A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in

This week I'll be using the RainShadow Tarot, created and self-published by Claire Mack. I'll also be using the Liminal Spirits Oracle, created by Laura Tempest Zakroff and published by Llewellyn. Today's draws are Justice and Walnut:

justice.jpg  walnut.jpg
I don’t believe you can stand for freedom for one group of people and deny it to others.
―Coretta Scott King

Anthropologist Ruth Benedict wrote that the purpose of her field was "to make the world safe for human differences." Benedict challenged exceptionalism, the view that a certain group was superior to another. She also promoted cultural relativism, the belief that one culture should not be evaluated using the norms and values of another. Justice involves restoring balance and fairness; rather than punishing differences, we can celebrate them. Walnut is a symbol of discernment as well as protection. It's leaves and hulls contain juglone, which is a natural herbicide that prevents the competition of other trees rooting beneath it. Walnut's message is to see beyond our bias, which shrinks our world rather than protects us. Then perhaps we can embrace the vision of Michelle Obama: "Let's invite one another in. Maybe then we can begin to fear less, to make fewer wrong assumptions, to let go of the biases and stereotypes that unnecessarily divide us. Maybe we can better embrace the ways we are the same."

This is all beautiful, the cards and your interpretation!  You're inspiring me today!

Continuing with my decks of the day, Today is the Tao Oracle.  Tuesday and Wednesday are gods and goddesses:  Sol Invictus Tarot + Dark Goddess Tarot and Gods and Titans Oracle + Goddess Oracle.

Monday

Tao Oracle, first and last cards/hexagrams with transitional hexagrams and changing lines in between.  For text, I’ll be using The Complete I Ching by Alfred Huang.

Monday1.thumb.jpg.cc38aca250a4c3ea06f4c4aee96b09de.jpg

18. Work on What Has Been Spoiled

I’ve let a lot of things get out of hand.  Time to make up for that.  Book:  The name can mean “decay” or “corruption,” yet the divination for the hexagram is “prosperous and smooth; favorable,” thus the more accurate title of remedying things that are beginning to decay before they get out of hand.

Line 3

“Remedy for the father; no great regret.”  Remedying needs to be done with authority.  Which will be fine in the end.  Leads to:

4. Youthful Folly

This is the famous quote about “I don’t seek the ignorant; the ignorant seeks me.”  So I should get some advice on how to remedy my situation, but I need to take the advice!

Line 5

“The ignorant is being enlightened; good fortune.”  Same as the hex:  if I listen to the advice I’ll be in good shape.  Leads to:

59. Dispersion

“Prosperous and smooth and favorable” again.  I think this is letting go.  Once the issues are dealt with, I can let go of worry about them.  Also “the king arrives at the temple”:  I can be in charge of my own life again.

Line 6

And this line is literally “Dispersing one’s worry”!  And stay away from calamity.  I hope I can do that!  Leads to:

29 The Abysmal

Uh oh!  The calamity!  But the text says if I am “sincere and truthful” and “rely on my heart and mind,” it will be “prosperous and smooth.”  So the outcome is all will be well (especially considering all of the above) if I put in the work, mental and emotional work that is.

Well, all this is very encouraging.  I know that most I Ching fortunes are favorable, but there are definitely some that are “danger Will Robinson!”  Glad I got the fortunate ones!

Tarot Egyptiens this week and a quick reading this morning -- how will my day go?

La Force ~ Les quatre deniers ~ La Justice ~ and La denier de la Fortune.

Perfect! My big dog has a well-dog checkup this morning. Love that lion's face -- disgruntled acceptance. That must mean Elora's going to be a good girl!

I'm hoping the 4 Coins, backed up by La Justice refers to her continued good health.

I pulled a clarifying card, and it bolsters my hopefulness! Bonheur parfait -- perfect happiness!

ETA: We're back. Her health is perfect! And she's a good girl but very shy. The vet sat on the floor for the exam and offered treats, which she refused at first. In the end, she couldn't stop herself from giving him a high-five.

Egyptiens Tarots is the only one I have. There's an unusual warning at the bottom of the title card -- at least I'd never seen anything like it before. The card stock is thin, smooth and not matte, perhaps satin finish. The surface of it feels like a lot of other modern cards. So, I'm not sure what they're talking about. It shuffles fine. I'm supposing the image could wear off in time?

I love, love the faces and pink dresses!!!

The Jeu de la Princesse is such a beaut.

More pink dresses and lovely faces. The circle surrounding "La femme qui consulte" fascinates me. I'm pretty sure that's a hop toad in the lower left corner. I hope he's hopping away from that serpent in the center.
