deep insight. It prefers to give detailed, nuanced, and oftentimes layered answers. As such, I've read that it does not perform well when used on questions that require the use of direct Yes/No spreads that feature straightforward card interpretations like majors are Yes, courts are No, etc. For this reason, I haven't really used the Tarot for Yes/No questions. Which I think is a bit of a shame since many queries can be reduced to straight Yes/No affairs. Will I have an SO next year? Will I get the job I desire? Will my stalker ever stop? Will …

I am frequently struck by a song which makes me think of a particular Tarot card. Meaning that what the song is about, it's lyrics and ideas, fit in strongly with the meanings or symbolism of a given card. I thought it might be fun and even a good learning opportunity to discuss some of these songs and how and why they fit with a card or cards. Here's one that recently struck me in that way; Joan Jett; "You Don't Own Me" (lyrics are there with the song). I felt that two people are in this song; the person singing it as well as the person it is directed at. First, I felt the Page of Wands could be the person singing. Very independent, young, not wanting to be "ti…

Hello, it's been weighing on me for years that I lost friends over a tarot reading and it makes me nervous to read for friends even now. Before I do readings for anyone I always make a point of telling them that I am simply a conduit for information that I deliver and that I may say anything without a filter. Sometimes I don't even recall everything I say in a reading. During the reading it came up that the wife had cheated on her husband and when I said that to her she burst into tears. It seems that he knew about it already and they had worked through it as a couple but when I brought it up again I caused her distress. I was never invited back to their home and …

Hi all, I am completely new to tarot and am trying to learn the cards and their meanings whilst also trying to let intuition guide me rather than simply memorising things. I am currently pulling a card a day for myself and trying to write my intuitive thoughts first and then looking up the meanings after. Wondered how everyone else started out or any tips for the best way to learn as a complete novice.

Hello everyone I just thought I'd share some insights I had about the 8 of Swords. I was doing a reading for myself, using my Dealing With Difficult Relatives at Thanksgiving spread. For the last position, "a way to decompress and de-stress when it's all over", I got the 8 of Swords. That card didn't make a whole lot of sense in a position about de-stressing, so I had to really think about it a bit. To get some kind of positive answer from this card, I had to look at its imagery (I was using the Hanson-Roberts deck, which is fairly similar to the RWS). I thought about the woman being blindfolded, and how that could possibly be a good thing. I realized that blin…

Hi all! :D I'm starting this thread to discuss the use of tarot cards in spirit communication. I was interested in a thread on the Aeclectic Tarot forums about someone who used tarot cards in a Séance, and was wondering if anyone else here has used them this way? I know that everyone has there own beliefs about Tarot. Most people will probably say that there is some form of spirit that is being contacted or channeled during a reading (me included). But recently someone asked me if she could speak to a deceased family member, and this sort of put me off. I don't usually sit with my cards and ask Nan how she is... so to speak, could anyone help me with this one? H…

The youtube tarot readings mostly seem to be done by the each horoscopic signs, 12 signs in total. Some readers do monthly, and some weekly and sometimes with the bonus reading for each different signs. But there are 12 signs in total, and there are billions of people living in the world. How does one sign reading cover the whole people of the sign in the reading? Surely there can be billions of people sharing the same horoscopic sign, and would the reading cover all the people under the same sign? Does it make sense? Are there any principles or theories that the horoscope sign based tarot readings work for all the people under the same sign? …

I have a great interest in the RWS infamous "stage cards". For those of you who haven't noticed (i only noticed 2-3 months ago, and i've studying them for 10 months) in certain minor cards Pamela Coleman-smith has drawn two thin lines at the bottom of the card, which makes it look like a stage at a theater and the background a backdrop...perhaps the 2 of cups and the page of cups are the best examples. Apparently Coleman-smith worked as an artist at the theater at the time, and Waite was secretive and a bit of a pompous-ass about the meanings. I have counted 15 although a couple are debatable. I have read that there are two reasons and meanings for the stage cards…

I'm curious if the judgement card represents karma? I was doing a reading for myself about a very painful event that happened to me when I was younger that will be with me for life. I asked 'why did I have to experience this event in my life?' So the first thing I thought about when seeing this card was karma. Do you agree with this? I mean I know the description says rebirth but that doesn't really make sense to me.

Doesn't it mean more work for you to work out whether the card is positive or negative or to figure out a narrative? Or do you just accept that the card's meaning is probably a combination of both negative and positive aspects? I'm new to tarot and I presently don't read reversals but that's more because I have a semi-heart attack whenever I see them (like when I see 'the tower' upright). Now i'm wondering whether it'd make my life a tad more easier to do so.

Have you ever dreamed (as in night dreams) about tarot cards? If you see cards in your dream would you try to interpret them as if you were getting that card in a draw? What if the imagery was different somehow.. I dreamed that I asked what my bf (right now on another continent) feels about me and first card was 5 of pentacles from the Connolly deck which features a blindfolded woman by a closed gate and and angel touching her blindfold. But the weird part is that the regular image was on the face up (like usually where the generic image on the back of the cards are), but on the other side a woman sits on a harbor blindfolded with lots of kids around her…

As Tarot Readers, have you noticed the baby under the queens throne in the "Queen of Cups"- Rider Waite Deck. "I am curious for the ones who are drawn to the baby what does it signify for you? For me I see the queen of cups as considering all of her bottled up emotions and is preparing to send a message in a bottle. I see the queen as trying to free her self, her mind, her emotions. I see her as being at the end of her ropes, i see this card as being suicidal and writing a suicide note. On one hand she can use all the energy she mustard into her cup to control the waves she sits in front of or she can allow the energy of her emotions to run free and the emoti…

Have you had any accurate predictions by using tarot cards?

Does anybody here have a mentor/s who actually took you under their wings and taught you face-to-face all that they know about the Tarot? It can be an old relative or your parents even, if the gift has been passed down your family line for generations. It can be a close friend who happened to be an expert, or a Tarot luminary who saw your promise. It can be gratis or it may involve an exchange of resources, as long as you had a close and sincere bond with them while you were under their tutelage.

I'm not sure I've titled this question clearly. But a few times I've come across a negative answers to a positive question and positive answers in negative spaces, where it becomes very difficult to understand how a card could be read positively or negatively. For example asking "What is not broken in this relationship?" and getting the Three of Swords in that position. Is this saying "Everything is broken. RUN." or is the Three of Swords in this position saying "Broken hearts are not irreparably broken." Or you ask "What went wrong in the relationship between the Q and their ex?" And you get the Ten of Cups? How can you judge it negatively? Is it saying "Actually, …

I am working with Face Up spreads as described by Mary Greer to work on recovering from a long relationship with a covert narcissist. I am re-learning how to trust myself and set strong boundaries. I am exploring my own inner peace and strength. What cards would you say embody these qualities of strength, inner peace, and self love?

I used to use a fancy cloth that I got from eBay to do my readings on. But my primary way of mixing the cards is riffle shuffling the cards, however I noticed that the cloth would move around on the tabletop when I did that. So, I switched to a jewelers' display pad, but I found the pad wasn't thick enough or big enough to do the layout on. Then I found the perfect solution - The Magicians close-up pad. It makes riffle shuffling easier and they come in different sizes. I have two of them, a red one 11 X 16 which is perfect for my monthly coffee shop gig in which I do three card spreads. And my big pad which I do my regular layout of the…

I say all the time what a crazy journey this has been for me. I don't need to go into why but just... getting into this world of Tarot has been a trip. And I have been wrestling with the question of why I want to do this. At first I had these ideas of how I was gonna read Tarot so differently and from my own vantage point of mystical christian values. Then I get on this forum and it becomes apparent that my values don't necessarily make sense in the world of Tarot, and something different is going on. I kept doing readings but I felt weird, I wasn't sure of what I was doing anymore. I started to wonder if this was even good, and yet the fascination was there, I ador…

I would appreciate it if others would share their approach to pesky yes/no questions... not good yes/no questions, like "Should I take this job that appeals to me but pays less than my current job?" (I can think of several good ways to tackle that), but banal ones like "Will the Atlanta Braves have a winning season?"

Do you have any favorite podcasts or youtubers? I've only really watched Kelly-Ann Maddox, and love her channel dearly, but would love some suggestions. Anything really educational/thought provoking with some meaty content. :D
