So here's the Four of Water! I'll probably try tinting it again, like with the Fool. The design is a bit 'novel' so I might need to work on the LWB blurb carefully! 😍 I must ask - is it the same person you are depicting in the cards? Like a Wanderers journey..,? 😊

Thanks, Zedekiel! I'm curious what exactly the blurb will be like as well... it was a very intuitively-driven concept, but I'm working on how to put it across explicitly. @Raggydoll... yes, that's kind-of the idea, if left slightly ambiguous. I was thinking vaguely in terms of preparing the ground for that mythical full deck...

That’s what I hoped 😀 Your mythical deck is so intriguing! 🥰 (And I just started sketching my next card, which will be the first one that’s not meant to be featured in the We Are One but only in my deck. I plan to start a thread about it soon, when I have worked up the courage a bit more. It’s so daunting!! )
gregory Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 What do you need - I have a man who might co-operate..... PM me !

I'm going to have to sit down and plan the overall landscape of the deck before going much further, but I think this will slot in somewhere. 1 minute ago, Raggydoll said: (And I just started sketching my next card, which will be the first one that’s not meant to be featured in the We Are One but only in my deck. Seriously, your deck is going to be brilliant, and I'm so glad to hear you're starting it in earnest... will look forward to the updates!

I just thought that “If I draw three cards per month, well then it would only take me.., “ and I realized what a wonderfully huge undertaking this is 😁 48 minutes ago, Wanderer said: Seriously, your deck is going to be brilliant, and I'm so glad to hear you're starting it in earnest... will look forward to the updates! So do not think about the amount of cards you have to do, just start ❤️ I am pretty sure there will be steep and not so steep hills to move past. But hey, we are here to cheer you up! ❤️

This is beautiful @Wanderer ❤️ Like @Raggydoll I can see it is the Fool on his/her way. The little 'pearls' in the hair plus the posture/shape of the body. Well done! Keep going and once you start your deck and if you have your thread here, we will cheer you up on your journey too ❤️❤️❤️

I have admit I am coloring my original (old face and head but changed the smile) Novice of Water drawing (it was on different paper so wanted to see what it would look like) and I am now linking her!!! 😆 I will share her when done and you guys can pick which one of the two you want for the deck. I like the way the color pencils and pastels go onto my drawing paper vs. my watercolor paper.

One thing you might want to experiment with, for future cards, is to draw on the back of the watercolor paper. It’s an old trick used by many who are using pens instead of brushes. The structure is different and it can be easier to render finer details with a pen.

Now for my second idea, I can't for the life of me find copyright free images to use, and husband refuses to be in yet another picture... he is on 3 for one of the AT Tarots already. I need to persuade him somehow. I only need his back anyway, sheesh. Well if you just need his back, hopefully you can sneak your photo on the sly! Otherwise, did you try pixabay.com? I use posespace.com for human figures and portraits. You have to pay, but they are really cheap (anywhere from $1-5 for up to 20 360-degree views of a pose). They're all high quality photographs, and sometimes you can find free poses if the photographer isn't happy with the lighting on one. You can search by gender, skin tone, type of pose, portrait, with/without props, with/without clothing, etc.

Goes on like butter, forgives easily, and can handle tons of layers. For pastels, I prefer toothier tinted paper, like Tiziano (Fabriano). Maybe you can treat yourself to some new supplies after this project! Can't wait to see your new version - so exciting when you start liking your art!!!

My sketch pad is heavy weight Strathmore drawing paper, so good quality. It says it is acid free for finished artwork. Once I am finished coloring my original Novice of Water I will probably do the Novice of Air on this paper as I am really liking how both the pastels and the colored pencils are looking on it. The colors seem a bit more vivid than on the other paper.
Jewel Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 OK so here is version 2 of the Novice of Water .... which one do you guys like best?

Jewel Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 @Raggydolland @Wanderer, by first one do you mean the first picture of the two I just posted, or the first one I posted as completed (straight eyes, or eyes turned to the sides?)

Wanderer Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Sorry, that was ambiguous, wan't it..! I meant the upper one.

The paper made a huge a difference and of course not having the horrid nose did wanders for me too. I also like the dress a lot better. I think with some minor tweaks from my "magical" digital friend and I will be really pleased.
