fire cat pickles Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 (edited) A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us! Please post with your chosen deck for the week. Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you. Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here. Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form. Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in. Rachelcat Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Hi, everyone! Ooo, Tao Oracle and the Brownies! Can't wait to see those in action! Something different for me this week. We were trading decks around at a tarot society meeting, and I ended up with John Holland’s Psychic Tarot for the Heart Oracle Deck (2014). I had his earlier Psychic Tarot Oracle Deck (2007) in the past, and I kept it for a while because I liked the art, but eventually passed it on. So I just got it again to compare the decks and the keywords. The formats of the decks are the same. Chunky, laminated Hay House decks. Contemporary style art. Keywords. No courts or 10s (for numerological reasons). Chakra cards are added. An emphasis on color. Suits are called Physical, Emotions, Mental, and Spirit. The keywords for the two decks are different, but I’m not really seeing that the first is more general and the second is for love or romance. They’re just different! We’ll see if that holds true as I work with them this week. Not sure how I’m going to compare the decks, maybe just draw the same cards in each and put them side by side! In the meantime, separate interviews. Psychic Tarot Oracle Deck Most important characteristic: 3 Spirit, Partnership & Alliances The deck works if you work with it. It will like being paired with its sibling! Strength: Base Chakra Obviously, I left the chakra cards in! Even though it seems to contrast with the other cards in this reading, the deck is basic in a good way: down to earth and practical. Also nourishing and good for beginners because of the keywords I guess. Weakness: 4 Spirit, Foundation & Achievements The illustration looks more like 10 Cups. Maybe that’s the meta weakness: The illustrations aren’t all that intuitive. The deck is a little distant from it’s base/foundation, the RWS. Not because of interpretive differences, but just to be different. What the deck can teach me: 6 Mental, Moving On Pair of 6s and the Sun, so looks all good! The deck can teach me that not all decks with keywords are to be avoided! I can let go and let the deck take me to a different place than I usually go with readings. How I can learn it: 6 Spirit, Victory & Success Assume success! Just because it looks easy doesn’t mean it’s easy, but easy or difficult, I can do it! This looks more like a Fool card, but hopefully he’s not marching off the cliff, he’s just standing on the heights (6) to signal victory with his horn. Outcome of our work together: 19. Light I really like this illustration. She’s reaching for the light but not desperately. It’s meeting her as she greets it. The deck will help me come to some understanding and will encourage me. We’ll definitely work well together! Psychic Tarot for the Heart Oracle Deck Most important characteristic: Sacral Chakra The deck is about pleasure and enjoyment. It will be fun to work with. Strength: 9 Spirit, Rest & Reconsider Instead of desperately trying to defend herself, she’s taking a break on her journey across the craggy mountain. The deck has a calming, more gentle demeanor. And the keywords seem to be more prescriptive, which I like. I like reading for advice more than prediction. Weakness: 21. Embrace Illustration seems to equate crown chakra and head and earth and heart. Maybe the weakness is too much symbolism? Yeah, the deck’s weakness is that it’s bitten off more than it can chew. What the deck can teach me: 2 Emotions, Coming Together Maybe the deck is about relationships after all! Two sides come together to make one heart. How I can learn it: Crown Chakra But I can only learn it when I’ve learned everything I need to know spiritually! Well, that might take a while! Outcome of our work together: 3. Nurture She’s grounded. Feminine with long hair and beauty. I don’t see any actual nurturing, bur I guess we can assume that? The deck will nurture my interest and readings. And again, as in the first card, the experience will be pleasurable and enjoyable (Venus!). It’s been a while since I’ve gotten such positive interview readings. Let’s see if they come true!
Mi-Shell Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Hi Folks! I should also use a Tarot of the Apocalypses, because of the weather we are having up here. We are all packed up for a 3 month trip to Texas and the news talks about snow, ice and freezing rain.... Since I do not own such a Tarot however, I will wrap my icy cold hands around my mini Greenwood Tarot and hope for a safe trip south. You all have a wonderful spring 🌻🌼🌷 and fun with decks and otherwise 💖 I will re-join the group in June! Take care!
Bodhiseed Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) This week the tarot I'll be using is the Ellis Deck, created and self-published by Taylor Ellis. Paired with it will be the Brownies Oracle, created and self-published by Doug Thornsjo. Today's draws are the Hermit and Burdens: To live is to be wounded – it is how we tend to the wounds we suffer and inflict that mark the quality of our journey. ―Ralph Benmergui Ellis suggests the Hermit is a study of the self, which would include all the ways we've been conditioned by our experiences and the patterns of behavior that have resulted. We look for what is hidden and shine a light on what is found. Such a contemplation and investigation will require some solitude, courage and patience (as indicated by the tortoise and snail). The Brownies are in a panic because the river is rising; they attempt to carry all they can to safety. Like them, we too carry burdens, yet much of this weight arises from the mind - our cherished opinions and conclusions. These in turn often trigger emotions like fear, sadness and resentment. Isn't it time to see them for what they are and lighten some of our load? Edited February 26, 2023 by Bodhiseed
Bodhiseed Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 @Mi-Shell, wishing you and anyone else impacted by the icy, wintry weather days that are sunnier and warmer!

Wyrdkiss Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Greetings all, I'm in with the Tarot of Dragons.
Rachelcat Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Good morning all! Here are my Sunday and Monday readings. As I said there, it seems like the “Heart” deck isn't very heart or romance oriented. It’s more like a more RWS variation. We’ll see if that evaluation holds up the rest of the week. See you tomorrow!
Drake_Winterfell Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) I'm back with my Witchling Academy Tarot and I'm adding my my Mythic Cats Oracle this week. I really like the Mythic Cats Oracle. It's a really nice deck. 🙂 Edited February 27, 2023 by Drake_Winterfell
Drake_Winterfell Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 I hope you have a safe trip and the weather isn't too bad for you. @Mi-Shell
Guest Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Thanks @fire cat pickles! I started using the Tao Oracle for my draws for this week here:
fire cat pickles Posted February 28, 2023 Author Posted February 28, 2023 My reading for today. Input welcome!
Wyrdkiss Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Thank you @fire cat pickles. Enclosed are a few cards from my tarot of Dragons. My thoughts will follow later.
Drake_Winterfell Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 This months writing prompt. The World - Perfection. I get the irony that I'm posting it on the second of March. 🤣
fire cat pickles Posted March 2, 2023 Author Posted March 2, 2023 Hi @Drake_Winterfell, that is coincidental and ironic. I added you to the list. I must have missed your posts earlier--my apologies! Welcome back! 🙂
Rachelcat Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 @Wyrdkiss, thank you for the closeups of the dragons. I'm not a huge dragon fan, but I'm looking for something similar to the elemental dragons in the Druid Animal Oracle. It's just so obvious that they're Nessie and Smaug! (Not sure about the air and fire ones.) In the meantime, here are my yesterday and today.
Wyrdkiss Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 My pleasure @Rachelcat. I pulled a few more. As you can see, certain ones, such as the sword card below, indicate travel either literally or figurative pretty well and true to the rws. And it's pretty. Some cards, however, are weakly done to me. For example, the empress seems to just be a dragon thrown In to nature, and the sword card below with the baby covering its eyes is just too cartoonish. In short, I am selling this deck on Facebook. It's not bad, but I have a lot of realty exceptional packs to work with.
