I have recently come across images of a deck called "Conjure Cards: Fortune-Telling Card Deck and Guidebook", by Jake Richards. It's inspired by the traditions and folklore of Appalachia. I really like the look of the cards, but it seems they have a system of their own, so it's not a "neutral" PC deck. Then again, I supppose it'd be possible to use it with other methods, if you see the images merely as decorative. I was curious if anyone else has this deck and, if so, what have been your experiences with it! Also, is the guide that comes with it any good? Thanks!

What are your thoughts on the King of Hearts, Jack of Hearts, and Queen of Spades in a standard deck of modern playing cards? I love how these three cards stand out from the rest. The King of Hearts has a sword held behind his head, earning him the nickname "The Suicide King". The Jack of Hearts is the only male card to hold a flower (he holds a lily compared to the Queens who all hold roses) The Queen of Spades is the only Queen to hold a scepter, which when you think about it, it kind of looks like she's holding a dangerous weapon like the male kings and jacks.

Just wondering what resources more experienced playing card readers would recommend for a beginner. I have 54 Devils by Cory Thomas Hutcheson and it's a very easy book to read. I'm just wondering if it's light on meanings, though? I have no experience with other books, so I don't know. Of course, it is possible that I'm too used to Tarot books where they dive deep into each card, and perhaps that's just not possible with playing cards.

I recently purchased on old Dondorf Whist deck because of the charming fancy characters of the Courts and particularly the odd looking-over-the-shoulder look of the Queen of Diamonds, King of Spades and Knave of Clubs. I am familiar with directions in reading cards, left, right, full-on, half-face, full face, up, down, one-eyed, past, present, future, and even the Mitelli tarocchi deck with the Knights on Horses facing the four compass directions (I've always found the hind-end of a horse in that deck amusing 😄 ) , but this is something different for me --this over-the-shoulder glance. Is it interpreted as one being cautious, dishonest, sneaky, becoming caught, or surpris…

24 Images with 1 686 553 615 927 922 354 187 720 possibilities. The text on the box is in German and French. I must have been made quite a while ago as the text on the box tells us: when all the people of the world (more than 3 milliard) every second lay out a combination it will take 16 million years to make all the combinations. Years ago i found some really strange cards, The set contains 24 images which all fit together in a layout. It does not matter if one of the images is on the end, in the beginning or in the middle.. Always a beautifull world appears; a world which always fit. Pictures of the box: Pictur…

In case you don't know yet, Kapherus has had his web site, Art of Cartomancy, back up for some time now. This post gives a fascinating look at his economical way of reading the cards. https://cardseer.wordpress.com/2019/06/26/playing-cards-are-multidimensional/

Just saw this yesterday. Apparently Rothfuss had a kickstarter (now closed) to produce a deck of cards featuring characters from the story. Amazon stock them - two version, limited edition and unlimited. The only difference is the card back colour. Just in case anyone's interested! I <3 the Rothfuss books. :) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/882053899/the-name-of-the-wind-art-deck https://www.amazon.com/Name-Wind-Playing-Cards-Unlimited/dp/B00ICCFI14 https://www.amazon.com/Name-Wind-Playing-Cards-Limited/dp/B00JA34EXC

I am desperately seeking this vintage deck of playing cards, images of which I have fallen in love with online. So far all I've found are expired ebay listings. Does anyone know of a source for vintage playing cards?

Don’t know if there are other playing cards fans here but came across this on Kickstarter. Faunae I love the illustration style and the fact it’s nature based.

Has anybody worked with the Gypsy Witch? I have my own copy, I haven't unsealed it yet but I got it really cheap. Lately it's been on my radar, and I keep on reading the most curious things about the deck,. Mainly regarding how accurate and straightforward it is and how harrowing its predictions can sometimes be. I'm interested in knowing about your personal experiences with the deck tho. I'm very excited to try it. :D

Just bought this today, wasn't even aware it existed! It's made by Aquarius from an Hasbro Licensing, and was released in 2017. The cards can be a little confusing in a spread, but they looks so nice!!! ;D

Pretty neat for those into playing cards and mythology...the courts of this deck depict the 12 labors of Hercules:

I've bought a little Russian (?) 36 card deck - it has Aces, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 3 courts for each suit. The courts are double-headed, the 'pip' cards have line drawings in the background of each card, different for every card. The aces are illustrated I'm thinking I might try and figure out what all the drawings are, and try and make a divination deck of it. Does anyone have any experience with a deck like this? From the creator's site: THE CARDS A limited edition deck of 54 Tarot cards designed by the British artist Alice Instone. The pack was created with strong women in mind - each card has a saying around its edge offering shrewd and intuitive Grandmotherly thoughts of wisdom, experience, reassurance, love, patience, stoicism, continuity and comfort. The project was inspired by Alice's own grandmother who she played cards with as a child. Her grandmother's house felt like a refuge to Alice and, she remembers, "the cards themselves were also therapeutic, the motifs magical, ambiguous, enigmatic.” CARD AND BOOK BOX SET The Grandmother's Tarot Set incl…

I'm curious if has anyone here worked with this deck? I've never read with playing cards, although I have collected a few decks. The art for this one is so striking, and it's so interested that they've combined playing cards with traditional tarot in the deck. Also very cool that there are "light" and "dark" editions of the deck! I see that both versions of the deck as still available in a post-Kickstarter edition here, but I don't see the "expansion pack" for the remaining cards to make a full tarot deck available on this site as it was during the Kickstarter. Anyway, I've only just seen this deck for the first time and am really curious about it!

There are a slew of Game of Thrones playing card decks available now, but I've set my eyes on THESE. They're so gorgeous! If you know some cartomancy, these would be a perfect complement for the upcoming Game of Thrones Tarot set, especially if you perform two-deck readings. Only thing is: there seems to be no plans for this deck's release yet, as per the creator. A few more pics are available HERE, altho it seems that a few design changes has been made since. I prefer the latter tho. Also: no GoT for 2018? I guess we have to wait until 2019 to watch the final season. :(
