fire cat pickles Posted March 16 Posted March 16 (edited) A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us! Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at any time—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in! Tanga Posted March 16 Posted March 16 "Attention has the power to clarify or destroy"... Indeed. All kinds of attention - such as listening to someone through your own filters, reading & understanding posts through your own filters etc. Great examples of this recently on a couple of WhatsApp groups I'm a member of, where individuals haver read and assumed a), when it is actually c) - and opened their mouths in anger causing a huge drama with irreparable damaging words said. Worlds Within Worlds Tarot (by Knapp & Knapp - it is OOP) & The Craft Felt Tarot this week.
Rachelcat Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Today marks the sixth anniversary of my doing decks of the week. I started the first day of covid lockdown, March 16, 2020. And I’m still going strong, thanks to this great forum, you my fellow deck-of-the-weekers, and especially @fire cat pickles! This week will be Inspirational Wicca Oracle Cards, another goodie I snagged from the Llewellyn tarot sale. Not sure what to make of this deck. The booklet describes sections of meanings, but I really can’t make heads nor tails from that. I just like the quirky flat art. 36 cards. This week will be a true tryout for it. If I continue to be confused, it goes in the giveaway pile! Let’s start with the interview! What is your most important characteristic? The Dancing Star Definitely one of the quirkier cards! Odd satyrs celebrate the personified star above them. The deck is quirky and appealing to me. What is your strength? The Eternal Arcane A naked man performs a rite with the help of a clothed person. The moon with hands looks on. The deck alludes to esoteric ideas and stories without committing to one. Your weakness? The Ecstasy of Infinity A woman dances with a lemniscate snake on a lotus under the waxing moon. Is infinity really ecstasy? Personal infinity sounds terrible to me. And maybe planetary too. But this looks like an unexplained creation myth. What can you teach me? Pleasure as Eternity Baphomet with feathery wings sits on the earth. Eternity again. I don’t see how pleasure is eternity or that Baphomet has much to do with pleasure, unless the focus is pleasure is one of the things we can do for ourselves and not sacrifice to authority. How can I learn it? Grow by Comparison A woman in a wolf skin sees her reflection in a pond. Interesting. Maybe in this position, I can learn more about comparative mythology, even the wild and strange ones. But in general, I can progress in knowledge through competition. What will be the outcome of our work together? Sapere Aude! Dare to know. A naked man with a spear attempts to answers the riddle of the sphinx amid the bones of those who failed. I will dare learn more about outré myths and religions and enjoy doing it! Cool! We’ll see!

Bodhiseed Posted March 17 Posted March 17 (edited) I'm in this week with the Victorian Romantic Tarot, paired with the Dreaming in Color Deck - Thank you Fire cat! Victorian Romantic Tarot, Ten of Swords; Dreaming in Color, Manipulation Beached under the spumy blooms, we lie sea-sick and fever-dry. ―Sylvia Plath It's not just our own rigid beliefs that can beach us; being manipulated by the lies or half-truths of another can do the same. Why do we believe what is false? Prefactuals - information we hear before facts are known is a key. Our expectations can override the evidence we are presented with later (climate change is a hoax, for example). Researchers have also found that misinformation is likely to stick when it conforms to our pre-existing political, religious, or social point of view. In other words, we prefer the bonds of our tribe to the truth. But wouldn't it be better to row alone, away from a sinking ship? Edited March 17 by Bodhiseed

I was just reading on a witchcraft forum today "help - I need to find out what type of witch I am" - and I'm thinking... WHAT? Sounds like things are getting too complicated to me...
