I'll be using the long-awaited Stolen Child Tarot this week.

I will try to be better about checking this thread during the week and adding participants (sorry for the late add last week Madame Squee!)   It's easy for me to forget during the busy work week, especially now I'm gaming again.   😛

I got my Stolen Child cards the day before we left, love the cardstock, looking forward to using them when we return.

To avoid packing a dozen decks for travel, Bev and I and a few others created my Rogue Tarot deck...78 cards from 78 different decks, plus I have my Frankendecken, same idea from and old AT joint project.

Easy peasy.  So Rogue Tarot for me, thanks VG

This week I will visit with the Mary- El Tarot  - and hopefully have time to read the thread about the different cards of the new edition

Since I just posted the last Bird of the Day in our thread from last week with last week's deck, We will have 2 birds today:

First Bird of the Day from the Southwest Birds:

 4 of Diamonds -Canyon Wren:

This little singer provides harmony and security in an otherwise stressful environment.

Find and secure you safe niche and use the simple things in life to derive pleasure and satisfaction from.

A good day to go shopping for home accessories, but keep your purse and car keys safe!

I'm in this week with the Granny Jones Tarot paired with the Button Oracle.

Thanks for keeping us rolling, VG.🌻

This week I'll be using the Granny Jones Australian Tarot, created by Granny Jones and published by Kangaroo Press. Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Button Oracle, a set I made myself from a collection of buttons. Today's draws are the High Priestess and the Ram:

high%2Bpriestess.jpgram.jpg

Granny seems to have pulled out every divination tool she has, including a familiar and two dragon spirits. But how do we know any information that comes to us is from our luminous mind rather than the egoic mind? There are certain 'tells' of the ego:

  •  The ego's main purpose to protect me physically, emotionally and mentally. It looks to benefit me only, not caring about anyone else (unless caring for them benefits me).
  • The ego wants me to be in control of things and likes to stay in its comfort zone. If it's not pleasurable, then it's not worth doing.
  • The ego is an expert at justifying and rationalizing by pointing out external causes and fixes rather than internal ones.
  • The ego's logic is often based on emotion or opinion, rarely reality. It prefers to see reality from one small angle rather than viewing the whole.

Bighorn sheep (like the one on the Ram button) have split hooves with rough bottoms that can firmly grip two-inch ledges on a mountain. They don't fear steep climbing because they know they can do it. The Ram's advice is to follow the wisdom of the luminous mind, even when it requires us to move out of complacency mode and onto ledges of the unknown.

So Saturday's and today's couples.

Yesterday was raining nonstop. Today, I got the Temperance which I am not so familiar with. Great adventure?! Must be inner journey because I'm not going anywhere today..or should I? Lots of water in all cards so far. Yes, I'm quite emotional at the moment..Full moon influence?

Bird of the Day:

5 of Diamonds - Juniper Titmouse

Titmouse, you are small, but watch out, everyone, she can and will do it!

She represents the ability to rise to any challenge and her daring provides a high success rate.

Health advice from our little friend:

You can apply directly to the skin for wounds and for pain in joints and muscles.

The Juniper berry's essential oil  is inhaled to treat bronchitis and numb pain.

In foods, the Juniper berry is often  a condiment and a flavoring ingredient in gin and bitter preparations.

(No wonder this little 5 of Diamonds is so feisty!)

@VGimlet Thank you for this week's thread and everything you do to keep us on track!💞  Honestly, I'm awful. Last week, I kept forgetting to check back in. I wasn't able to take much time for cards at all.

I'm in this week with The Playing Card Oracles deck.

I started re-watching the Oracle School videos on youtube this morning. If anyone else is interested, here's a link to the playlist (click on Oracle School):

Thank you @Madame Squee! Wow, I haven't heard of the Playing Card Oracles in a while.  Let us know how you get on with it if you can.

I am having trouble using oracles generally. Their message are too straight forward and give almost no room for interpretation. So I decided to use the RW only today. I have had something on my mind that is..well, a bit chaotic. So i did the Take Control Spread (can be found here in this forum, just search for it), placing 9 cards in a spiral. And it worked out soo well. Won't give details on why here cause it feels so personal. This RW deck is very good to read and gave such good results today. Thankyou!

Bird of the Day:

Ace of Spades!

Crested Caracara!!

2 exclamation marks, because this is the main Medicine Guide of my Inde' (Apache) teacher HSV.

(He would not like being named here....

Calling by name is POWER and done only in a very limited way in the culture.......

However, I can name the Ace of Spades for what it is - including all its terrrrrrible powers of turning on the shit-fan 😞

Disharmony in all kinds of scenarios, with partners , co workers, bosses...

bad news (yuck!)

mayor changes

It will take a superior mind to wade through this day and stay on course.

Mind over Matter and swirrrrrling emotions, misplaced trust and other woes.

A true leader will have the skill to keep the team together and focused.

Sore high above the confusion in the flustered chicken coup, just like this formidable Raptor and wrestle disharmony to the ground!

Bird of the day:

8 of Clubs – Phainopepla

This is a small rather hectic Bird with firery red eyes. Always somewhat nervous about its immediate territory and its beloved assets = Mistletoe berries.

So today is a day plagued by some worries about finances and starting a new project will be a bit of a gamble, because circumstances can change very quickly.

..............................................................................................................

The Phainopepla – or also called Black Silk Fly Catcher is the one that propagates Misteltoe by eating its seeds, and when they come out the other endengulphed in a sticky mess, that allows the Mistletoe seeds to take hold and germinate on that branch.

@Bodhiseed You're right -- they've been around for a long while! I've been a huge fan of "The Playing Card Oracles" ever since the book and deck set was first published in 2002 by Two Sisters Press in Denver.

C.J. Freeman's fantastical artwork grabbed me first. Then, the well-written book by Ana Cortez sealed the deal. Sometimes, I wonder why I keep dabbling in tarot. For purposes of divination, I have to admit that  the PCO deck and system is really all I need.

In addition to all the content on reading playing cards, the PCO book includes a method for using playing cards to figure geomantic calculations. That impressed me so much and still does.

Photos below...

The artwork in three of the PCO cards incorporate a geomantic figure:
6 of Diamonds -- Fortuna Minor

3 of Diamonds -- Caput Draconis

2 of Clubs -- Conjunctio

Bird of the Day:5 of Clubs

Lark Sparrow

There is much hope for the immediate future, the next week or so.

Your competitiveness was stressful, but will now pay off.

To relax and create some balance a nice walk or a swim, any form of physical activity is a good thing, after the work is done.

@Mi-Shell your readings are still a joy to read!

I am dropping out of this week's thread because I find myself going back to Dark Mansion doing readings using that instead of Radiant RW...

@Katie Do you have to drop out? Can't you just switch decks? I've done that before.

If it's ok to switch, I'll be glad 😀 It is somehow the Dark M that choses me, not the opposite.

Totally understandable. Also, I've signed up with two tarot decks in the past. I'm pretty sure others have, too.

@Mi-Shell thank you for your kind words. 🙂 That Crested Caracara is an impressive bird!

@Madame Squee I didn't realize she used geomancy too - thanks for posting the cards!

@Katie One of the rules of this group (that I am making up on the fly) is that you can change your mind and your decks however you'd like. 😄
