I'm off Facebook for a while (just needed a social media break), so I'm out of the loop with any announcements or discussion there. It’s going to print in February but I suspect it will be slightly delayed since Chinese New Year holidays was extended 14 days. The corona virus in itself won’t be a threat as far as contagious packages (people on Facebook have already been panicking about that - though no virus can survive that long without a live host) but the administrative stuff might take longer. It’s out of Avalon’s hands as far as I am aware though I am not entirely sure what’s going on with the left over decks. Those were meant to go for sale at the end of January and if she procrastinated that then that may also cause issues 😕 Maybe we can have @gregory send another email? Those seem to really get things going. She’s got the magic touch 😊
gregory Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 I might, but not now. But if it;s out of her hands now something might actually happen....

But I fear that she needs to actually give them the addresses for the buyers of the left over decks, and if she doesn't do that in time then I don't think they will push print. So that is my biggest concern. I can't see why she didn't just decide to have the leftover decks wait for now and then sell them later. But then again, I could also not see why she wanted to spend several months trying to get hold of people to confirm their addresses.

There are so many amazing decks out there and this one is getting a bit too much drama for me. Her recent posts on YouTube are, let's just say, unfortunate. Edit to add: I definitely don't want after-promo orders to hold up the shipments and hope that if she does offer them, she just waits until the original promotions are filled. RavenOfSummer Posted February 7, 2020 Author Posted February 7, 2020 Thanks for the info @Raggydoll. And yes, I feel very much the same as you all...I do feel very badly for her with the situation with her ex-partner, but I don't think there's any reason it should have taken months and months to confirm people's mailing addresses 😕

It is very sad, but the delays seem to have started long before her current circumstances. Just sending good vibes that all goes well and there are no more delays.

RavenOfSummer Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 Well I know I sound like a broken record, but wondering if anyone has seen/heard anything new since it's been three weeks and the deck was supposed to be printing this month?

Raggydoll Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I believe the printing factory might be affected by the quarantine for the Corona Virus.
gregory Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I would be more likely to believe that had it not been for all the weepy videos. Also - as she is so good at whining - you'd have thought she'd have managed a woe woe sob my printer won't do their thing video.... That said, I have this week received two decks printed in China, that came within days of being ordered So I don't actually entirely buy into that either. I suppose it MIGHT have held up if she were to receive a massive load and then have to mail them out - but her printer is doing the shipping, so.... I am way past sympathy here.

I actually don´t know for sure regarding the quarantine. It might not affect her printer, I just heard some other publishers mention that their decks would be held up for a while longer due to the quarantines so I thought it might be the same for this deck. I think Ethony was one of the people who had a deck that was likely being held up. I haven't heard Avalon say anything about it, the last think she said was that she had spoken to them and they would open back up after the extended Chinese new year holiday (16th of february). She also said that she was done commenting on the whole thing and that it was now out of her hands. Which I am not sure it entirely is, since she hasn't put up the remaining decks for sale and as far as I know, she hasn't cleared things with the fulfillment center (its not the printer who does the shipping, they decks are meant to be distributed by a separate company). There has also not been a newsletter sent out and that is something I think is really important for her to do. A closed facebook group cannot be the only means of communicating with your customers.
gregory Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 To be ABSOLUTELY fair (I do try) several of us did ask her NOT to try and sell the remaining decks till those people who had already paid and given her their details had got theirs. It seemed only fair, at the point when she suddenly said we might all be held up for even longer till she had sold all the others and got those addresses to the printer as well. She did say at one point that she has terrible TROUBLE with addresses - god knows why.... No-one else seems to, So I'd see it as a plus that she hasn't put the others up yet. But how DARE she say cheerily: Quote .........that she was done commenting on the whole thing We have a RIGHT to regular (FREQUENT even) updates. If she can do them on her personal situation, she can do them for those to whom she owes A LOT of money
FindYourSovereignty Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I know the second shipment of the Oriens Deck was delayed because of the virus and was supposed to start up again after the Chinese New Year holiday, but was again delayed because of the virus. Thankfully the creator does continue to send supporters regular updates. It is so interesting to me how the Bonestone deck creation is playing out and the energy it is consuming. Hmmm... what is the lesson here? There are so many incredibly beautiful decks out there and even more being created everyday, yours included @Raggydoll. I think I am going to release the Bonestone now and focus my energy elsewhere.

If I were to get upset at every setback then I would waste so much of my precious energy. And I’d rather put that energy into creating my deck 🙂

Depending upon where the cards are printed or held in a warehouse it could be another few weeks yet. If they are in or anywhere near Hubei then it will be much longer. As for the virus surviving on packaging, this is a very real threat as it has been able to stay alive outside the body, albeit under laboratory conditions up to 7 days. It has been found on door handles still alive, but not in a multiplying stage 5 days old. So it depends on how its shipped, by air has a risk, By boat should be ok but then that will be at least a 60 day lead time. However if anyone has got one coming just as a precautionary, I would personally spray the outer cellophane packaging before opening with a dettol spray or other disinfectant. and your hands too after for that matter. 🙂

I have to say that I am honestly just as happy to wait even if it takes several weeks or even months. I think about even the postal office having to handle my package and just continue to hope all will be well.
Bodhiseed Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 From the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website: Q: Am I at risk for COVID-19 from a package or products shipping from China? A: There is still a lot that is unknown about the newly emerged COVID-19 and how it spreads. Two other coronaviruses have emerged previously to cause severe illness in people (MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV). The virus that causes COVID-19 is more genetically related to SARS-CoV than MERS-CoV, but both are betacoronaviruses with their origins in bats. While we don’t know for sure that this virus will behave the same way as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, we can use the information gained from both of these earlier coronaviruses to guide us. In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods.

Which means that the package will be in a cool environment and will likely take several weeks to make it to most buyers. Though it’s of course always a good idea to wash your hands after you’ve been to collect a package or before you sit down to eat. Any package from anywhere in the world could have contagious matter on it. So a sensible hygiene is a very good idea. Had the circumstances been different then I agree that it might have been a serious problem with contagious packages. But no virus will live that long in a cool environment. I do hope you stay safe over there!
