barghestart Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 I am on an economy drive at present, but just before that I ordered the Embroidered Graveyard Oracle. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theembroideredforest/the-embroidered-graveyard-oracle I haven't seen an embroidered deck since the Enchanted Tarot (which is a little too busy for me) and loved the skeleton theme. The layouts look really interesting and imaginative. It's gotten delayed due to Covid-esque shipping issues, but I'm hoping to be acquainted with it by the end of the year!

I think the LWB will be OK. Some of the card meanings are shown there on the amazon page. It deals in practical cartomantic stuff: enemies, business success, loss, good or bad news, etc. with a bit of woo ("haints", evil spirits) thrown in for good measure. Other than being oversized (I think a bridge sized version would have been wonderful) it looks like some old deck you might find on ebay. It looks like it could have been made in 1940, or 1900, or 1880...

You might not recommend it for beginners, if it's confusing, wonky, or off-model. Like some, you might not intend to read with it at all, or you might want it as a gag deck for joke readings. Some decks are so bad, it's hilarious. I was almost tempted by this because it made me laugh (though the OP has my sympathy): I even considered starting a small collection of Horrible Decks. But I really don't want to spend money on those. Even $5 is too much for a first edition Beautiful Creatures. As for what I'm waiting for in the mail, there's another deck of german suited playing cards that I ordered back in October. I had hesitations but found it very cool with its gothic side, but also funny. At time I’m a little unpredictable with Tarot (I own the 5-Cent Tarot!); I won’t order the Beautiful Creatures though (I find it weird, even creepy). On the de-enabling thread I’m horrible whatever the deck 😁 but the decks I’m diligent to ruin the reputation are always decks I don’t own myself though, I have an ethic 😜 Edited December 17, 2021 by Decan

I only passed because I don't get on with the art style. But it looks like a good RWS adaptation. Perfectly usable. Speaking of gothic, on the condition that they did it WELL, I'd love to see a Brontë deck. Stuff from all three sisters. Not force-fitted into a Tarot format, just a deck. The madwoman in the attic, the red room, the drugged trip to the festival, the nun's habit on the bed, the ghost at the window, the abusive employer, the alkie husband...it could work. Sometimes, everyone on YouTube is recommending a deck saying it's great and then you get it and you find they ignored all thy text and recommended thy a deck that thy cannot bear. 😵😄
