Do you read cards almost instantly? Or do you have to sit and read the cards for a few moments until something/feelings come to you?

Hi. When interpreting the cards, most people seem to use the Rider Waite deck and lots of meanings and interpretations of individual cards on tarot websites seem to be derived from them as well. My question is, if we are using a different deck and they have some differences to the Rider Waite, how do we incorporate those differences with the general (Rider Waite) meaning of the cards when we're reading/ interpreting?

Hi all! I'm a new member here and a newbie to reading tarot as well 🙂 I have a "friend" who seems jealous of me and I did a reading on her asking what she's jealous of, of me. And I got interesting results. But I don't know how to interpret and link them all into a coherent story. Being a newbie, I only know simple meanings of each card so that makes things very difficult. Could any of you guys please help me on what these cards could mean? Thank you so much in advance!! Question I asked the cards: "What is [insert friend's name] jealous of when it comes to me?" Cards I got: King of Wands (clarified by The Moon, T…

Hello, I am still relatively new in tarot readings , but do truly enjoy them , and do feel like I connect to what the cards are telling me. In the past few months I have noticed (not that it's been hard to) , that I repeatedly am drawing The Judgment in my readings and always in an upright position, presented as me now or "What to do" type of a card. I do understand the basic- change seeking meaning of the card and see that there is a lesson to be learned. But wanted to hear your visions and thoughts about that. Thank you.

I’m finding that I’m having difficulty connecting meaning to the following cards: 3 of Coins 7 of Coins and the Pages and Knight court cards Anyone else have issues with these? I feel like when I see them that it just has a neutral feel, or a very limited understanding. For example, all I can think of with 3 of Coins is teamwork. Reversed, I think only of projects not working out. 7 of Coins I see waiting. Reversed I see spoilage. And the pages and knights all might as well be the same cards because they’re like a blur to me.

I’m keen to hear any views on predictive tarot and how you thinks that gels (or doesn’t) with the concept of free will. non-judgemental and non-critiqued (which is crazy hard for a philosopher) … just really interested in what position readers hold. thanks.

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this please, as a newbie trying to figure all this out! I am learning with the RWS. I really like the imagery and feel it's assisting with my learning. I have a few other Tarot decks which I bought predominantly for the imagery, but want to build my relationship with the RWS first and feel more comfortable with the card meanings before branching out. Out of curiosity though, I compared The Fool card from the RWS with the one from the Starchild Tarot (Akashic version), which is called 'Starseed' in that deck. Whilst the meanings from the Starchild LWB are similar as it's based on the RWS system, from ju…

Does anybody here have a mentor/s who actually took you under their wings and taught you face-to-face all that they know about the Tarot? It can be an old relative or your parents even, if the gift has been passed down your family line for generations. It can be a close friend who happened to be an expert, or a Tarot luminary who saw your promise. It can be gratis or it may involve an exchange of resources, as long as you had a close and sincere bond with them while you were under their tutelage.

Hi everyone I’m new here. I always have trouble reading for myself. I rarely get all major arcana in such a small spread but this time in a 4 card pull I received all major arcana which means there’s some big message in it…I think here’s my dilemma: Recently had a break up with a “male friend” We both established that there are definitely feelings but there’s just a small personality clash. I asked what the outcome of the split will be and pulled The chariot, the lovers, the hierophant, and Justice. I also asked why the split happened in the first place and pulled six of wands, hermit, queen of cups, and the star. The deck used was the modern witch tarot …

Hello! After reading a thread on here about daily readings, I decided it may be good for me to get back into it 🙂 The strange thing is that I pulled three cards, and all three were Major Arcana (The Magician- The Tower- The Hanged Man). Have you had experience pulling all Major Arcana Cards for a reading? If so, did anything significant happen that day?

I was hanging out with a male friend of mine, when he took my my deck and started shuffling, not intending to get a reading or anything. He opened the deck and it showed the Lovers. We have a complex history. There is mutual attraction, but because of the current situation we can't do anything about it. Sometimes it feels quite difficult. So many things resonate with our situation, it's quite eery. Even down to our names (localized names for Adam and Eve). What do you think it means? Does it mean anything? I've been trying to figure it out, and the furthest I can get is that we have to make a choice. It's a very superficial interpretati…

How many of you have engaged with a card's depth by doing an intentional visual mediation with the archetypes and symbolism? I believe I started with a template from Mary K. Greer, but soon adapted for my own needs. I have done so with several cards, all from the Thoth, which yielded some fascinating insights. Not always a revelation, but worth the effort. It's been ages, however, since I've traversed that territory. Thinking of venturing into it again. And you?

I originally did quintessence by only adding minor arcana (excluding courts) and now I add all including courts (I don't use reversals but if I did I would subtract their values) and I was just wondering 1: how those of you that use a quint add up the value and 2: do you view it as an overall outcome, theme, hidden factor, etc? Side note: I've heard some people add the bottom card of the deck's value, why?

I noticed in one of the other threads some of the respondents mentioned tarot decks that don't have reversals by design. That's very interesting. I've never heard of tarot decks being set up that way. I think Robbin Wood was mentioned, but what are some other decks like this?

A friend of mine, who has recently started to learn the Tarot, asked me if it's possible to get a timing for a prediction using the Tarot cards. I told her that, personally, I never did it, and that usually the spread itself gives me the timeframe of a reading... I.e., whether it's valid for the next month, six months, or the next few days. With the spreads I use most, I already have an idea of how much time they usually cover, but I can't pinpoint dates, and everything also depends on how volatile a situation is. I got curious though - do any of you use a timing method with the Tarot? Or have you ever tried? How was it in terms of accuracy? …

I have been doing Tarot on and off for a few years now but recently I've decided to get more serious with my Tarot studies. Reversals have always been troublesome for me to interpret so I've decided that I will start small and work my way up to them in due time. I decided to do a reading where any reversals would be ignored concerning "What is the status of my love life?". I've had some ups and downs being alone, and I would like to know what I can do to cultivate a relationship for myself. I've used a three card spread where: 1 -> Current Status or State 2 -> What is blocking me from getting into a relationship 3 -> What can I do to bring love into my life. The …

Anyone want to talk ethics? [surprising it a topic that causes many to start gnawing there own limbs off] I’ve been looking at different codes-of-ethics on tarot sites and there appears to be very little consistency (or indeed actual ethics) 😯 I’m a philosopher and have an interest in professional ethics so keen to hear any forum members opinion on the below (or other) ethical topics. * most so-called codes-of-ethics are just a list of codified rules to follow … not ethics * there is no such thing as ‘personal ethics’ as this would be divorced of any external method of judgement and incapable of assessing right/wrong … it’s just pure su…

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn't find any other sections it seemed to fit into. So I'm finding most of my readings to be inaccurate. Many of them relate to things that have yet to pass as they refer to them as a bigger picture, but when I'm doing readings about my day or week or mind/body state they don't happen or aren't accurate. I've heard people say that the cards never lie and if the reading seems inaccurate it's because you aren't looking at the message the cards are sending. But if, for instance, I ask what my day will be like and I get 2 of cups it suggests romance or budding friendships and nothing like that happens…

I'm not sure where to ask this but I ran across this website and if you scroll to the right on the colorful charts it says Numerology and Count of each major arcana for RWS and another chart for Thoth and others. https://tarotelements.com/major-arcana-correspondences/ Can anyone please explain their numerology and count? I thought numerology was literally the number on the card and when I've searched each cards numerology it comes up as the number on the card. So I don't understand this websites Numerology and Count. Thank you very much, Tarot Learner Lonely

I wonder how many people here take direction of a card imagine into consideration. For example if two court cards are next to each other but the people are facing away from each other rather than looking at each other, do you use this in your interpretation? Or do you rely solely on the position, e.g. past - there was someone like the Knight, future there will be someone like the Knight. The reason I ask is because it's the one thing that messes with me a little when it comes to decks where the person in the court card is facing front on - I feel like I might be lacking some information. For example, in the Knight of Wands pictured below, the Knight's facial e…

Hi everyone, I'm new here and pretty new to tarot as well (only a few weeks). I wanted to ask for some insight on a reading and it's going to be a bit of a long one as it's 2 interpretations of a spread so I hope some of you will stay with me! I watched this video on Youtube – just general reading obviously – but I felt the woman was way off with her interpretations of them and the question that was being asked. She has a lot of subscribers (and is obviously a lot more experienced than me), but based on the cards I really can't understand how she came to the conclusion she did and wanted to ask for other opinions. The question was, “Has they moved on? Do they…

Last year I read, in a popular page on Facebook, about a method of divination with the tarot to answer Yes / No questions (which I usually avoid). It was something like this: Cut the deck after shuffling into 4 equal stacks Draw from the top of each stack until you either: A.) Draw and Ace, or B.) Draw X number of cards. The # of aces you pull, between 0 and 4, influenced the answer. I do not remember when you are supposed to stop drawing ( X = ?) It would be fun to experiment with, but I cannot find the post. Has anyone definitively heard of this, and can you provide the possible missing details?
