A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Good morning, good morning!  Happy snow day to those who participate! 😸 This week for me will be Soul Creatures Tarot by Nawan Junhasiri, from Tevada.  I also got the Soul Creatures Oracle & Affirmation Deck by the same author at the same time, but I’m going to use them separately because they have a lot of the same creatures, but by different artists.  So I continue my interest in mythical animals and creatures.  These decks actually include a good number of yokai along with creatures from European myths.  The extra card is tsuchinoko, a yokai chubby snake that can jump, and can speak Japanese and likes to lie to people.

Let’s shuffle and interview!

Monday.thumb.jpg.b998b60ca36dd7a9c612e05b284104f9.jpg

What is your most important characteristic?  Ten of Swords, Cockatrice

The deck can be a bit overwhelming, depending on how many creatures I know and how many I have to learn.  Many of the creatures are combinations.  This one is really off-putting because a rooster with regular chicken wings has added dragon/reptile wings.

What is your strength?  Ace of Wands, Salamander

The deck is mindful of and tries to keep with traditional tarot symbolism, while putting energy into its own attributions also.

Your weakness?  Five of Cups, Banshee

It is not good dealing with negative emotions.  It’s too dramatic.

What can you teach me?  Six of Wands, Gryphon

Another combination creature, of an eagle and a lion, two animals that often symbolize strength and victory.  The deck can teach me how to go from strength to strength.  Assume success.

How can I learn it?  The World, Ouroboros

By applying that concept to everything in my life, the good and bad, the known and unknown (sun and moon).  And then do it all over again (biting tail).

What will be the outcome of our work together?  The Hermit, Yeti

Nobody else will care much about the deck, but I’ll like it and continue to use it in my solitude.

We'll see!

We must reinvent a future free of blinders so that we can choose from real options.
~David Suzuki

This kitty would love to get out and try to catch a bird, but the window is firmly closed. Is there no other way outside, such as people coming and going out the doors? He's like most of us; we see an option or a solution but believe it is the only one worth pursuing. When we find that those closed, we don't bother to consider other doors that might offer us an attainable opportunity. Instead, we fruitlessly stay focused on what is out of reach. Teddy Bear represents comfort and reassurance. Whether it's a walk outside, a chat with a friend or time with a pet, we all have ways we can calm and clear our mind. And once our mind is open, we may see our options are too.

Welcome back @Madame Squee! I'm pretty sure you've joined us before though it's been a while...

In case you haven't, the DoW Group is a fun and enlightening way to share how your decks can work for others, to highlight new or unique reading techniques and spreads, and perhaps to introduce new decks for other members.

I'm going to post in the Card-a-Day a spread that I made up based on 7 Rules of Life I found on FB. It's in the a form of a 10-card CC:

I'll link the spread once it's done, maybe not today:

My husband and I are avid competitive mahjong players.  On February 14 we leave for Singapore for an intense mahjong 'vacation' that includes an international tournament on a cruise ship.

I've been aware of the Fortune Teller's MahJongg deck by Derek Walters for many years.  Long out of print.  I had a PDF with the card meanings.  About 6 months ago a Mahjong deck came out on Kickstarter.  I backed it and then changed my mind.  It didn't have illustrated 'pips'.  I really wanted this deck.  So I began my search and paid a fair amount for this.  Plus it had to come from England.

So I don't expect to master this new divination system -- which can be used with the tiles as well as with the cards.  At least I may be able to have some fun with new friends on the cruise.IMG_3343.thumb.png.291c1a334ab40f81092f07110cd96f2a.pngth.jpg.d4a0bd3b1c9b1cde4bcd62644aa9f4ea.jpg

@Natural Mystic Guide Happy Valentine's Day  Singapore and mahjong!!!

I'm so excited and happy for you!!! :dancing-cat:

As it happens, the Fortune Teller's Mah Jongg has been resting on my book shelf for several years. I cannot recall exactly when and where I found it, but I haven't delved into it yet. So, I'll be very interested in your next intensive study with it!

Good luck and bon voyage🛳️💐

For a bit of fun, I painted (watercolor) six symbols that represent the six major arcana cards I drew the most in 2024. Can you guess what they are? 😁WCsketch2024MAcards.thumb.jpg.eadb3d2646c3891eab2e1360f0be484c.jpg

What a lovely idea to create a 'group picture' of your top six draws!

I see Temperance, Devil, Hermit, Death (the skeleton hand is holding (?) the sixth symbol I can’t identify), and the Sun.

That thingy looks like a seashell to me. Or a cocoon.

It's a monarch chrysalis 'hanging' 😉 from the skeleton's hand. You got all the others right, @Ferrea! 🌟

I looked up pictures—it's beautiful. Which trump do you associate it with?

Ah, that's interesting! Where did you get the inspiration for that from? I mean, using a chrysalis as a symbol for the hanged man. I haven't seen that before.

For me, the Hanged Man is a situation in which we have no control or influence over a situation, no matter how much we struggle. But at some point, there can be an inner transformation (as what happens in a chrysalis) when we begin to see things from a different and wider perspective.
