Lovely poem @RavenOfSummer

It’s so interesting to see the variety of decks being used for this reading. I love to read along with other people’s - so often there is a message there that is pertinent to me too.

Saying a quick hello!

I chose the Memories expansion set of the Dixit cards, but 84 is a bit unwieldy to shuffle ... so I flipped through grabbing the ones that snagged a level of attention (for positive or negative feeling) until I had a set of 44. Each day, I read the description & choose a keyword to give me the number of cards to “count through” for selection.

With the Golden Girls Tarot, I shuffled the deck and it “stuck” 4 times on the fourth riffle, so afterward I laid out the entire deck in 6 piles. The 4th is the one I selected for my readings. Using “Midsummer” to count through & remove a card brought me to the Five of Wands ~ the gals facing off at the bowling alley! LOL

Oh my goodness, they do look so good @joy 😍 my strawberry plants are still tiny, I'm hopefully for a nice harvest like that!! 🤞😄

I'm so enjoying everyone's readings so far! And yes, @Flaxen I think we can find our own messages within a group reading like this! I wanted to share with you Blodeuwedd from the Mists of Avalon oracle. It arrived on Sunday and I was just looking through it before I read your post. I'm also reading Mists of Avalon right now, and of course in a 1000 odd page book, I was reading one of the pages she was mentioned in. So I was thrilled to see you drew her! 🤩 I love her wild nature!

@CharlotteK I loved your reading today, with the two of pentacles. Maybe you control the storm? With your guardian wolf setting the boundaries for stag and oxen? 🤔 I bet you do! 😄 Though I definitely understand getting lost in the storms of temper tantrums or arguments! 😂  I hope that's ok, commenting on your reading like that? I loved it, and it touched me! And I'm commenting in solidarity from one mother to another! 💞

That sounds like a great idea for getting to the right number of cards, @legendaryelement. Haha, I had to look up that 5 of Wands card! Such a fantastic deck 😊

I reeeeally need to read this book! It's been on my list forever! Our libraries are just opening up again so perhaps I'll go and pick it up there.

@Luxa yeah they do look very good! I live on a rock in the sea and strawberries or aby berries do not grow here. I really miss the berries .

I read the book Mists of Avalon a looong time ago. Loved it, it is so good!

@Luxa, I loved The Mists of Avalon and how amazing that you were reading about her!

How are you finding the oracle?

Oh it can be very hard can't it? Thank you so much for your additional.insights. I like the guardian wolf. I hadn't thought of that, but she helps me to journey to meet guides, so you could be right there! I am.hoping today isn't so stormy. Perhaps I should journey specifically for advice about the arguments. As for controlling the storm, I try at least not to add to it!

The Mists of Avalon... I loved that book.  A miniseries of it came out almost 20 years ago, with Julianna Margulies, Joan Allen, and Angelica Huston - they did a wonderful job!  I have it downloaded on one of my computers, but it's in storage.  The soundtrack features Loreena McKennit and the costumes are gorgeous.  The scenes of Julianna Margulies riding horseback with her velvet cloak flowing behind her were so beautiful... mmm-mmm, I remember it made me want to travel back in time and dress like that.  See it if you can!

I took some pictures of the borage in our communal herb garden this morning and thought I would share one here- @Luxa especially I thought might like to see!

The images are beautiful @Flaxen and I like that it's kind of directional, with a keyword on the top, bottom and both sides. I haven't really played with it yet though, I need to finish the book first! 😄 I got it because it was on offer on Amazon UK and such s great price! I know I'll enjoy it when I'm ready to play with it though 😊

Thank you so much @RavenOfSummer! They're such beautiful flowers, aren't they? 😍 And according to the email Susan Weed (herbalist) sent me today, they're really good for you to eat! If you can bear to pluck them! 😂 I will definitely grow them next year. Maybe it's not too late for this year! 🤔😄

Oh, I know Susun! Took some workshops with her.  The herbalist I studied with was a friend of hers and we visited her farm in upstate NY. I love Susun's books and she is very responsive to emails.  I sent her a suggestion for her book Menopausal Years and was delighted to discover that she added a whole chapter on my suggestion (thyroid issues) when she revised it.  AND she sent me a free copy of the new version when it came out, which I didn't expect.  She's very warm and funny in person and loves to sing.  Gosh, that was the early- and mid-90s.  I've been away from that world a long time.  Unfortunately, I've pretty much forgotten most of what I learned about herbs back then.  You can't go wrong writing to her; she's got amazing encyclopedic knowledge of the plant world!

Sorry to derail the thread!

The borage is looking so cute! We have a gardening method here where you make liquid fertiliser with it! Although it's a wonderful soil conditioner as a living plant. You can use any of the green leafy plants which are high in potash like nettles, comfrey (popular and very common here) or borage and you put it in a plastic container (like a bucket) of water and leave it for ages. Be warned it absolutely stinks, it has the worst smell as it turns into liquid fertiliser and you need a lid to contain it! My Father is making nettle liquid fertiliser this year and omg the smell is like nothing else when you take the lid off. The liquid it produces is very high in nitrogen and potassium and is very strong and needs to be diluted a lot to use. It's a wonderful resource though and it's free to make!

The borage flowers are so cute! ❤️ I have noticed that natural skincare brands here often use borage as a filler to bulk up moisturisers and other creams 🙂

@DanielJUK, thank you for sharing this information about borage! I had been aware of nettle fertilizer but didn't realize people use borage similarly! That is very cool. I love seeing the flowers each day- I wish I knew who in our community garden planted it so I could thank them!

Hey everyone, I've had a hectic couple of days, so I've just updated my post with my cards and a pic, until I get a chance to write them up. Hopefully tomorrow! 🤞 And I'll catch up on everyone else too! 😍

@geoxena that's so cool you've met Susan Weed! She's my new heroine! 😄 I read Healing Wise in a book club last year and loved it!! Now I want all her books, and I follow her on YouTube and her podcast! 😍

@DanielJUK I didn't know that about borage either! Though I knew about nettle and comfrey. Thank you! 🙏

@RavenOfSummer another beautiful poem, thank you!! 🙏💚

No worries Luxa- that happens. I'm glad you're still getting a chance to draw your cards!

Same here, I am sometimes behind with typing it up but as long as we find the time to draw the cards and take them in, adding to the thread and upload pics can wait 😉❤️

take your time, the sacred days are always a relaxed affair! I am a day behind but seem to catch up quite well. Will take a pic of the final spread when I have dealt all cards ❤️

The Summer Day by Mary Oliver

Who made the world?

Who made the swan, and the black bear?

Who made the grasshopper?

This grasshopper, I mean —

the one who has flung herself out of the grass,

the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,

who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down —

who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.

Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.

Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.

I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.

I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down

into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,

how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,

which is what I have been doing all day.

Tell me, what else should I have done?

Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?
