Guest Night Shade Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I see KaiNO[/member] has been busy and has got all the tunes before this on the website already . Mhm, he is fast and effective! ;D Judgement reversed: Justice reversed: Here's another one from Dark Tranquility: The Magician - The Science of Noise
2dogs Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Here's another one from Dark Tranquility: The Magician - The Science of Noise Groovy - but don't encourage me to look for noise .
Guest Night Shade Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I see KaiNO[/member] has been busy and has got all the tunes before this on the website already . Mhm, he is fast and effective! ;D You guys and Night Shade[/member] sure have been productive these last couple of days :)) Like 2dogs[/member] said, it's an interesting challenge. Some of these cards are really hard though! 3 of Wands: What You Waiting For - Gwen Stefani 5 of Swords reversed: Pumped up Kicks - Foster the People 8 of Cups reversed: Grip - Seeb and Bastille
2dogs Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 That's the one I was looking for - 10 of Pentacles - In My Family by Sparks.
Arch Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 It's an interesting challenge. I'd love to get one of the tunes in my collection for each card then I could read Tarot stealthily by merely shaking my iPod Nano :shhh:. That is an interesting idea, to use the playlist random feature as a shuffle for cards. Here's another one from Dark Tranquility: The Magician - The Science of Noise Fits quite well! It is however quite a challenge to come up with songs for some of these, especially the reversed ones. But on the other hand it is quite alright to take this kind of tour down memory lane, and I can pick up lots of tips to potentially expand my playlist a bit. ;D Gonna keep taking shots at the reversed ones, even if they are more challenging. I find that there isn't much that separates a song that could be on the upright card vs the reversed one. It has to be the same theme tainted somehow, that is how I think about it. Eight of cups reversed: Temperance reversed: The Fool reversed: Went for Gaga Just Dance, but felt it wasn't "tainted" enough, so I switched to this >:D
Arch Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Finally cracked The Tower reversed! 8) This has exactly the twist it needs! And then I think at least the Major arcana has a song for the reversed ones.
Arch Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Knight of wands reversed: Five of wands reversed: Five of swords reversed: Seven of cups reversed: Seven of swords reversed: Four of cups reversed: Six of swords reversed: Eight of sword reversed: King of pentacles reversed: Ten of wands reversed: King of swords reversed: Kay bedtime!
KaiNO Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Judgement reversed: That one reminded me about: Mar De Grises - Starmaker ...goosebumps-great music! Perhaps this one could go as The Star reversed?
2dogs Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 That one reminded me about: Mar De Grises - Starmaker ...goosebumps-great music! Perhaps this one could go as The Star reversed? Nice tune but it's just as well the lyrics were listed on the page ;). It suggests to me something like a loss of faith but maybe some hope that belief might come back, or at least some non intellectual feeling, through embracing the undeniable reality of the earth and wind. I can't figure out exactly what it means :-\.
2dogs Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Just taking a break to add a nice easy favourite. The devil has all the best songs >:D. The Devil - Obscured by Terminal Cheesecake.

Agree with you, not at all easy to understand what they are really singing about :bhmm: And most songs are difficult to classify as a particular card, even if one wants to :blol:
Arch Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Thank God! ;) Yeah this is time-consuming ::) Perhaps this one could go as The Star reversed? I dunno, I get more a feel for the Page of swords reversed. But such things are more down to subjective interpretation, as a song could conceivably back up several cards. Also for me, when I have no emotional connection to the song, then it is hard for me to point in any direction. I end up purely analyzing the lyrics, with no regard for the whole songs feel. Edit: Having completed the songs a bit for today, I listened to Mar De Grises again. The frequencies and tones it awakes within me is quite dark. I really can't connect it to the star though. I'd say it belongs more to The high priestess reversed as a whole. (Or even Wheel of fortune reversed, feeling reminds me of Purity Ring - Odedear) Anyway, this hit me when I was waking up. Two of pentacles reversed: Four of swords reversed: Six of wands reversed: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Way past wake up time, but I'll add some more here rather than make a new post. Ace of wands reversed: Two of wands reversed: Knight of pentacles reversed: Eight of wands reversed: Three of wands reversed: Ace of swords reversed: Page of swords reversed: I've sort of lost track of which I've done or not now, so I'll take a break. ;)
2dogs Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I was hoping for something a bit more obscure and exotic so this wasn't quite what I was looking for, but I think it's near enough ;). 6 of Pentacles - You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones.
2dogs Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 This however is exactly what I wanted :D. 9 of Swords - Attack Ships On Fire by the Revolting Cocks.
Guest Night Shade Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 The devil has all the best songs >:D. Absolutely! >:D Here are two more (for the obsession/stalker angle) Grenade - Bruno Mars Stan - Eminem
Guest Night Shade Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 4 of Cups reversed: I Want My Tears Back -Nightwish I had to include a couple of songs from my favorite band when I was a kid: The Fool - Follow Your Heart - Thompson Twins 10 of Cups - Future Days - Thompson Twins 9 of Wands - We Are Detective - Thompson Twins And another Devil song (addiction) Don't Mess With Doctor Dream - Thompson Twins
KaiNO Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I was hoping for something a bit more obscure and exotic so this wasn't quite what I was looking for, but I think it's near enough ;). 6 of Pentacles - You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones. Grandma[/member] has already marked this song as 5 of Cups. Please, agree on what's the best choice.

Grandma[/member] has already marked this song as 5 of Cups. Please, agree on what's the best choice. That's not possible. It would be like agreeing on a single definition for a given card. Sometimes "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is the Six of Pentacles, sometimes it's the Five of Cups. I can also see it as the Hanged Man, Death, the Ten of Swords and the Five of Wands, just off the top of my head, but please don't list it in all these places. I'm just giving examples of how I might read the song under certain circumstances.

Just like I with the Mar De Grises song you linked. You see The Star, I can see several other cards, but not the star. It doesn't make anyone wrong though. I guess it is best to settle for a first come first serve principle. If the song one had in mind is assigned to a card, then one will have to be creative and come up with another. In other words even more exploration of music, which is good, I've really enjoyed myself these last days. :D

Or one song for two, three, or a dozen different cards? Of course, this thread belongs to everyone and everyone's ideas have an equal place. The chart, on the other hand, is curated by KaiNO, and the ultimate decisions are his. And I've enjoyed seeing you enjoy yourself, Arch!
KaiNO Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Ground-rule, chart ;) : One song can only connect to one card. First come first principle. But a majority (one person more) can request a move for a song to another card

Yes I was of course referring to KaiNO's chart. :) Let us keep enjoying music and share what comes up for us! ;D
Arch Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I will leave the twists and turns of reversals now and come back to trying to interpret songs from a more standard frame. That way I can use the energy I save to delve a little deeper into the reasoning why I feel it is a good match. ^-^ Six of swords: The passage that makes it a Six of swords card in my mind. Walking faster down the street Red eyes and no shoes on her feet Going on this journey, determined to complete This is farewell, this is goodnight The last time she will see the daylight See the daylight And she's going on a journey Always walking down the road And the water is always calling "My little child, please come home" That's when she went away Away from the light of day Standing by the riverside Patiently waiting for the tide To come along, to come along The waters going through her feet And on her body wind so cold and sweet So cold and sweet And she's going on a journey Always walking down the road And the water is always calling "My little child, please come home" And the stars were brightly shining When she reached out they were gone And the water started calling "My little child, please come home" Feel the water in her body, water's never going out Feel the water in her body, water's never going out Feel the water in her body, water's never going out Feel the water in her body, water's never going out
