Hi everyone! This is our discussion thread for this year's Sacred Days of Midsummer reading 🌞 Chat away here about decks you're considering for the reading, thoughts on how to approach a 12 day reading, anything you're hoping to get out of this years reading, anything that's come up for you since the Sacred Days of Yule, other sacred practices for this time of year...anything you're thinking about!

Be sure to create your reading post over in the Lunar & Sabbat Group Readings subforum as well 💛Our reading begins June 14th!

As always, I want to mention here that Southern Hemisphere folks are most welcome to join this reading, though it will be the Winter Solstice for you. Note the spread position for the Solstice day has an option for the Southern Hemisphere! And if you'd like to make any other changes feel free to do so. It's always lovely to gain perspective from sharing with folks with are on the other side of the Wheel 💛

Well I thought I might have a few more decks to choose from this year (looking at you, Bonestone & Earthflesh and Blood Moon Tarot decks...still waiting...) so I think I'm mostly considering from the same pool of decks as last year! I'm leaning toward using the Anieth Nature Tarot, which I used last year along with the Soulflower Oracle, pulling 2 cards each day. That was actually a really wonderful experience, bringing together messages from the two cards each day, but I think I'm going to go back to focusing on one deck this year. So yes, I'm thinking the Anieth, although the Celtic Wisdom and the Prisma Visions are also in the running for me. And I do have one new tarot deck since last year that I might consider as well- The Spacious Tarot which I've had for a few months and have been loving! Really curious to see what decks people choose this year- I always love that! ❤️

Decks for consideration:

Magical Dogs, Inversion Tarot (in a tin), The Golden Girls Tarot

Beyond Lemuria Oracle Cards, Field Guide to Garden Dragons, Oracle-X

I will reach my 50th birthday during this time, so the Golden Girls really has me pulling for it as a tarot.

The Golden Girls sounds like a really fun deck to use for this @legendaryelement. Sounds perfect for a birthday celebration.

I haven’t decided on a deck yet. It will probably be one of these: Quareia, Spirit Keeper’s, Tarot of the Sidhe or the Druid tarot. Half tempted to try the Stolen Child but it’s quite new to me and not sure how it will read. The Arboridium May be used as a supporting oracle.

These are such fun deck choices! The Golden Girls does sound perfect for your birthday 😊 Looking forward to see what you decide!

Flaxen, I have the EXACT same issue with the Stolen Child! I was wondering if I should consider it, and it seems like it would be wonderful for this reading in a lot of ways, but not having really worked with it yet it makes me nervous...this is a very important reading for me and I don't want to find I've chosen a deck I can't connect with deeply. I may try working with it over the next couple of weeks before the reading and see how that goes.

Have you managed to work with it at all? I’m thinking of using it anyway - steep learning curve! I’m experiencing a very strong pull towards it and it seems just right for Midsummer.

Sigh, alas I have not! I've really been reaching for the comfort decks recently, one I already have a strong bond with. I'm glad you posted this though- you've encouraged me and I am going to read with this deck today!! Will let you know how it goes 😊

And I think if this deck is calling you for this reading you should go for it! There's a reason it's calling you I'm sure 💗 I think I did that a couple of years ago with the Star Tarot- it was new to me and I decided to work with it for Sacred Days of Yule ❤️

Hi, I'm going to join you all, if that's ok?! 😊 I'm really excited!! I've did this reading before, possibly two years in a row 🤔 and I've loved it. I think one year I did it for a friend as well.

Anyway, I'm glad I was recently reminded of this forum and this reading. 🙌

I'm thinking of using Playful Hearts, or The Muse. They're both really joyful and colourful and seem perfect for this time of year. The only thing is that I haven't used them much. So if I decide on comfort, I think it'll be my old fave, Tarot of the Hidden Realm.

I also have a chakra oracle on the way to me - Chakra Mindset. So maybe I'll join @RavenOfSummer and @Flaxen and pull two cards for each day 🤔

What an interesting list of decks you're all considering!! I can't wait to find out what you go with! @legendaryelement The Golden Girls does seem perfect!!

nearly missed it but just caught it in time 🙂 I am not the best reader at the moment with everything going on but think this might be a gentle way to come back into it and do enjoy it every year 🌞

thanks for hosting the circle again @RavenOfSummer ❤️

I really enjoyed working with the two decks last year, @Luxa 😊 It was also actually nice that it took me more time to write up my reading each day since it was two cards each day- and I liked that because I wanted to use the reading to set aside sacred time, so I thought spending more time on it each day actually brought me more deeply into that space.

Still going back and forth a bit on what I will do this year!

I did some playing around with a new graphic for our spread layout- what do you all think?

The graphic looks great @RavenOfSummer, much more vivid! 🌞😍

I looked up Stolen Child tarot and it's absolutely gorgeous!! 😍 So I'm crossing my fingers somebody uses it! 😄 I'd be tempted to get it, but I'm really trying to avoid indie decks from American, just because I'm fed up paying the price of the deck again in custom fees 😨

Anyway, my chakra deck arrived, I love it, so I think I'll use it. I'm now considering pairing it with Herbcrafter's, which I've loved since I got it. Decisions decisions... 😄🌞

@RavenOfSummer I love that you're using the reading as sacred time! That's definitely what I'm planning as well. I especially appreciate all the goddess connections in the reading, and I'm working on my own goddess devotions, so this reading will fit in nicely. 😊

That sounds like a lovely combo! I just looked up the Chakra Mindset cards- what a beautiful deck. And I'm glad you appreciate the goddess connections- I love bringing goddess energy into things wherever I can!

After a bit more browsing through my collection of oracles, etc I am going to use one of the Dixit (game) card sets, paired with The Golden Girls Tarot:

That looks like a great pairing @legendaryelement I've just had a look and The Golden Girls Tarot is so fun and bright! And funny - that death card! 😄 I'm looking for to seeing it in use. 😍

Hi and thanks @RavenOfSummer for hosting again..It's so long since I did one of these! I may have tried last year, I'm not sure 😂 I haven't done much more than occasional daily draws for a long, long while, so this will be great for getting a regular practice going again, and will hopefully get me back into forum life, which I have missed 💗

Good to see you again @CharlotteK:classic_smile:

I went for The Stolen Child tarot and The Druid tarot in the end. The latter is actually more of an oracle based on the myths and gods/goddesses of Celtic Britain. They complement each well.

Happy Sacred Days, everyone! 💛

I wanted to share this poem I wrote the first time I hosted this reading some years back:

There is no time to waste.
The Solstice is coming.
Go out under the sun, let it ripen you with the strawberries.
Seek the healing herbs that grow strong in its light.
Touch your hands to the trees that call us to the season.
The Solstice is coming-
the days are long and the nights are filled with power.
Let yourself be warmed.
Shed layers, listen to the songs of the birds,
walk in the resonance of wild leaves.
Greet your own being under the sun
and know possibility.
The Solstice is coming.
Now is the time to blossom.

I hope everyone has a wonderful beginning of their Sacred Days 🌞 I'll plan to share a couple of other poems here over the course of the days- and if you feel called to do so please share anything that's inspiring you at this time!

Lovely poem! 💗

I tried to find my Wildwood yesterday, and realised it's in a box in the spare room that is hard to get to. So I've switched to the Celtic Tarot by Kristoffer Hughes.

This is a deck I have had for ages, but not really used. The card stock is pretty awful, some of Llewellyn's worst. Not quite as bad as the cardboardy coaster stuff, but that horrible combination of thin and flimsy. I know the creator himself was dismayed by the quality of the cards, especially as it comes in one of those smart magnetic boxes with a really good, full colour book. One positive though is that it is borderless, which means any chipping isn't as obvious as it could be.

Am happy with the switch and looking forward to digging in 🙂

Ooh @CharlotteK, I just saw a wonderful online talk by Kristoffer Hughes a few days ago! His work is wonderful. I'm glad you found your deck for the reading!
