Bodhiseed Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 This week I'll be using the Hoi Polloi Tarot published by Hoi Polloi Inc. The oracle I'll also use is the I Ching Pack created by Richard Gill and Anthony Clark, and published by Thorsons. Today's cards are the Hermit and Mountain Over Wind (hexagram 18): It's not a person's mistakes which define them - it's the way they make amends. ― Freya North Standing atop a cliff with a lantern in his hand, the Hermit reminds me of a lighthouse. The NOAA states that the purposes of these towers are "to warn mariners of dangerous shallows and perilous rocky coasts and help guide vessels safely into and out of harbors." The Hermit's years of spiritual self-reflection can allow him to do the same. Yet it's not that he's lived a near-perfect life. As the Titanic 'de-motivational poster' advises with its tongue-in-cheek phrase: "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others." However Hexagram 18 suggests that we can repair the damage our actions caused and resolve not to make the same choices as before. Then we could not only warn others away from such paths, but we could also teach them how to sail a different route.
Mi-Shell Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 (edited) This week for dear life, I am holding on to my Archeon Tarot. I have to get through a tunnel of sad proceedings and hope, the somewhat cryptic quotes in the LWB will help me deal with it all. Today's reading reflects exactly, how I feel: 5 of Cups - quote: The cup of sorrow spills its tears upon the ground 10 of Swords- quote: In the shadow of the Moon, tragedy befalls 8 of Swords- quote: Bound to the past by ropes of memory..... What is happening? Spoiler Rocky, beloved pooch of my adopted daughter is at the end of his life and the vet will come on Saturday to send him to the Ancestors..... 😢 A good friend of mine informed me, that her cancer is terminal. I am shocked about that, I had no idea, she never said anything. Now, this Friday she will receive MAID. Edited June 12, 2023 by Mi-Shell
Rachelcat Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Hi, all! I'm loving all the deck choices so far! (I might have owned a few of them in the past . . .!) I'm continuing in (roughly) the order they were acquired. I just got an email that my preordered Llewellyn Tarot of the Vampires is making its way to me. So I better hurry up and use all the decks I have in hand! This week for me will be Tarocchi Piacentini, Piacenza 1875, another Lo Scarabeo Anima Antiqua deck. It looks like a rough copy or similar deck to the Soprafino, complete with a cooked lobster on a platter in the Moon. The title for the death card is UGUAGLIANZA, equality. Interesting! This one has the wrap-around edges like the Minchiate al Cigno. It has regular Marseille-style curved, two-ended swords, not my favorite, but I’ll deal. On to the interview! What is your most important characteristic? VIII Danari It’s a work of art. It’s both a physical artifact (coins) and a system (8=Mercury). What is your strength? Regina di Spade It’s good for someone who loves to learn. It’s a teacher! What is your weakness? L’Appezo But it doesn’t always give straight answers. It takes time to get it. What can I learn from you? Il Matto Anything and everything! How to just let go and read. How can I learn it? Fante di Spade Paradoxically, by studying! Not paradoxically, by having beginners mind. Be willing to study with an open, fresh mind. What will be the outcome of our work together? Regina di Coppe I will be able to work with the deck as an introspective tool. I’ll learn from it but also get some intuitive hits with it. We'll see about that!
Guest Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 I will be working with the Santa Muerte Tarot this week.
Bodhiseed Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 @Mi-Shell, sending a gentle hug for your heavy heart. May both transformations be peaceful. ❤️
fire cat pickles Posted June 12, 2023 Author Posted June 12, 2023 Welcome back @Mi-Shell, @Rachelcat, and @Akhilleus! Yes, a great selection of decks this week 🙂 Mi-Shell I hope you week turns out alright. Those cards seem quite foreboding....
Madame Squee Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Thank you for the thread @fire cat pickles ☔🦆 I'm in with the Mountain Dream Tarot this week.
Mi-Shell Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Thank you all! ♥ here one of my cards for today: The Quote is: And at the edge of space and time - she waits... I feel like waiting - for a ton of bricks to fall on my head...... :(
Madame Squee Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) Mountain Dream Tarot by Bea Nettles (3rd Edition). This is one of those decks that always makes me wonder why I don't use it exclusively. If I'm able to read intuitively at all, these are the cards for it. This spread is based on the 5-card Magic Star Spread (published in Power Tarot by Trish MacGregor & Phyllis Vega). I've modified it to include a second card in each position. I start by laying out the five cards 1-2-3-4-5 and then I pair them with 5 more in reverse order. This is a reading for myself. It revolves around an issue involving property and money. I noticed there are a lot of pentacles and swords in this layout. Money and difficulties. 1. & 10. The nature of the problem, situation or question. Emperor & 5 of Pentacles. Someone has offered something to me that I would really like to have. However, they have the power to make it entirely too expensive. 2. & 9. The cause of the problem, reasons for asking, or point of interest. Queen of Pentacles & Queen of Swords. I don't see our minds meeting. 3. & 8. Factors to be considered. Knight of Swords & 10 of Swords. Although I think my position is fair and just, it might be dead on arrival. Maybe I was too quick to respond. 4. & 7. The solution, advice or comment given. Knight of Pentacles & 7 of Swords. This looks like the person I'm dealing with has an agenda outside of the business at hand. 5. & 6. End result or outcome. Hermit & 5 of Cups. The Hermit's lamp illuminates the 10 of Swords. Even though I'm going to feel sad and disappointed for a time, the worst heartbreak is over. Bottom card summary: 6 of Swords. Sail away to new shores, leave trouble behind. Okay. Edited June 18, 2023 by Madame Squee To clarify.
Guest Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Was only able to post my Sunday draw. I'll complete entire weeks again next time.
