A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Hey, @fire cat pickles!  And crew!  Another The Game Crafter deck for me this week:  The Art Deco Tarot by Del Blackwater.  The booklet focuses on the artists whose works are sampled, including a list of sources for each card, which is nice.  Most prevalent artists are Erte and Georges Barbier, but also includes other named artists and anonymous creators of advertisements and posters.

The minors including courts have keywords, which might be a challenge for me, but we’ll see.  Courts are lady, gentleman, queen, king.

I have a similar deck, The Cult of Weimar Tarot, but that one is based on a bit later (interwar) era and limited to Germany.  It also delves deeper into the cultural history of its time period, while this is focused on the art itself.

I think that’s all I’ve got to say!  It’s a tarot!  On to the interview!

Ok, no majors.

What is your most important characteristic?  Five of Cups, Sadness

The deck is best when it shows understandable scenes.

What is your strength?  Six of Cups, The Past

Same.  Its nostalgia is it’s strength.  That’s why we like it!

Your weakness?  Seven of Wands, Rivalry

The deck enjoys the negative aspects of women’s relationships a bit too much!

What can you teach me?  Seven of Swords, Betrayal

Case in above point!  Another seven about enjoyment.  It can teach me to enjoy the images without caring so much about serious issues.

How can I learn it?  Two of Wands, Ambition

I like this keyword especially for some reason.  I can learn to enjoy the art by doing a little research?  Acting on my interest?

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Gentleman of Cups, Romantic

I will fall in love with the nostalgia.

Sounds good!  We’ll see!

This week I'll be using the Rohrig Tarot, created by Carl W. Rohrig and published by Sirio. I also have a companion book written by the artist and Francesca Marzano-Fritz and published by Bluestar Communications. The other deck I'll be drawing from is called a tarot, but I'll be using it as an oracle: the Master Tarot. It was created by Amerigo Folchi and Mario Montano and published by AG Muller. Today's cards are the Prince of Disks and Twice Born:

Competent and steadfast, the Prince of Disks is described by Crowley as "great energy brought to bear upon the most solid of practical matters." Yet the Rohrig companion book offers a caution about this Prince's drive: he must consider "construction and its consequences." My eye is drawn to the measuring stick at the left of the card. In our eagerness to build, we may become caught up in outdoing and outpacing others instead of focusing on important details of the project itself. The Titanic, the largest liner of her time and built for luxury and comfort, carried 2224 passengers on its maiden voyage. Though it had the capacity for 48 lifeboats, it was only outfitted with 20 (and only 14 of those were regular lifeboats). A lack of mindfulness in its construction had serious consequences. Twice Born refers to Lazarus, who was brought back to life by Jesus. The lesson of this card is of entering a place of dark hopelessness and being willing to let someone help us back out. Skill and knowledge are wonderful talents, but we would do well to have open minds and ears when others offer us sincere suggestions.

Thank you for the thread FCP ☃️☃️☃️

Please sign me up with Tarot de Jacques Vieville (Artisan Tarot).

It arrived on Saturday. I had no idea how much I needed this Vieville until I had it in front of me.

@Madame Squee, you are a really bad influence (or maybe a good one). 😂 I ordered the Artisian deck and I'm trying not to look too closely at the one you have this week.
