Rachelcat Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Hi all! This week will be The Tarot of Physics by Dan Horn and Corrine Kenner. This is the last of my “Science Club” deck subcollection as a deck of the week. I’ve been holding off because I know nothing about physics, and there’s no booklet. Maybe the text on the cards will be enough, or there’s always google! Suits are Energy (Wands), Space (Cups), Time (Swords), and Matter (Pentacles). (I had independently come up with energy (wands), time (cups), space (swords), matter (coins). Now I can see both as making sense. We’ll see if I change my mind after this week. Might as well get started with an interview! What is your most important characteristic? 16. The Tower, Nuclear Reaction The deck’s theme is actually pretty obvious. And it doesn’t shy away from explosive things. What is your strength? 5. The Hierophant, Electrical Conductor It holds closely to the physics and the tarot, passing the energy through physics to tarot. Your weakness? Ten of Matter, Galaxy That’s a lot of matter! There’s so much to address about physics and tarot, the deck can’t cover it all. What can you teach me? Two of Matter, Molecule It can teach me about joining and sharing. Chemical joining creates a whole different substance. How do I learn it? Nine of Space (cups), Sonoluminescence “Sound can generate light in a spherical beaker of fluid.” I had no idea. Is it a certain fluid? Or any fluid? I might have to google after all. I can learn about joining and sharing by being open to accepting unobvious truths. What will be the outcome of our work together? 18. The Moon, Magnetism Cool. What’s on the inside affects the energy of the outside. I will be drawn to the deck, and maybe to physics, even though I don’t completely understand it. Three of six cards are majors. No courts. Well, this looks fun! The interps on the cards are great! I don’t think I’ll need to google. Except for sonoluminescence, that is.
Mi-Shell Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) Week 2 with the "tarot" of the Orishas Well, this is not what I - and many others would call a Tarot deck. It is more of a pictural working tool for practitioners / followers of the Orishas. There are 13 Orishas/ sacred eternal Beings, 12 what I would call universal Energies (like Earth, Karma, Dwarfs and Knomes as messenger of the Earth element) and also what i would describe as 10 minor arkana cards for each element. The later ones anyone here would readily understand and be able to read with, while the Orisha cards are not comparable to any mayors. I find it very interesting to just read and learn a bit about what Orishas are- not so much from the detailed book, that comes with the deck but also from other sources. Many Orisha archetypes are familliar to me from Haitian Vodou, whith which I am quite familliar. Then there are all the christian saints they are syncretizised with. What I find confusing about the deck is, that many of the book chapters about each Orisha do have different names than the names on the cards. Here however is recognition of their Vodun counterparts helpful to me. For example the Loa Edzuli Freda here is called Bomba Gira in the book but on the card is "female Eshu" Edited February 16 by Mi-Shell
Bodhiseed Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) I am really late to the party! I'm using the Cosmic Tarot paired with the L'Oeil de Lotus this week. Posted 23 hours ago Cosmic Tarot, Ten of Swords; L'Oeil de Lotus, Moon Judging mind is a very strong addiction, and you don’t step out so easily when you have a powerful addiction. —Corrado Pensa One of the most valuable assets we can own is a stable and discerning mind. This kind of mind is inclusive of all the information available and does not act or make choices without calming the emotions first. The judging mind is based solely on what it hates or wants to avoid, what it craves or doesn't want to lose, and ignores information that doesn't affect it directly. Problems arise when the winds of reality begin bending our ideas; rigidity is a danger, and can send us to a dark, frightening place. The Moon shows its phases and emphasizes that our mind needs to be able to change its views too. An open mind, calm reflection, and a willingness to shift our perceptions so they align with the facts can help us stay out of those deep holes. Edited February 21 by Bodhiseed

Mi-Shell Posted February 21 Posted February 21 So this week I did my daily 3 card reading = today - chalenges - outcome/ teachings with this deck. Taking into considderation, that my knowledge of candomble is quite limmited, I mainly concentrated on the images. and not so much on the religious context. The messages received were from "spot on" to a bit "rickety" I had expected noting other. The "Tarot" of the Orishas was created in 1993 and printed in 1994. A time, when many "culturaly speciffic" decks came out. All very optimistic and full of hope for the future, when crosscultural acceptance tolerance and "coming together" was anticipated and celebrated. The warning about cultural misappropriation had not yet entered the collective consciousness. Humans will continue to evolve and love and respect each other and all the multitudes of differences, love and peace will reign..... Now, 32 years later most of us realize, that that was a failed dream. Reading the optimistic end notes of the book that goes with this deck, I feel nostalgic.....
