@GrandmaI love the use of the poor, tormented Medusa as the victim - her side is too often forgotten, and it does suggest the flip side, as to what we become when suffering... There's a real sense of the surreal, in a way that only nightmares can induce. Perfect.

I think it's perfect.  I like that you're using Medusa, as she was tormented herself.  She was beautiful before she was cursed with the snake hair and then forced to live alone in a cave.  Medusa, to me, means someone who is so utterly tormented and has so much pain inside that they lash out, torment others, or create miserable situations for anyone around them.

Wow thank you geoxena.  I must have known Medusa's story at one time but I've forgotten at least 90% of everything I've ever learned.

Holy moly four of my favorite art critics love the card.  Thank you dear Wanderer.

Here's a little secret I decided to tell: the face is me with my hair scraped back, my lips and most of my eyebrows erased with thick makeup, my eyes ringed with heavy black eyeliner, and the most anguished expression I could manage while holding the camera steady and fumbling for the right button to push.  I'm really moderately attractive in real life but I went for ghastly here.

You're really theatre folk, aintcha?  I love it.  Very Hichcockian. If I were doing photo collage, I might try to put myself in it, too, in makeup and costume.  My favorite holiday is Halloween because it's the one holiday adults can get away with playing dress-up.

Oh dear, I didn't mean to traumatize you my poor Jewel!  Your feedback has been invaluable and I have scared you in return.

Its all good!  That card says to me what I think it should.  I associate the 9 of Swords with nightmares, fearing the worst, mental anguish and your card says all that to me, so the fact that I had that reaction upon seeing it is that when it comes up in a reading I will connect with it right away!  Now if you had scared me with a different card not intended to convey that (like if my Explorer of Earth ant had scared Geoxena) it would be another thing, but for this one it is perfect!

Then you read the card with the vision intended by the artist!  Now I'm off to the gym to burn off some of this goofy energy.

 OK I think you might have ruined my own card for me because I will always envision your Power Point work when it comes up instead of the artwork I created! 😆  That is truly hilarious @Grandma@geoxenaplease do not decapitate my ant!!!! 🤣  @Grandmaalready chopped some of his feet off!

Hi all! Wow very impressed with Medusa! I just dropped by to see what's going on, it'll be some time before I can start my own card, a big art supply order needs to be made and I'm stuck out of town until the weather cooperates! I have a medium in mind as I said but no clue yet as to the image. I'll visit to get inspired and wow what a great deck this will be!

You seriously need to consider getting involved with Renaissance Festivals! you get to "Garb-Up" for those and do not have to wait for a one day a  year holiday 😆  We used to go to a couple of the ones around here, but due to our senior special needs pup are unable to due to the distance and the fact that he needs a personal attendant at all times so we do not leave him alone more than 4 hours at time and that is pushing it.  But in the future we hope to get back into RenFest, lord knows we spent enough money on garb over the years (we are pirates!).  It is super fun dressing up and goofing off pretending you are living in a different century and taking on a different persona for an afternoon 🤣

Not bad for on the Edge of Seventy Two if I do say so myself!

But that's really me, taken two weeks ago.  Oh - you want to see my face?  Not gonna happen at least until someone takes a decent picture of me.  I always look awful in pictures.  But I'm feeling kind of daring so maybe - oh okay - I'm really prettier in real life but this will give you an idea -  taken two weeks ago in my neighbor's apartment.  I can't believe I'm doing this.  I better hit Submit Reply before I change my mind...

Oh yes, I've attended a smattering of things like that.  Lived in NYC many years so never owned a car, and the ex wasn't into it, so never did much of it - but I made a great Xena costume to attend a XenaCon once.  But with Halloween, I meant grown-ups can walk around in the street, go to work, literally anywhere, dressed up and it's acceptable.  I love that.

Well for the love of all things magical, how cool is it to open up this thread and get to "meet" you face to face, @Grandma! Aren't you the cutest!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. all my besties now are in their 70s, a decade-plus older than me. I'm convinced the 70's are IT, because every single one of my new friends are just amazing.

Someday you must divulge the story behind your sleeves

Here's what I'll do - I'm having some work done later this month so I'll have my tattoo artist take pictures of my sleeves in rotation.  He's really good at that.  Then I'll post them and explain what's what.

Here is the finished Nine of Air.  The trifecta of anguish and despair is complete.  @geoxena, @Jewel,  @Raggydoll, was the popcorn  party fun?

Love, Grandma
