Tarot Talk & Technique

I have always used a simple sort of altar cloth or scarf to lay my cards and read them, but lately have been itching to get something larger and with more weight, and possibly with some card related imagery on them. Would also be great for instagram I admit! Do you have a special cloth/s on which you lay/spread your cards? Where did you get it from/How did you make it? I'd love to see pics of your spread cloths for inspiration!

So I've started the on-line course suggested, and feel very comfortable, I love learning something new. My cards come tomorrow, and I fancy the idea of a daily challenge, and reading. Did anyone else do a daily reading (one card) at the start, and take the full time suggested to learn the cards they picked? Did anyone get many repeats, and if so would you leave them out next time, or just carried on? Finally, did anyone keep a diary of the events please? Thanks all Rick. So i am about a month in to a break up with someone who I thought was my forever mate. He is fearful avoidant & we broke up because of his fear of marriage and children (I want both) I drew these cards last night to ask what he thinks and feels of me currently and our potential relationship in the future. Hi you guys, I use Rider Waite Tarot. I am REALLY unhappy with the current career path i have chosen (i am still in university, but internships showed me it was the wrong choice). I am looking for something new for ages now. I found a vocational training option that i believe would suit me very well. And i pulled one card. I asked if this was a good option. I pulled the three of wands reversed. I really want to know what to do. So that i can take active steps, applying etc!

I dearly home this is in the right place? Could someone explain, what the idea of all the various packs are please? Cat Tarot, crow tarot, and all the mountain of other packs. Are the symbols the same, with the same meaning, or are they just a fun thing (sorry not meaning to offend with that, just asking?) The older packs seem to have different symbols too, just wondering, looking learning. Thanks all. Rick.

What is the one card, that no matter the reading, you just have a hard time figuring out how it relates? I have a few, lol, but the biggest for me is the six of pentacles, RWS deck. Is it about gratitude? Giving and receiving? An imbalance? Ugh! interested to hear your thought. Apologies in advance if it’s in the wrong section 🙂

Just got the cards of the postman ( a new postman, now what could that mean, fresh start?) and I'm wondering what to do next? Look through them all with the book on their meaning, or just pick a few, and start with them. Or anything else people think might be important. Thanks all. Rick.

Hey, a friend of mine introduced me to tarot. I always liked occultism and gave a try and I liked it. She used to draw me her cards, but sometimes we spend a time without talking. Since that, sometimes I draw them from some random online websites. Can I take them as a real draw? I don't know how to interpret them at all so I just get some hints from what each card means. Oddly enough I am going through something rn and the drawing matched my present perfectly.

This is a bit of a silly question, but I'm curious to hear what you all do with decks that come in those gigantic kit boxes - like the Forest of Enchantment or the Everyday Witch. The boxes are beautiful, but man, they are too big (for me) to cart around, and they sadly don't come up with a smaller folding box inside. I put my decks in bags, but I'm paranoid they'll still get banged up if they're not in a box. What do you all do with them? Elastic? Lead box? Protection spells? 😆

What are some cards for you that typically signal upcoming communication (can be any type, such as text, call, etc.) I’ve seen the knights, magician, maybe even pages? I’ve also seen the ace of wands or swords but am curious to see what others think?

i asked my cards about a guy I was seeing that ended things 3 days ago if he would come back to me romantically. He was first unwilling to get into a relationship but then a few weeks ago confessed he was having feelings that were growing and he wanted me by my side. But he is going to college for 3 months which was a worry for both of us. He ended things saying he had to do it alone. I pulled first the 10 of cups then, 6 of cups. Any advice on what these mean together? Thanks

I recently opened up my copy of Yoshi Yoshitani's Tarot of the Divine - which has linen cardstock - and was horrified to find the cards were appallingly bowed. I've seen decks that are a bit bent before, but that's right out of the shrinkwrap, and never this severe. After a lot of digging, I came across some references (most clearly this review of the Divine deck) that talk about linen cardstock getting bowed in response to the wrong kind of air humidity. Does anyone know more about this? I haven't been able to find specifics, like what level of humidity is required to keep linen cardstock happy! I want to make sure this doesn't happen again, but …

I was wondering what favorite ways you have for mixing other systems in with Tarot (if that's your thing). For example, I've seen some people start a reading with 3 oracle cards to get the vibe of the situation then do the tarot reading (or sometimes in reverse). Then there's others who put down three Lenormand cards as the reading, then go deeper using Tarot. Then there's other specialty decks such as the Tea Leaf cards. Again, I've seen people read with the Tarot, then finish up with the Tea Leaf cards (these ones also have timing cards included so they could be used to clarify timing). Do you enjoy mixing systems and if so, what's your favorite way?

Hi! I'm a newbie in tarot reading. I have a question that's really important to me. Can you get incorrect answers? How and when does it happen? I tend to take "tarot answers" too seriously. That's why I get nervous whenever I try to read tarot cards for myself because I'm scared of negative answers.

I know this is going to be different for everyone, but I am genuinely curious about what other tarot readers experience when they are shuffling their decks. Do you find you approach shuffling differently for different readings or decks, or do you always do your shuffling the same way? Do you take into account the messages you receive before laying any cards or do you solely focus on the cards themselves? Share away.

What does tarot birth card, and what does that mean? My cards are justice and high priestess

This one seems to be debatable, I remember seeing someone said 6 months on the purple tarot forum. I'm guessing it depends on the situation and the question, how susceptible to change the situation is? Also, does it make sense to ask when something will happen? I've been generally avoiding it because it feels a bit too specific. Although I am aware that there are timing ties with the cards.

I asked if they would fall in love with me. I got the following: The Lovers, Six of Pentacles, Nine of Pentacles then I asked again hours later and got Ten of Cups, six of Wands, 9 of Cups. I'd take this as a yes, what do you think?

What techniques do you apply during a reading for another person, to remain present and objective in that reading, and ensure that your message isn’t influenced by any of your own personal bias or thoughts, that your message is the clearest message for that individual, for what THEY need to know, and not what you think they need to know?

So I wonder if anyone else experiences this, I have the general meanings of the tarot card meanings, and can apply that knowledge in my message. I have found though at times, and this can be a strange phenomenon if you’ve ever experienced it, that a story of sorts about the symbols or figures within the card will spring to mind about what that figure is about to do once it’s no longer stationary, like a cinematic that helps me know what message my cards are trying to give to the person I’m giving the reading too.
