This week I am going to compare the Darkness of Light Tarot to my Deck of the Bastard.

I'm excited, as I am preparing to read at a large craft fair / festival here in my area in November.

Happy Friday everyone.

Hi friends, happy new week!

Hi Guys!

I will enjoy another week with the Flora and Fauna of Africa 🙂

I can however report, that this affirmation deck has not only African Animals but also quite a few from other continents!

The Komodo Dragon for example and a beautiful Cassowary for example.

Also the Plants are from everywhere, not only Africa.

So I also have the Red Headed Vulture paired with a Scotch Thistle!?

Sounds like they are including non-natives that have escaped their native land. 🙂

I don't have permissions to view -- I need to renew my subscription here.  I forgot the deck is OOP. I had better not write her, might get me into trouble. Thanks tho!

I'm in this week with the Prisma Visions Tarot paired with the Language of Color Cards.

Prisma Visions for me too!  The mini version, along with the Light Visions!  We will definitely need to compare notes!

I’ll be using Little Prisma Visions Tarot and Little Light Visions this week.  They’re the rest of the Triple Little Visions set by James R. Eads.  I’m doing them together because they’re the same illustrations, one with vibrant color (and silver edges), one in muted purple and white (with gold edges).  (I never mentioned, Cosma Visions has shiny black edges.)  Because they’re minis, and because of the illustration style, I think they’ll clarify each other if there are items that are hard for me to see.

These decks have panorama suits, like Cosma Visions, but with the panoramas including the courts.  They have fewer birds than Cosma Visions, but some very large and scary birds!  We’ll see how I handle them if they come up this week.

Enough from me.  On to the interview!

Most important characteristic:  Two of Swords

I’ll either love it or hate it.  Or I’ll have to choose either the color or monotone.  Interesting that the illustrations are not exactly the same.  Very, very much the same, but I can see minor differences when not that they’re side by side.

Strength:  Four of Swords

The decks are a refreshing (wintry!) break from very RWS and very individual interpretations. They’re both!

Weakness:  Two of Chalices

Same as the Two of Swords, you can’t like both?  Or it’s not good for relationship readings?

What I can learn from decks:  Ten of Chalices

This is a pair that the monochrome is easier to see, specifically the children in the tree and the glasses they hung up for wind chimes.

I can learn that readings about relationships are about more than romantic relationships.  Emotion and creativity and companionship all work together.

How can I learn it?  Ten of Pentacles

In the context of family.  And abundance.  Money can’t buy love or happiness but it can make them easier to fine.

Outcome of our work together:  Six of Swords

A bridge of swords.  The decks will lead me to cross over to new ideas and concepts.

Well, I struggled with this reading.  Hopefully, I’ll do better this week.

Observations:

Swords have butterflies on them.

The seasons work for me; it looks like they’re fixed signs:  spring for pentacles (Taurus), summer for wands (Leo). autumn for cups (Scorpio), winter for swords (Aquarius).  (I get so indignant when there’s a confused mix of seasons for suits, like many witchy decks.)

See you tomorrow!

See you tomorrow!

Rachelcat, I am utterly disappointed in myself that I have never in my years put these seasonal correspondences together 🙈 Oh my gosh. Maybe because so many decks just ignore distinctive four seasons altogether?

Thank you very much for this!! I also have never had the inkling to get the Light Visions or Prisma Visions for myself but SO LOVE seeing them in use. This will be a treat of a week.

And thank you @fire cat pickles for the warm welcome once again, I am glad to be here 🙂

This week I'll be using the Prisma Visions Tarot, created and self-published by James R. Eads; the companion booklet was written by Katherine Tombs. The oracle I'll be using alongside it is the Secret Language of Color Cards, created by Inna Segal and published by Beyond Worlds. Today's draws are Justice and Auburn:

justice.jpg   auburn.jpg
As we move through this beautiful and troubled world, may we vow to be a beacon of peace, a fearless carrier of respect and lovingkindness for all life, a teller of truth , a voice for justice, a protector of those who are vulnerable or targeted. May the power of wisdom, integrity and compassion be our guide.
~Jack Kornfield

Katherine Tombs writes, "The sharper the bite, the sharper the sword." This card brings home to me what Thich Nhat Hanh emphasized over and over - peace and justice begin in my own heart and move outward. There is no way I can carry a boiling cauldron of hatred in my heart and make wise choices or choose skillful actions. If I attempt to, I'll only create a cycle of perpetual problems and destructive chaos. Auburn reminds me to place all my senses in the here and now; doing so allows me to be an objective observer of my body and mind. I can catch the tension in my body and those rage-filled thoughts before they goad me into action. Calmness can bring clarity, and clarity can produce choices that heal and help.

@Rachelcat that Prisma Visions complete view of the Sword is absolutely amazing. What a work of art.

Added to my wish list for my collection just to geek out and show people this.

OK, on to my comparisons of these two packs.   I did a reading today about my creative pursuits. I have a YouTube channel (non-tarot related) and occasionally read for cards for clients.

I asked for guidance as I am conflicted about where to put the most energy, or if to balance them at all. THere is a significant reading opportunity approaching, but I vowed at the beginning of the year to give the channel 12 months of focus.

results:  Queen of Cups ( Deck of the Bastard).                                                                                  Right Result: Four of Wands ( Darkness of Light Tarot)

Query: What should I know about my conflict, what is next step?                                                     Query: Should I read at the Festival / Fair

The cards are juxtaposed below for your viewing pleasure.  I've journaled the results. I still

have not determined my focus for these Deck of the Week threads. Do I want to highlight the cards, or use them to contemplate and share readigns.

Hard to do both with time often pressing.

I truly love the 4 of Wands in the Darkness of Light. Instead of a tent with the words, "Homecoming" like the DoB, it shows a beautiful home. Still working on what to make of that.

The excellent Tarot App Galaxy Tarot suggests of the Queen of Cups: "She is an empathic, soothing and kind listener. She helps others to understand their emotions."

Sounds like a proper tarot reading, yes?

Images enclosed, I look forward to any feedback

What a beautiful, thoughtful reading. I love the Prisma Visions, and it goes so beautifully with the Secret Language of Colour - I look forward to seeing more of this deck.

(I'm otherwise lurking this week. *sigh*)

Definitely geek-worthy!  I don't know if it's helpful in readings, but it's a real contribution to tarot art!

Here's my catch-up for yesterday.

I'll be back with today's reading sometime!

I need time to think at work to tackle the tasks at hand, and the time is often not there. A gentle nudge this a.m.
