Hello! My name is jupiter (she/her), and I just registered here. I am in the process of rediscovering the Tarot – after a brief Tarot phase in my teenage years and a long hiatus I am now coming back to it at age 31. My first deck was the Cosmic Tarot, which I bought from a book shop in my small home town. I remember the cheeky feeling of browsing the aisle of esoteric books 🙂

I love reading about spiritual traditions, witchcraft, methods for self development/reflection and divination.

Thanks for having me!

willkommen @jupiter glad you found us here and great planetary name!

I came back to tarot in my 30's as well, it's fascinating isn't it? My story is I was really into it in my teens and packed it away in a drawer going into my 20's. I have talked to many people who were the same and I think you don't need tarot at certain times of your life and at times you do 🙂

Hello, Hallo, welcome :animated-smileys-signs-085:

Actually in my country we are saying also "Allo" (without a H though) but only when we pick up the phone, and this doesn't mean "hello" but more "yes I'm here at the end of the phone" or something. Well, another story! 🙂

For the Tarot (and the same for Astrology on my part) I have very often alternated between times of hiatus and renewal (but in between I forgot a lot...), so it is likely something usual!

Good rediscovering!!

Hi @jupiter I noticed you're from Germany which made me smile because I have a small obsession with mountains! Although, I've only been to the Appalachin range here in the US...I think full moon viewing from mountain tops are amazing. Absolutely ethereal . I know the Alps are over on Germany's border 🙂 Do you share my enthusiasm? As you journey in your tarot knowledge, you'll find out mountains have quite a bit of symbolism to explore and tarot, also.  Welcome and nice to meet you.

Which, in turn, made ME smile... 🙂 no mountains anywhere near where I am 😄 I am in northern Germany (if you want to look it up on a map, Hannover is the next bigger city from my town). I grew up close to the North Sea, without ever seeing a mountain except on holidays in Austria. Which is kind of sad, because I love the water and the mountains equally. My dream house would be located in an area with mountains and lakes.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome @Myakka_Fire . ❤️

I live in the mountains---the Cascades in the state of Oregon. My grandfather's family was from Germany and came here through Ellis Island when it was open. My grandfather was the youngest of the children but the only child they had who was born in America. I don't remember where in Germany they originated but someone who was doing a family geneology said they think it was Prussia when my great-grandparents immigrated, if that makes a difference. I suspect that they came from a mountainous area, but I'm not sure. My grandfather liked the Black Forest area, I remember. He talked about it sometimes but since he was born here in America, of course he wouldn't have necessarily known what it was like where they lived. His parents wouldn't let the children speak anything but English and he didn't seem to have known much about where they all originated.

I'm terrible with history and geography because they bored me when I was in school, so I didn't realize there was any area near the sea in Germany. I thought it was land-locked. I'll have to put Germany on my list of things to learn about now. 🙂

Oregon is water heaven. Everywhere you look there's water here on the western side of the state. We have lakes, creeks, rivers, and even the sea. One side of the state is bordered by the Pacific ocean. Where I live now, in the midst of a national forest, we have a creek that runs right through the RV park I live in.

If I think about it, that's also what "hello" means here, in that context. "I'm here. What's up?" LOL.
Sometimes it's inflected like a question: "Hello?" And then the person says who they are, and you're like, "Oh, hi!" because the initial "hello" wasn't really a greeting. 🤣

The Black Forest area and regions further south do have mountainous landscapes. Down in Bavaria is also where they celebrate Oktoberfest, which - because it is most famous around the world – tends to set the belief that Germans wear Dirndl and Lederhosen all year round  while eating Weisswurst and Brezel. Growing up in the north, I never understood this popular image of Germans in other countries 😄 In my childhood town in Eastfrisia we enjoyed Grünkohl (in the winter – not recommending you google this … 🥴), Matjes and green beans.

Visiting Oregon is actually on my bucket list (on a round trip across the States) – ever since I was interested in marathon running a good couple of years ago and came to know Eugene as the world capitol of the sport. From watching documentaries it looks tremendously beautiful there.

We have close (family-like) friends in Charleston, SC, which is where I've visited twice in my early teens. The diverse nature in the US is beyond words.

Oregon is such a beautiful state. I was born in Eugene and I've lived in this valley all my life. I've visited other states but this is my home. We have a little bit of everything here. Even year-round skiing. There's high desert, rain forest, the coastal area where you can visit the ocean, and farming areas that are more flat. We have mountains that are over 11,000 feet high. I hope you do get to visit Oregon. I live in the mountains about 40 miles from Eugene.
