I came across this Lenormand deck for sale in a website. I quite like the “clean” and vintage aesthetics, but I also noticed that each card has two PCs inserts instead of one, which I had never seen before. Also, the style of the pips in each insert is different, as if they came from different decks. Any idea what they refer to? Have you ever seen a Lenormand like this before? Thanks!

I know many people do forecasts and I'd like some tips and advice because I never really managed to get the hang of them. I noticed in one of the exchange threads that there seems to be some uncertainty about significators in line spreads. (They're doing 3 cards over there, but this would also apply to lines of five, seven, etc.) Normally I don't preselect the Significator and put it in between the other two cards since I find that limiting. You certainly can if you want to, but I prefer having the whole deck available for the draw. It's possible the cards will talk about a situation that requires all three cards, or one that puts the Significator first or last, not in the middle. It would be very difficult to ascertain that the company you work for is cooking the books, or your cat …

What are some characteristics that really bother you in Lenormand decks? Like, deal-breakers. Personally, I am kinda bothered when the Clouds card don't have a brighter and darker side, because positioning is so importante to me in a spread. Also, when the "people" cards (Man and Woman) are facing ahead, so they can never be looking towards or away from each other. It kind of kills the potential for "narrative", in my opinion. I'm curious if other people are bothered by such things or if I'm just awfully nit-picky.

Hi, has anyone had the experience of using Lenormand to communicate with loved ones in spirit ?. I was thinking this as a way of maybe helping others.

I am interested to see how others do their dailies. Here is how mine have been done but I am wondering where there is room for improvement - the question always makes me wonder that. 1 - shuffle with the question “give me insight into my day, today” as my focus while doing so 2 - read the cut, I use this as an overall influence of the day 3 - deal out three cards and read as something more specific to occur during the day. I read them as storybook format. So does anyone have a way they might read their dailies, keeping in mind my interest in more traditional style of reading? Thanks !

@timtoldrum suggested a thread for this, and I agree that it's vital. As for the Birch Rods, I always guessed that the association with stationery was due to the tail of the whip looking like the flourish on a signature, but I could be very, very wrong! Looking forward to this thread. 🙂

In looking at the Brepols (Jeu Lenormand CM), there remain two "What is that?" mysteries considering the Jack of Hearts and the Moon card. In the Moon card: The "blank" space behind the mountains; scans from worn-out cards perhaps? The Jack of Hearts: What does he hold in his hand? Also: Does anyone know who exactly designed the deck around 1920? (Brepols Publishing, single artist? Groupwork?) Kind regards

Hi everyone, I’m curious how different readers approach the people cards and what’s your reasoning for choosing to read one card as a person and not the other. On this forum, I’ve encountered multiple mentions of the “social card + person card” combo approach. According to it, a card can be read as a person if it’s connected with the House, the Dog, the Lilly, the Moon and the Park (correct me if I’m wrong?). If you utilize this method, do you consider only those cards that touch the person card or also look at the mirroring/knighting cards as well? If the former, does it matter what side of the person card is touched by the social card, or does the social car…

So my general reading question is this, to perform a GT for myself for a one month period what is the best way to phrase it to start off the process right. I was thinking; ”Show the month of August 2021 for myself” and then change the month as appropriate to the time frame. Does this seem specific enough and targeted directly at what to expect within my own personal month ? Yes I often overthink the simple to the point of lunacy 🤪 As always your input is appreciated ! I’ve just bought a reprint copy of this classic game/deck. I notice the instructions state (presumably translated from the original German) : ’2nd improved edition’. I’m wondering how the first edition differed and if the first edition instructions have ever been translated/made available?

The title says it: Did you come across them? One which made itself known in a little circle is the mountain-coffin (in an otherwise positive 5 card reading, beeing located in the middle). It is the end of a blockade, like a mountain crumbling. It does not feel nice, yet enables to move on. On the other hand, the mountain-mice never appeared with a heads up: The card following it is strongly impeded in its functionality. Which ones did pop up/made themselves known in your readings?

Hi everyone, I’m curious how you guys read cards when you’re asking them what course of action to take. I find that oftentimes they only describe my current issue, and I get confused where to look for the advice itself. A recent example: Whip + Lilies + Fish + Bear + Bouquet. My mother has found herself in a difficult situation because she has to take care of her sick parents, while her sister refuses to help. I have spent time looking for lenormand decks that I found interesting on etsy edited in 2019, may 3. I skipped any lenormand that had like for example 42 cards instead of 36,, I also skipped older looking decks for I really want some beautiful decks, that said, I skipped a deck that was too modern, the rider was riding a motorcycle bike ! that I dont' mind but perhapsit was the way it was presented.

The art is taken from Yellow Submarine, and it is, as expected, busy. This is not a deck I would recommend for beginners, nor would I use it myself for large spreads. But if you're thoroughly familiar with Lenormand and old Beatles tracks, it's a fun deck. And it looks like the artist did put some thought into it. So...I'm having problems doing timing readings, and it has been bugging me for a while. I know that certain readers do timing predictions with petit lenormand, either by a draw of five or a full GT (namely a timing board). Lenormand is a language. That's for sure. But I was wondering if we could translate certain phrases into the cards. At the end of the introduction of her book, Caitlín Matthews writes: "in translating my good wishes for your progress into Lenormand cards, may I wish you Clover + Sun + Anchor". That's what normally we are required to do: translate the messages from the cards. What about, as an interpretative exercise, do the reverse? For example, as a start: the dating app Tinder would be the Roads + the Heart + the Scythe (options + love + swift decision). What can you come up with?

Following with german playing inserts..(as in andy b book) i realized it falls with my ojibwe medicine wheel. I will also be following caitlin matthews 4 destinies where it pertains to the inserts. So here is a visual i know the wheel is square.. but best i could do.

Based on the idea that the Tower does not mean bureaucracy, which card (or combination of them) would mean that? The Tower is said to mean buildings of high importance, including courthouses and government buildings. How to express bureaucracy, officialdom and even hierarchy, using the Tower? Similarly, how to represent the establishment, and all sorts of hierarchical systems, the “order” of things? Is there a need for another card to convey these ideas? If so, which ones? And, because I'm talking about the Tower: can it signify aloofness? What about chain-stores?
