Mme29 Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Thanks for this list! Much appreciated for a beginner who is just diving in~

AlexHarry Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 I have found Tarotingie to be so helpful and informative in getting to the crux of each card using Runes also, although I am still very much learning. I am keen to try out other resources posted here, thanks for sharing. Youtube search "Tarotingie".
AlexHarry Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Has anyone also found and read the book the Astrological Tarot by Georges Muchery? I picked this up in a 2nd hand store about 20 years ago as a kid. I've always wondered about its context - whether it comes with a deck or how to use.
rakara Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 EmeraldLotusDivination The site has a huge amount of tarot spreads, and advice for starting tarot.
Rossi Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 What deck would you recommend? Im thinking about Angel Tarot Cards but Im not sure which one should I start with.
gregory Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Why limit yourself to angel decks ? If you are starting out, you want something basic - probably the standard Smith-Waite.
Rossi Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Thank you Im trying to find the best option and Í will take your advice. Thanks
fire cat pickles Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I second @gregory here. You will probably want a standard deck like the Rider Waite at first. And avoid one with the meanings printed on it. https://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/rider-waite/
9livestarot Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Thank you for all the information, this was super helpful!
DanielJUK Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Just to add as a note on this thread for reference.... Joan Bunning's wonderful Learn Tarot free course (listed on the first post) has been online since 1995, really from the start of tarot resources online. It's still there but the site has no https address and secure certificate. Because of this, when you go to the site now, you will get a secure site warning in all modern browsers! It's a safe site and it's fine to add an exemption or to override the warning, but it's because the site is old. Let's hope she updates the site to https in future so it's around for more decades online 🙂

I ❤️ this effort! Collaborative efforts to educate warms my heart and I would like to assist any way I can as needed. I do have a couple questions, though. What stage is this project at as of now? Has this list been compiled and officially vetted yet, or is it still an ongoing project before quality and trustworthiness determination are made? Also, curious if there is alternatively an untrustworthy resource list being curated meanwhile, intentional or not? What about a paid resource list, trustworthy and/or not? Is there an active plan or intention to publish these too? In my opinion, it's equally important to inform others of recommendations for both what to look for as it is for what to avoid. But, it begs the question, what does it look like to vet any of these lists with an amount of accuracy most would need to trust in the final draft?

Moderators and Admin are not going to vet or endorse any particular website here. It's too slippery a slope due to (I'm sure) legal reasons. Members can comment on sites and services we feel are not trustworthy but I wouldn't expect any "official" list from the owners or administers here. Anyone can comment and suggest... 46 minutes ago, AprilShowers said: Also, curious if there is alternatively an untrustworthy resource list being curated meanwhile, intentional or not? As someone who has been a moderator and admin for websites, FB groups, and forums, I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole for liability reasons. I seriously doubt you'll find a list like this on any forum. A paid resource list would venture into the "endorsement" area and wouldn't be allowed either (per forum rules, probably). AprilShowers Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Interesting points, @fire cat pickles. I wonder if what is posted here already would be considered an endorsement by the Mods and Admin, since it has not been taken down/banned/etc so far. Members commenting about their individual opinions would never appear to be a site wide endorsement, I agree. I did not originally see @Raggydoll's list attempt here as an attempt to create a site wide endorsement. My comments were not to fan the flames of controversy and do apologize if that is how the tone of my questions come across. However, I still like this idea if it can be done in a way that doesn't create a liability for the forum as a while.
fire cat pickles Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) This isn't so much as a project as a guide for those who may be interested in online resources. Raggydoll was interested in reputable resources only, I believe. We should be careful not to disparage sites. Personally, I would stay well away from any youtube site, Reddit, IG, (most) Facebook groups, etc. Biddy Tarot does not align with my philosophy and regurgitates most of what you can easily Google on your own. Is this "disparaging?" I don't think so. Member's opinions are member's opinions. A forum cannot be held responsible for them. That's a far cry from a forum coming forward with a list that has "been compiled and officially vetted." I just wanted to make it clear that this is exactly what was not happening here. I didn't mean to offend you in any way @AprilShowers and my apologies if I did! I was just making it clear in case any of the owners of these site came across this thread, read it ,and were taken aback at some of the comments here 😉 Edited June 13, 2023 by fire cat pickles

What this forum regulates is personal promotion. No one is allowed to endorse their personal sites here, even if it has free information. What we do is that we tell each other about free resources that we like, and no one has a horse in the race. Just giving friendly tips. Let’s not get off topic with this, I ask.
Raggydoll Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) @fire cat pickles is right, we are looking for tips on the best free resources that others have found useful, and we are not discussing which sites someone should avoid. To have a personal negative opinion of a certain site is not a forum crime, but to discuss it here in this thread would be off topic. And to be clear, I’m not starting a separate thread for such a thing. If it’s what you are hoping to find @AprilShowers, maybe try facebook. I’m fairly sure the tarot groups there discusses such things. Now let’s get back to the nice free resources. I think it’s amazing that they exist! 🥳 Edited June 13, 2023 by Raggydoll Typo

Thanks for the clarification. I admit, it left me with more questions about TT&M's rules in general (it was my understanding that members are absolutely allowed to endorse their personal sites, within the rules and regulations applied). But that's getting further off topic here... On 2/5/2021 at 1:46 AM, Raggydoll said: I would like everyone's help in compiling this list. I would love for us to gather all the best links in one place so that those who are new to tarot or who wish to do a deep dive into a specific topic, can easily find a great starting point. I can add to this first post as new tips come in. Putting my questions about paid information aside, I'm still trying to understand. Compling, composing, curating, creating... feel like very similar words to me. I called it a "project" which may have been too big of a word for it, but it is still an effort to create a list. Gathering all the best links in one place for them to be added to your first post as new ones come in is what I'd like to help with if I am still welcome. 12 minutes ago, Raggydoll said: And to be clear, I’m not starting a separate thread for such a thing. Yes, let's get back to the talking about free resources, how great they are, and what makes you decide to add to your original post or not. I'd still like to know if you're willing to share. 19 minutes ago, fire cat pickles said: We should be careful not to disparage sites. I completely agree with this! I was wondering where the line was drawn here: is this strictly a collection of members opinions (and if so, why is there a list being formed of them here on the first post)? Is this a list that is being made with potential or actual reputable sources, and who else other than @Raggydoll decides what is added? Is this @Raggydoll's personal list that they're sharing with others? I'm only looking for clarification ❤️ Like I said before, I really like this idea! 35 minutes ago, fire cat pickles said: I didn't mean to offend you in any way @AprilShowers and my apologies if I did! Very kind of you; the internet can be a dry place in the absence of tone and body language and I find myself apologizing for potentially offending all the time...
Raggydoll Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) @AprilShowers In the initial thread post I specifically ask people to help me compile this list with their favorite resources. So this isn’t my list, I just created the thread and I helped edited it for a while 🙂. I think it’s fine that people share their tips in their post, it doesn’t have to go in the initial post that I made. And what I said is that personal promotion is regulated, not banned. So do read the forum rules to find out what is allowed and where. Finally, I said that in this thread, such things are not allowed, and that we should stay on topic, as per forum rules. So there I was just talking about this thread, not general forum rules. I’ll let the mods answer any further questions you may have, there is a separate forum section for asking questions. However, I would be glad if you didn’t make this discussion about me, because this resource is created by everyone and belongs to everyone. Thanks 🙂 Edited June 13, 2023 by Raggydoll
AprilShowers Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 @Raggydoll Based on your repeated mention of forum rules and regulations and how important it is to read them... it's clear to me that I've offended you. I'm not sure if I should thank you for this unsolicited advice or apologize if tagging you made you feel like I was attacking you or something. I asked well meaning questions about this thread's original intent and what came of the list it was designed to start. I hope you can begin to see my questions as directed at the subject matter and less about you personally. Thanks!
DanielJUK Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 This thread is descending into arguments, it's a reference thread for the links, let's keep it going as that. Thanks 😊 It's just recommended links by members to help others, nothing more or less. We don't allow people to suggest places to avoid as we would have to give them the right to reply. We don't allow self-promotion outside the specific sections, people cannot post their own free resources here. Thanks, let's get this thread back to being a reference thread for the resources, it not really a place for this discussion
marta_kjm Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Hi all, thanks for sharing! I recently found the below website while looking for a more in depth meaning of the hanged man, and I found it extremely helpful. It also offers snapshots of descriptions from different authors. It’s a great addition to the most known tarot websites. There are also other categories such as astrology, meditations and spirituality! I can’t share the link yet, but you can look for mysticdoorway.com Hope this helps!
