Bodhiseed Posted December 8 Posted December 8 Tarot of the Secret Forest paired with the Faeries' Oracle for me! Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together. –James C. Penney Finally, after all the headbutting of the Five of Wands, folks are on the same page. How things will proceed and in what order has been decided; alignment has created a road to victory. Luathas the Wild brings an exciting, creative energy to the process. Yet no matter how eager we are to get to the end of this road, this route has not been traveled before. Prudence warns us to tamp down that impatience and move at the speed of mindfulness so that any twists or turns don't catch us by surprise. Whatever Festival of Light you celebrate - Bodhi Day/Rohatsu, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Yule, or simply being alive - may you and yours be blessed with peace, joy and good health.
Mi-Shell Posted December 8 Posted December 8 Thank you, @fire cat picklesfor the new thread and @Bodhiseedfor the wonderful wishes.♥ My Deck this week is the Animal Elders Oracle by Asha Frost.
Rachelcat Posted December 8 Posted December 8 Here I am! This week will be The Mayan Oracle: A Galactic Language of Light. I realized I have two Chinese calendar oracles, so I “needed” to revisit the Maya calendar. I had two Maya decks back in the day (2012 of course!), but I think this is the better one. We’ll see. The deck consists of 13 number cards with keywords and 20 “star-glyphs,” both sets based on Maya calendar symbols. The day names of the Maya calendar are combinations of the 13 numbers and 20 glyphs, and they repeat every 260 days, called a tzolkin. There is another set of 11 cards that look like they’re also based on numbers, called “lenses,” which don’t seem to have a Maya background as far as I can tell. I might put those aside, at least at first. The book has lots of interpretations for each card, but also has a handy “Oracle at a Glance” section for quick lookups. I’m obviously going to lean heavily on the book for all of this, so let’s start with the interview! What is your most important characteristic? Caban, Earth The deck is connected to an aspect of reality: number symbolism and a calendar actually in use. What is your strength? 2, Polarity It combines the numbers and the glyphs. Your weakness? 1, Unity It adds the lenses, so it really doesn’t hang together as a deck. What can you teach me? 8, Harmonic Resonance It can teach me how small things are linked to big things. How can I learn it? Oc, Dog By sticking with it faithfully, like a dog with a bone. What will be the outcome of our work together? Chicchan, Snake We’ll twist here and there and come out where? We’ll see!
Bodhiseed Posted December 9 Posted December 9 @fire cat pickles the Hadar is one of my favorite TdMs. Nothing to do with following tradition, but more with the colors used, I think. @Mi-Shell, the is a lovely deck; I'll be curious to see how well the key phrases fit with the animals. @Rachelcat, you amaze me with some of the hard decks you're willing to work with - hope this one is a winner!

Well, @BodhiseedSome phrases are VERY close to the traditional Shamanic/ Medicine meanings/ Powers ascribed to the Animals. Others not so much, probably so as not inadvertantly giving away Sacred tribal and Clan teachings. many of these meanings are very closely matched from tribe to tribe, not only over here in NA but also they do jive with the meanings held in Siberia. That is, because they are VERY OLD - and came with the First People. They are derived by observing the wild Animals closely over millenia. A good example for this is my card of the day for today: Elder Lynx "Seek the unknown" Lynx stands for SECRETS! The stuff only few people know and nobody talks about. Here at home. with the Anishinaabe People Pizhu the Lynx - also spelled Bizhiw or Biizhu stands for Secrets, especially those of shamanic nature and the Medicine Powers a Medicine person has. - psychic and clarivoiant and powers like this. In the Mide ways Biizhu stands as the Gate Keeper of the 4th - or dangerous level of knowledge -about healing and also killing, poisons and dark powers. In Siberia this is identical - at least among my dad's people and the Yakut and other northern tribes. My dad's Medicine Animal was/ is the Lynx - and it served him well in his work as a spy FOR the Allies in WWII. In his honour I have a Lynx paw given to me by another shaman hanging on our family Altar.....
Mi-Shell Posted December 10 Posted December 10 For me today the Lynx is a good card. The snowy landscape in the image reflects, what it looks like outside. we have 2 feet of fresh snoe and more is coming down. Lynx reminds me of my family ties and also, that I have to face all the multiple secrets, that come with it. Then there are all the secrets I have to "seek the unknown" that I have to find in order to help my clients. Secrets that I then have to keep for them. Secrets that I have to persuade them to devulge or let go of, in order to heal and get better. Secrets about who in their family knows how much of what -- - that can quickly get comfusing..... Tooooooo many secrets...... In the end, when the burden gets too heavy I give them all to the Lynx of the Ancestors -which I can reach through the Lynx paw on the Altar..... Do I have secrets myself? Yes, a few. And then just think about all the "secrets" we keep around the holyday season ....... 39 parcels of them packed and ready for friends and family on Solstice Night. Those are Good Secrets to have right now. Dear Lynx, help me not to mix them all up!
Bodhiseed Posted December 11 Posted December 11 @Mi-Shell, that history and knowledge was interesting and enlightening! Thank you for sharing it.💓

Mi-Shell Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Thank you guys for your kind words!♥ @Bodhiseed refering to your remarkand question: My card of today is a bit of the oposite to the afore mentioned example: Elder Starfish: retrieve your destiny Asha Frost says she is Chippewa and to them starfish was largely unknown - until they were Aculturated in mainstream schools. So Starfish had no standing as an Elder/ teacher andhad no Medicine meaning at all. So in the interpretation to be read in the booklet it is all about Stars and celestial and whatever a New Age person would ascribe to a Star in the night sky. however, there is some Starfish myth to be found with the Westcoast tribes and there Starfish is known for regenerating his limbs afer injury. So regeneration and Healing are atributes, that were and still are held in respect. See this screenshot from the net:
Mi-Shell Posted December 12 Posted December 12 For me today Starfish reminds me - Of how many we always throw back into the water when we find them stranded on the beach - barely alive.... - due to the many arms, of how much I still have to do today - But most importantly of how VERY DIFFERENT from me a life form/ Being can be! In honor of this I have put a well preserved Starfish from our shell collection onto the Family Altar today. When Peter saw it he said:" Oh, From beautiful Sea Rim beach! What a memory of sand and sun, wind and waves!" Also: No 39! 9+3=12! 1+2=3 = beloved number of three give me a good memory!
Bodhiseed Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Thank you for sharing the Starfish card, @Mi-Shell. When I'm doing readings with animals or plants, I tend to seek out information about them rather than New Age type meanings. I don't mean that as a judgment - it just has more meaning for me that way.

Yes, I also do that! 🙂 It is however, that this deck is supposed to be with meanings derived from the Ojibway/ Algonquian tribes and is meant for their young people - so to keep connections to their culture. Asha has created another one with the same purpose. They both are VERY popular up here and are flying of the shelves everywhere. I find that very interesting.
Mi-Shell Posted December 13 Posted December 13 My card today is Here is the write-up, which I find very beautiful and appropriate for this important Clan Guardian: For me today: Seeing the image reminds me of early spring, when the Cranes return and all of a sudden I can hear their loud call high above the house, Then they come down to the still partly frozen marsh and we rush onto the deck to take pictures and count how many there are in that flock. They stay for a while and then fly on north. Just 2 pairs come about late April to nest outside our windows and raise their young. Todayit is snowing sooo hard that our huge south facing windows are shut, the snow and ice sticking to them like glue. Dreams of spring and rebirth! Also memories of seeing thousands of Sandhill Cranes in late November down south in Bosque del Apache. There are not too many goals, that we have not reached, That is a good thing to say a few days before my 70tieth birthday. But it is also a reminder of leaving behind ones, that are un-reachable - and make new ones! I will go out and scrape a hole through the ice on one of the windows, So we can see out - into the land, into the future and into mystery....
