Aaaaaaaaand.... what do you wipe your fanning powder with?

I don't wipe it. I put the cards and a pinch of powder in a paper bag and shake it all up. Then I take the cards out and riffle shuffle a few times and they're good to go.
All you need is a pinch of powder, don't overdo.

Anyone tried the Tattoo Tarot (Ink & Intuition)? I’ve got a bit of a pull to it just now but not sure if I’m just being greedy. Any drawbacks?

@Flaxen pinging you as it’s a pip deck!

Thanks all!

Well, I have no idea about your greed; I thought that was my province. Most people seem to love it. That always puts me off. I do recall being hugely disappointed when it arrived, and I haven't used it except to look at. I THINK I recall the card stock being very hefty indeed; I always hate that. I can't look till Friday.... but I'd say - buy something else. I suggest chocolate covered coffee beans - but that's possibly because i am eating them right now... I am certain sure I like them better than this deck, though.

Then again - I don't much like tarot tats, to be honest.

@Albadawn I will say that I am seriously unimpressed by the artwork. They add a swirl and a couple of leafs and call it tattoo art... it just looks like a modern comic book rendering of the tdM to me. And not a very clever one either.

Look at the couple with their extremely short limbs... and what’s up with that swirly cloud behind them? Did they have beans for dinner? (And the positioning - on each side, just like with the two stars... very imaginative 😒)

Now, the Death card.. so underwhelming. We might have at least expected to see a tattoo on the reapers ass! But no, he’s jolly and all wrapped up in a Christmas-y red ribbon. And next to him is what looks like the star of Bethlehem. I dare not speculate who those two victims are...Its like the tattoo nightmare before Christmas!

Why not just purchase some tarot-like rub on tattoos, put them on your butt and then tell people where to look if they want their futures told 😎

Guys, I'm back here... and I don't dance and smile, I'm afraid 🤪

The Daniloff Lenormand began like a crush, really; but I'm wondering if it wasn't because I drank a bit too much champagne lately or something.

Well, the art isn't bad, but it is an expensive deck too for a Lenormand and the cardstock is just standard (300 gm), okay standard good, but not premium.

And more I see cards more I find it wonky. A park in front of the House, a chicken and a cage on the Birds card, a sort of whale/monster instead of fishes on the Fish card, and ships everywhere (on the Ship card, of course, but on the Fish card, on the Anchor card, on the Stars card...stop it! no more ships!!).

And 3 keys on the Key card! More deviant, guys: on the Letter card, the letter is brought by a bird... oops... I know it's hard... 😖

And I just saw the Dog card today: it is a hound dog with his tongue out in an unfriendly way. I feel exhausted! Quick a scarf to put it inside and burn it in the fireplace like a heretic item!!!

Clearly you were drunk. This deck is not really a lenormand. There is so much going on in each card - way TOO much. And it doesn’t make sense. Why is there a dragon on the Ring card? I think it will compromise your abilities and make you a worse reader, so I would absolutely NOT risk it. And if you buy it then our de-enable thread will end with a big fail for 2019. Do you not care at all about the reputation of us De-enablers?!

Ummm...maybe those aren't stars.

Look at them. Take as long as you need.

That Lenormand is pervy, too.
The guy doing the whipping has welts on his back. These two are taking turns:

Are Lenormands becoming synonymous with PORN ?

Yes. Agreed. Lots of perviness going on. BUT will that de-enable people or not?! You know, lots of people love whips, whipping and stars that ain’t stars 🤣

Perhaps we should moralize them a bit?

Here, a bit of Buddhist wisdom:

“One ought to consider that seeking more than one needs is a source of suffering and torment for oneself and a source of trouble to other people all over the world” (Buddhadasa Bhikkhu)

So. Do you really need one more deck?!! @Decan

No thank you 🤣

Otherwise, since I didn't see (for now) something erotic "or more" with Lenormand, I'm sure at Kickstater there will be someone in the future who will do it!

And to stay in that beautiful energy that pertains this thread, lets me talk about... what is its name again?

AH Yes! "The Nameless One" great title because it summarizes about everything this one has to offer: Nothing!

Firstly, you need to think Dark for each of the cards and to draw something a bit gothic but also minimalist while you are watching on a loop the credits of Penny Dreadful for your inspiration. But think and draw sterile, and repeat, repeat again the same! And that is, the Nameless One is born.

Oh! I forgot the most important!

Draw a circle and put in it some lines, the weirdest the better, and there is nothing to understand in them anyway so do what you want, and  plaster that on each of the cards in white, like that it's very discreet and will give some sort of unintelligible style that will make your deck so unique! 🤪

Now that is, you have the Nameless one (and about $118,000 in your pocket too otherwise)

Well, it seems that if you put a circle around your doodles then they turn into sigils. Money sigils.

I for sure don't have time to work with another deck, but Hidden Waters Tarot.... I want it. Help?

It's always a pleasure if I can help 🙂

For this one I will be just 100% honest with you because I don't have it (and didn't know it too), so I googled to discover "this thing".

Well, where to start? And I realized too that "where to start" would be a good question to ask yourself in an actual reading with this deck! It's not just "vague", there is just no symbolism at all, just colored splashed like children do at the nursery school.

You put at random some colors directly from the tube of paint and then you fold the paper in two to have an effect. This could remind insects, flowers or anything else, it could be everything actually, but is nothing of course! This deck could become an Avenue to project your own personal emotions on a situation, but this not reading cards.

Otherwise it's nonsensical to name a card the Magician or the Two of cups and to illustrate them with splashes.

Therefore there is the question "where to start?" but another one "what will be the result of a reading?". From nothing your performance could be just near zero... and you want to pay for that!? Please...

Let me know if you feel better 😈

Seriously, it is just a bit of psychological art. You might as well make your own inkblots. 🙂

Posted (edited)

This description says it all:

The Hidden Waters Tarot delves into the subconscious with 78 cards based upon the Rorschach inkblot test. Each card has a vibrant, abstract image allowing for individual interpretation, with no right or wrong answer.

No right or wrong answer. Well - then what's the point ? If you think the answer you think you got doesn't fit - change it; it won't have been wrong ! Pour some coloured inks into your bath tub and read that.

And add to that - from her own website:

Is there a booklet/book that comes with it?

No there is not. Since this is an intuitive tarot deck, I felt there was no need for one. It's purpose it to let you explore your own intuition. Should you wish to delve deeper into the traditional meanings of the Tarot, I advise consulting the traditional Rider-Waite Tarot traditional meanings.

Well - use a Rider Waite deck then, no ? Rather cheaper.

I actually did that with another deck that I wanted XD It was a pretty watercolour oracle. Granted I didn't have watercolour paper or paints... but I did manage to make myself a close proximity, and it was free

@Decan and @gregory you are both 100% right. My love of minimalism was clouding my better judgement. It would be prohibitively difficult to read with like a tarot deck. I do read playing cards as well, but I'd imagine something similar in playing cards would be way cheaper.

Thanks guys! Consider me well and truly de-enabled ❤️

Need... De... Enabling... Help... Now!

I've discovered Oriens Tarot *wistful sigh* it's beautiful.... And the Treads of Fate Weavers Tarot *drool*... But my wallet can't handle forking out that much for either deck. Not that I even need a new deck. But they're sooo pretty and it doesn't help that my TrueBlack doesn't want to play right now...

Posted

EVERY TIME I go into my favourite tarot store in Toronto I see the Oriens.

Every time I think  - "hey, I want that".

Every time I take it out of the box and ruffle through the cards and look at how pretty it is.

Every time I think "but what the hell would I DO with it ?"

And I put it back on the shelf and the store owner laughs at me.

Again.

It is beautiful. And it is a deck that needs to be looked at and put back. I will never consider buying it. Till the next time I am....

Posted

@gregory that's what I was worried about. I keep thinking "but would I actually USE it?" I'm still unsure...
