Rachelcat Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Hi, everybody! Hi, fire cat! This week for me will be Tarot Emblemata by Nitasia Roland. It has black background with gold artwork, with a linen finish. It’s based on “Renaissance emblems from the French writer and historian Claude Paradin’s emblem book Devises Heroique, published in 1551 with woodcut illustrations attributed to Bernard Salomon.” The mottos on the cards are in Latin and English translations. There are 10 extra cards, which the author calls “oracle cards.” I think of them as extra majors and will keep them in the mix. There is a separately purchased full-sized “companion guidebook” that I didn’t find very helpful and is definitely not necessary to enjoy the deck. Ok, let’s shuffle and interview! Lots of cups, no majors. What is your most important characteristic? 2 of Cups, Fidelity enricheth You either love it or hate it. It’s faithful to tarot meanings. What is your strength? King of Cups, Full of all kinds of cares Interesting take of the king of cups: he’s in charge, and he cares, so he worries. The deck cares about how I and others feel about it. Which makes it eager to please! What is your weakness? 4 of Cups, Missed opportunities He misses the hand from above. The deck misses out on other choices it could have made. It isn’t open to non-RWS meaning. What can you teach me? 10 of Swords, Dead end, betrayal, tragedy, defeat of spirit It can teach me bad things, including defeat, happens. And maybe how to deal with that. Tarot isn’t all fun and games. How can I learn it? Page of Cups, Live together in peace and tranquility By keeping an open, beginner’s heart. This cup doesn’t have a lid; it allows circumstances, or a higher power, to fill it up. What will be the outcome of our work together? 7 of Cups, Everything unknown appears magnificent Similar to the 4. Choices were made to create the deck, and I may agree or disagree with them. I don’t like it as much once I have it in hand, but it’s fun to have!
Bodhiseed Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) This week I'll be using the Victorian Fairy Tarot, created by Lunaea Weatherstone with Gary A. Lippincott and published by Llewellyn. Paired with it will be the Haindl Rune Oracle, created by Hermann Haindl and published by U.S. Games. As an additional resource, I'll be dipping into The Serpent and the Eagle by Chris Travers. Today's draws are the Three of Summer (Cups) and Raido: No friendship is an accident. ―O. Henry We're entering summer here, also known as 'hell season' to those not acclimated to our intense heat and humidity. These birds and fairies show just how to cool off in such weather as they splash in the water. At times, we may also need a cathartic cleansing for our emotions. While a cold shower might be helpful, time spent with companions who know how to laugh and have fun can be even better medicine. The rune Raido means 'riding,' and can signify literal or metaphorical travel. I recently received a card from a dear friend who moved to another state quite a few years ago. She is returning next month, and I look forward to renewing an in-person relationship with her again. My heart gets a lift just thinking about it! Edited June 26, 2023 by Bodhiseed
Bodhiseed Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 @Rachelcat, that quote for the Seven of Cups - Everything unknown appears magnificent - is perfect!
Mi-Shell Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Hi guys! ♥ I am back, clutching my Alchemist's Garden Tarot (Plants only, no humans) My Morning draw today: 1 card of the day: The Chariot = Coffffeeeee!!!!! Yes, absolutely right and helpful! In the morning I neeeed my cup of Hazelnut coffee to get my inner chariot into drivable condition. Today this drive will be a quite rickety one, because due to the weather = hot, humid, thunderstorms and all the heavy smoke from the forest fires up in Quebec still lingering, I am crawling along with a heavy migraine squeeeeezzzzing my brain 😞 Coffee helps - together with Red willow bark = Aspirin to at least be able to see the keyboard in front of me. Getting up and moving around will be a different matter.... Card 2 = A challenge: 5 of Pentacles = Gorse Well, this is a plant that I personally know very little about - other than it is an important member of the Celtic Tree alphabet. the card shows me the plant - and the keyword Trial That does not sound too enticing:( I do not neeeeed any more trials. I am still recovering from the one just before the Solstice (- check my Solstice reading in the other forum) My book informs me, that Gorse has prickly spines and because of its volatile oils can easily become a nasty fire hazard!!! Here in Canada we certainly do NOT need that. As a warning I will try my best not to become frustrated and volatile myself - rather have another Coffeeeeeee.... Card 3 = A helper: 9 of Wands = Yerba Mate with the keyword "Stamina" Yes, that's more like it! I loooove yerba Mate and am thinking of a maybe have a cup of Yerba Mate. The tea is bitter - so add honey - and it is a powerful antioxidant and gives a lasting energy boost. So - it is not a very good idea, to drink some after 2 pm. Stamina is something I certainly can never have enough of. On my card there are 2 twigs of Yerba Mate, so one of them will be for me and one for Peter.
Wyrdkiss Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I'm in with the illustrated pips trionfi fella Luna. @Bodhiseedtry pasting your text with "clear formatting "? It's dark and completely unreadable. Thanks all.
Madame Squee Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Thank you for the thread @fire cat pickles 🥀🦇 I couldn't choose between them, so I'm in with both the Grand Tableau Lenormand and Le Fanu's Destroyed Dondorf.

There are two choice for view on this site. I use night mode to reduce eye strain. This means letters are white. In that option your text is a black screen. Edited June 26, 2023 by Wyrdkiss
Bodhiseed Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 @Wyrdkiss, I made the text a lighter (gray) color. Hope that helps.

Rachelcat Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) Tuesday First part of Celtic cross Significator: World, it is completed In this reading, I’m representing the whole world, an everyperson if you will. Or someone who has already accomplished everything I want to? Cover: 5 of Wands, Force that cannot be overcome with force The reading is about conflict. The arrows all point the same way, but it’s a darn snake! Someone isn’t telling the truth in this conflict. Cross: 2 of Pentacles, Equal conjuncture might confirm the certainty Conjuncture? Maybe we could have found a better word? Connection? The problem is getting people together. To get the people in the conflict to connect in the physical, reality realm. I really like the image of the friendship pendants coming together. Crown: Knight of Swords, Without falsehood or deceit My ideal, what I would like is if the connection is based on truth and unemotional facts. (Deceit is spelled wrong on the card.) Beneath: Moon, From the moon, knowledge For a long time, and now, the conflict has been based on emotion and maybe illusion. At least we get knowledge of how the opposition is thinking and feeling? I like the combination of the luna moth and crab. Behind: Ace of Swords, The power of intellect and clarity But farther in the past, people at least pretended that they cared about the truth and facts. So the past and the ideal are aligned. What about the future? Before: Strength, A hard and bold voyage or enterprise Here’s another sword. To win the conflict, for everyone’s benefit, we have to wield the sword of truth with strength and boldness. We can’t give in to the illusions of moon. Usually the sword goes with Justice instead of Strength, so this might be a subtle nod to the Justice-Strength switch. Or maybe it’s just a cool lion illustration . . . I read this as very general, and as more of a mundane reading, because the first card is the World. I’ll think about if it is specifically aimed at me personally. Edited June 27, 2023 by Rachelcat
Rachelcat Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Oh, I posted it here instead of in my journal. I need to take a break! But I hope you enjoy it anyway . . .
Wyrdkiss Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 (edited) Good morning. Two cards pulled today. The bottom is what I must know about my inner world, and the top my outer (specifically work). Judgement and the Sun Despite the seemingly negative images, both cards have a positive meaning in the free pdf guidebook for this pack. This is doubly true for the sun, despite it having to watch over the two characters which desire to harm one another, assuring they are behaving themselves. The Judgement card can have some negative qualities, but being in the Internal World position I attribute the pull to a series of decisions I am making, mostly personal, to impact and benefit the outer world I exist in and navigate through. To quote E. Tolle, "Primary reality is within, secondary reality is without." I'm torn on this deck. I enjoy the old world feel and the unique art, but I feel I have to work around the negative images to embrace the positive meanings in the book. This is especially true of the court carts, but also these two are a good example as well. What do you think? Would you find these images distracting? Mirthful? Not an issue? Do you find most of the definitions / quotes on the cards are fairly well written? Well, they're a little variable. Some are profound or interesting sayings. But others are more like keywords, a simple explanation, like Strength, "A hard and bold voyage or enterprise," or 3 of Wands "appearing together on the sea, a sign of good luck." I like them, but you're not going to get a wise proverb for each card, if that makes sense.

I have Trionfi della Luna, Testo Italiano (no illustrations in the minors). Yes, these images can disturb me, depending on my mood, but I've always figured that's what they're supposed to do. 👻 When my reaction is negative to an image in this deck, I like to ruminate on the cause. For instance, looking at that Sun card in your post this morning, I felt nauseous and a little frightened. That reaction has never happened before. However, when I thought about it, I had to acknowledge that I've been having gall bladder pains for a few weeks and dreading looking into it. Maybe this Sun image is telling me that I need to make an appointment today, and since it's the Sun, everything will be all right. I give the deck 5 stars, but I don't use it every day. Thank you for sharing your reading.
Nemia Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 (edited) Right now I'm so busy that I can really only do my tried-and-trusted Planetary Week readings, and I've been doing so consistently for the last months. The readings are in my journal, Keeping the Time with Tarot, and even if I don't post in the Deck of the Weeks groups, I'm always staying on top of my weekly readings. They give me just a little overview and I know what's happening in my life right now. This week, it's the Tarot of Enchanted Dreams that reflects the energies of my week and its main topics. Saturday, ruled by Saturn: Obstacles and Blockades: Page of Wands Sunday, ruled by the Sun: Inspiration and Goals: High Priestess Monday, ruled by the Moon: Dreams and Fears: Page of Pentacles Tuesday, ruled by Mars: Conflicts and Challenges: Five of Cups Wednesday, ruled by Mercury: Interactions and Change: Empress Thursday, ruled by Jupiter: Power and Influences: Nine of Swords Friday, ruled by Venus: Love and Attraction: Star The cards in this spread always have a double function. Let's say today's Empress gives me a hint as to the main energies of my day, and indeed, it was an Empressian kind of day. I gave a lot of myself, showed patience and empathy, and nurtured others without neglecting myself. I was a powerful Empress, not a selfless martyr. The Empress also tells me that this week, my Interactions with others are under the sign of the Empress: I'll be giving to others from a point of strength and because I wanot to, not because I have to. I'll also relate to Change like the Empress, i.e., it's not on the top of my list, and there won't be big changes. Thus, I get a lot of insight from only seven card, and what I like most: it's a microcosmos-macrocosmos thing. I give each weekday its planetary character and see how this planet's main themes and characteristics play out in this relatively small segment of time, the week. all in all, great fun and I can recommend it. To go further down the rabbit hole, here is the conclusion of a free-form stream of consciousness reading this evening. A series of challenging cards ended with the rather intense but slightly positive Major Arcana Death card. I softened the entire experienced with a pull from the Wisdom of The Oracle. I enjoyed the juxtaposition.
