A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us!

You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in.

  • Please post with your chosen deck for the week.
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you.
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here.

You're welcome and welcome back @Scarlet Woodland & @Bodhiseed 🙂

I'm working with the Tarocco neoclassico italiano paired with Sabian Symbols this week. I've gotten some serious results using the Sabian Symbols! It's amazing how the cards have correlated with them each day...

Hi folks!♥

May I join you again?

It's been a while, but first I was away and then I was very busy with teaching a mandated curriculum from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada to/ in Catholic church congregations.....

Now I do have some time to look at a new deck again:

The Sacred Hags Oracle arrived as a Winter Solstice present and i do like it very much♥

Hi, crew!  Great to see you all here for the first week of 2023!

This week I’ll be using Lenormand Solitaire along with the Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards.  The link between them is that their cards have partial images which match up when you lay them out.

I haven’t used Lenormand in years, so I will unashamedly use my notes for reading.  I came up with some idiosyncratic meanings for some Lenormand cards awhile back so I’m going with them!  The Russian Gypsy Cards have many cards similar to Lenormand plus lots of other cards (it’s missing 5 Lenormands and adds 19 more), and I’m working on coming up with meanings for them that are a bit different than the book’s because of overlap with the Lenormands and because it’s me!  (Right now I’m stuck on Apple and Cat, but I’ll figure them out soon.)

The Lenormand Solitaire set includes the 18 “solitaire” cards with a card-sized guidebook and a regular Lenormand deck of 36 with the same art in an odd but usable back-to-back tuckbox.  I wouldn’t have gotten it for the art alone, but it’s acceptable/nice.  They have a very nice linen finish.

I’ve had the Russian Gypsy for many years.  I checked to see if it’s still in print, and it is.  And Amazon conveniently notes that I purchased this item on July 3, 2006!  A nice hardback book and 25 very pretty square cards on very flimsy cardstock in a sturdy slipcase.  (The box says “illustrated in the Russian ‘Palekh’ style.”)

I practiced matching with both decks before this first reading, so let’s see what we get!  How will the deck and I get along?

anchor, bouquet

I hope for a stability in my readings, but in the long run, reading Lenormand is a gift.

horse, lilies, snake, anchor, apple, moon, bridge

The book says to read according to the direction of the pictures (there are four directions because the cards are square), but I’m going to ignore that for now.  I know my limitations!

I’m moving forward to new and exciting ways of reading, but I should beware of hidden pitfalls.  Again, I’m hoping for stability, but instead will encounter (apple) confusion and fantasy.  But reading in this way can be a bridge to something better.

Hey, I tried!  I look forward to what else these odd decks have to say this week.  I think I’m going to have a subject for the readings because I’m not really ready to go full “general reading” with them yet!

These are my Rune Dice. I have only cast with them a few times, but I'm looking forward to using them tonight.  I love their appearance, and  they

have a nice weight to them.

Are many of you doing something special this evening or tomorrow?

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Thank you for the thread @fire cat pickles Please sign me up this week with the Yarn Tarot.

This deck was chosen for me by my daughter who knows me very well. I enjoy crocheting and also hoarding yarn.

The card stock is really good imo: standard tarot size, thick, yet flexible enough to shuffle, with a lovely, lovely whispery matte finish.

I've just laid them out, and Strength is one of my favorite cards. I love that kitty's sharp claws that resemble fingers. Also, the pattern of stitches show in the gown which is fun.

Hey @Wyrdkiss I love your dice! (Throwing dice is one of my favorite things to do.) I'm just hanging out with tarot cards for the first time in a very long while. I also celebrated the end of 2022 by ordering the Moon Baby Tarot. Do you have anything special planned?

Welcome to the group @Madame Squee! Is the Tarn Tarot a cat-themed deck or is just the Strength card with the kitty in it?

This week I'll be using the World Spirit Tarot, published by Llewellyn and created by Jessica Godino and Lauren O'Leary. The oracle deck I'll be pairing with it is the Mystic Glyphs; it was published by Red Wheel and created by Barb Rogers. Today's draws are the Seer (Page) of Pentacles and Place of Emergence:

seer%20of%20pentacles.jpg place%20of%20emergence.jpg

This Seer/Page is a student of Earth and all its inhabitants. They probably call her a 'seer' because she noticed that a red sky in the morning forewarns of storms and that it's best not to plant tender herbs or vegetables until after the pecan trees bloom. Her ability isn't magic; she simply pays attention with a focus for detail that most folks don't employ. The Place of Emergence glyph symbolizes coming out of a long tunnel and arriving someplace new and full of wonders. No one gets here without first putting in the effort of learning and then putting into practice what has been studied.

Today is the first blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one!

Can I still join? I'd like to use the Light Seer's Tarot. My days are very full but I hope I can take up this habit again 🙂

Thank you!!!

I stopped doing this practice in May 2020, more than two years ago, after years of Deck of Week and Card of the Day practice. There was no specific reason why I stopped. I continued with my tarot calendar and continued to read professionally. I guess I was simply a bit tired. I had more time than I had now, that's for certain.

This is my weekly star. I connected the Chaldean order of the planets (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon) with a seven pointed star and that's the planetary sequence of weekdays, nearly all over the world.

I instinctively associate every day of the week with the planet it belongs to but I'll try to be more open and less structured.

Eight of Cups. What a great interpretation. Her confident stride immediately calls to mind the last scene of "Shakespeare in Love".

I have done a number of readings over the last few days and weeks - the Winter Solstice reading here on TT&M, and Biddy's Planner recommended a reading for the transition of the year which I did, too. I could probably sum them all up with the Eight of Cups. Get moving, get moving on, why did you lose your goals from sight? Just start moving already.

@Nemia, the Light Seer's is one of my favorite decks. That Eight of Cups seems to parallel the Place of Emergence card I pulled today.

Hi all!  Beautiful decks this week!  And the rune dice are so elegant!  Can't go wrong with gold on black!

Here's my matching decks reading for today!

Wow! That such a great idea @fire cat pickles!! I think pairing cats and yarn would sell a thousand decks in no time. The Yarn Tarot* is interesting and fun, but (sadly) it only gives us cats in Strength and the Queen of Wands. (The Queen's cat is behaving very well in the moment.)

(I didn't find a credit for the author of the hardback LWB, which includes a B&W photo of each card, upright and reversed meanings, several spreads, advice on how to read, and an elemental table for the minors.)
