Deck Creations

I'm considering making some of my decks available on Deckible (an app for iOS and Android). I understand it's not 100% mature yet and there are bugs here and there but I think is a pretty nice idea and it's free, so I think I'll give it a try. Has anyone here already used it to publish their deck? Any feedback to share?

A few years ago, I used one of the Chinese card making companies to create for myself a personal cartomancy deck to use. I'm not sure how to explain it. It's a Hybrid. It's a normal poker deck, but what I did was import the older meanings of the Tarot de Marseille to its corresponding poker card. For example the Ace of Cups is the Ace of Hearts, Two of Swords is the Two of Spades. And so on. Both the Tarot and French cards [our common "poker" cards] evolved from a common ancestor which was called "Nabi" by the Arabs. Even if some of you may not be familiar with the I Ching, I'd like to have some feedback from you on this idea of mine. i've come across many tarot readers who offer to give people a "personal message" from whomever the reading may be concerning (e.g. "your SP says ____") i joined this forum to, let's say, broaden my horizons, in tarot and was wondering if anybody could explain to me the legitimacy of these kinds of decks? to clarify, i mean messages on paper that a reader may have prepared by hand, rather than decks that are printed with messages on them (oracles i believe?)

When buying a tarot deck with a guide book, what is it that you expect to be included in a tarot guidebook?

So, I got to thinking based off another post I just made in deck creations and now I'm curious... For those of you who have or are making your own deck or making one for others; when you come across a card that could have more than one very different meaning to you, how do you go about it? Do you mesh them? Go with the more positive meaning to attract positive energies and outcomes? Go with a traditional meaning and toss yours out? For example: for me 5 of pentacles is either "this will result in feeling ICEsolated, move on" (pun intended) or it means "through thick and thin" depending on the cards next to it, so if this was your interpretation of this card ho…

Hey all! I'm just finishing up my tarot deck and looking into printing. I'm debating right now: once printed, should the cards have rounded edges? Aesthetically I actually like the cards having sharp corners since I think it fits the style of the deck. But I've never seen tarot with sharp corners before, and I'm concerned that it'd make them hard to shuffle or cause them crease very easily. The primary focus of my deck is symbolism, and more specifically, the actual symbols found on each card. Most of the cards I have designed so far are very much in keeping with the general "idea and feel" of Smith's illustrative interpretation, although I have taken the liberty of adding some symbolic elements of my own when I feel they might enhance the meaning of the card. I can't be the only one who scours kickstarter and similar sites for new decks, so I wanted to create a hub for us to post about decks from kickstarter (and other crowdsourced sites) that interest us, tell people about our experiences with crowdsourced decks, and generally spread the word about these indie decks that may not be available later. My personal favorite kickstarter deck is "The Children of Litha"- it's a beautiful deck, and the artist obviously cares a lot about tarot. You can feel the love for the craft in every card!

Folks who know me from my time on AT will know I have a thing for decks created using cards from 78 different decks. It seemed a logical spin-off from a project that took place on AT, and something to do with the odd cards you sometimes end up with. Hey everyone, back with my other one! I had this one up at AT, not super popular there but hopefully I'm working out the bugs. It was the Ancient Celtic Tarot but I dunno, just didn't sit right, since of course they had no Tarot images per se. But a Tarot comprised of images based on relics, that I can get behind, and I am! So the originals of the cards were rough pen & ink drawings combined with some computer graphic stuff. I've been spending the day with the printer trying to fix the resolution problem I discovered so far in. I had been taking the images and hand-drawing the entire thing in pencil and then re-scanning at 300 dpi, but that is TONS of work and may no…

As suggested by Saturn Celeste some while ago, I'd be happy to share some of the cards from the deck I created. I regularly post them on my Instagram account at the moment but I thought it'd be time I got out of my shell and shared it on the forum. Hey just curious how most of you like your deck or would prefer one between these styles/types: A: a deck that has a theme even if courts and suits aren't necessarily shown, i.e. a flower themed deck with no pentacles, swords, etc just pictures showing the main vibe of the cards meaning through various plants. Hi there! Im currently about halfway through the First Draft stages of a deck Im creating as an exploration of both the Rider/Waite/Smith and Thoth decks...
