I got started a little late, I started first today when my motivation suddenly appeared ☺️

As far as I know, I have not infringed any copyright. I've registered at Shutterstock and have used pictures @300 DPI from them.

"Important details must contain 0.5 inches from the pages": Wow, that's a lot... I don't think I have that margin now, but I can alter this if required.

But, please make comments if you have any. Does this look acceptable?

Looks great. Very celebratory.

I think you are VERY NEARLY OK, but I would add a little (or move the astrology symbols in and down a fraction) to make sure they are in the safe zone. And stretch the sand at the bottom a bit...

I can't find one showing the bleed to test it on just now...

Acceptable?????  I'll say!!!!  What a joyous card!  And you just put that together today??!!!??!!

Water contained, free, frozen, wild, splashing, still, and hidden in clouds!  The blues, the whites, the sunlight and the splash of red - glorious!

Fantastic work, @KaiNO

I'm not seeing your image.  Not sure if the problem is in my end or something else.  😞

Cool idea! However, I can tell just by looking at it that it doesn't comply with the printerstudio requirements. I think this is a really good opportunity for me to demonstrate the safe areas so I will make a mock card out of this and show you a preview.

Here you go! Pay attention to the red markings and adjust accordingly 😉

Preview.thumb.jpg.30a7c1232da9468ee6e466798cfb1fbd.jpg

I do also want to point out that if we were to upload an image like this one to printerstudio, in the hopes of it being fine, we would have them contact us and point out that our images do not comply. They would also, politely, explain that if we send in images that don't comply then its on us if something prints wrong. I know this from experience 😆 (the very first prototype deck I made had that issue but after they helped me I was able to fix it and it printed nicely!)

Your end. Definitely.

Thanks so much, guys! That's nice to hear 😃

I will relocate the elements in the upper corners. It's just layers - I've become a Master of GIMP today 😆

The red thing by the way, that perhaps is hard to see, since I lowered its opacity a bit, is a pomegranate.

I haven't uploaded the image to the forum yet, @geoxena, I've just put it on my own server, perhaps there are some internet obstacles from it to your location ☹️

OK, great. I'll also add those hundred words or so before I submit the card 😊

EDIT:

@Grandma: Yeah, I did this today. It doesn't matter how much time I have, I need a deadline fast approaching to get something done 😅

That's really well done, I do know you work well under pressure and you clearly are a fast learner! 🙂

That must be it because I could see Raggydoll's preview of it but still not your image.  Now that I've seen the preview, I can say I really really like it a lot! All you need to do is lower and move in the symbols in the top corners, or eliminate them altogether.  Frankly, I don't think you need them.  But anyway, great work!!!

Also @KaiNO I give you a huge gold star for having the format exactly right! That made my work so much easier!

I'd like to get some feedback on the Ace of Air. I'm looking at all 3 versions and I can no longer work out which one works (if any) or if I need to rework the lightning. Any ideas and suggestions and feedback very welcome!

Version 3 has the most colour but does it look like lightning? And is it too blue? I could play with the image to make it a much cooler blue... Does it look like lightning? I had no idea how to make lightning in Gimp so I had to follow a few tutorials. And wouldn't you know, my version of Gimp is different from the ones in the tutorials. 😀

Lovely! I like the third best, color wise. But the lightning is more obvious in the others. It’s the angle and those spread out ‘veins’ that do it. I’m not entirely sure what the dots in the last picture are, stars? It looks a bit like a map or a star sign. Maybe add some ‘veins’(no idea what to call them! 😆) and remove the dots. I think that would do it.

I like the third one best - it's electric, alive, as the source should be. I don't think it's too blue and I love the cerulean colour, although it may print up a slightly truer blue (tending away from the green/blue towards the purple/blue).

Edited to add that RaggyDoll and I were posting at the same time. Re. the lightning - I like the 'more than realistic' effect - I think it looks deliberate and exciting, although perhaps you need to check the bleed and safe area so no part of it gets lost.

I'm not sure how I would read or interpret this card. What is the bow and arrow representing?  Did you want the lightning to look like it's coming out of the point of the arrow?

That being said, I like the colors of the third version but the shape of the lightning in the second - though I think the lightning itself needs to be thicker, more angular, and bright white maybe with a teensy bit of yellow in it.

That's my 2 cents, I hope it's helpful.

Sometimes when you have a flash of light in front of your eyes you see those white dots... But yeah, they weren't planned and I think you're right about the missing veins. I'll attempt another pass and see how it goes. Thanks, Raggy! Much appreciated. :)

Thanks, Pen! That's interesting about the colour... I wonder if I need to tweak that somehow... I'll check into that!

I'm pretty sure I'm within the bleed area, but it might be a close thing with the lightning. I wanted the card to be quite stark but I didn't want the bow and arrow to be too small either. I might change the angle and see if that helps. :)

Yes, I like the intense blue!
But agree with Geoxena...more little crooks all through the lightning, like this:

You don't want it smooth and flow-y, go for crackly.

Thanks, Geoxena! The bow and arrow is what happens when you have that bolt from the blue and suddeny everything becomes clear and you know where to focus and set your sights. The clarity that comes with that flash. And you can start to take aim, although the arrow is nowhere near the target, it's the start of its trajectory. It has a focus now.

Yes, thanks, Geoxena. I appreciate your input. :) The lightning definitely needs to be reworked. 🌩️

Wow - that's a beautiful lightning image! OK, I'll give it a go. There's no real control of the shape of the lightning with the tutorials I was following, so I'm going to try and create lightning in Paint and then re-work it in Gimp and see if that works. Thanks, Katrinka!

The third. It's alive in a way that the other two aren't.

Thank you, Gregory! I've been playing with drawing lightning into the Gimp file using Paint and this is what I got:

I think it is more obvious that it’s lightning now!
