As I learn more about Tarot it seems clear that a lot of the correspondences we use, Kabbalah, Astrology, Elemental, even Fool's Journey, are not there in the original decks. I think we don't have the cultural literacy to read the cards with the original meanings, though. Obviously the Visconti-Sforza Tarot would be meaningful as far as which card "trumps" another, even without being numbered, and the Sola Busca could have unique pictures that still spoke to people enough to understand why they were there. We don't have that. Do we go by intuition, which undoubtedly the first readers must have used in fortune telling, even if the symbols on the cards have chan…

Hey! I've been looking into buying a small bag (preferably velvet) or a small box that would fit a full deck for storage. I've explored the forum to search for a similar thread, but couldn't find one. This is the bag I am currently looking at: https://www.amazon.com/Navy-Velvet-Tarot-Paper-Mart/dp/B00GDPJMC8/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1545937685&sr=8-10&keywords=tarot+card+bag (Amazon is the only place I've looked on, as it's a site that is budget friendly and "trust worthy") I am curious to view any storage ideas for decks that anyone uses! Please leave links, pictures, descriptions, or ideas :)

Does anyone else practice readings using the news or other TV shows? I decided to get short clips of news from YouTube rather than the TV. The point of the exercise for me was to do a quick few card pull - whatever jumped out during shuffling, without meditating on the cards or question. I thought I'd give it a try as I need to practice but don't have time this week for in-depth reads. When I practice, it's usually career/relationships type readings, so I was blown away by the different real-life meanings I found right away in the cards. Also noticing different things - e.g. the Fool's tunic I thought just had flowers on it, but next to the High Priestess …

Looking for a further explanation on queen of cups, a question I posted earlier but am rephrasing. Does anyone have any distinction between the king and queen of cups that could perhaps go beyond describing the queen as soft and the king as strong and diplomatic. I’d like to stray from those connotations and find them insufficient to put it mildly. Any and all deeper interpretations are welcome! ✨🤠😻💃🏻💫

I asked my cards the question of how x feels towards me in a romantic sense. The person 'x' was a guy i used to see, we are in the same circles so see him often and was just curious as to how he truly feels towards me romantically. A psychic recently told me that he still has romantic feelings but buries them. We only broke up as he wasn't ready for a relationship, and has lots of his own issues especially with intimacy and commitment... basically he freaks out in romantic endeavours. When I asked the question, I got the Heirophant as the present crossed by the Fool. I was unsure as to what this means as they're both strong cards that are totally opposite. I …

I challenge anyone to give me a distinction between the king of cups and queen of cups without using sexist tropes to describe the queen of cups. i have scoured books and the internet to help me understand queen of cups and no explanation sits well with me. If we are going off of divine feminine characteristics, feminine is associated with receiving and masculine giving. So then why is it that everyone wants to assign this selfless emotional caretaker role like she only exists in service to others when the king of cups is just this self sufficient beacon of emotional intelligence. Who is she outside of the emotional labor she provides? I even saw one person say the queen …

My tarot journey started with the gifting of a single deck from my closet friend. She ultimately gifted me my second deck and I felt compelled to use both for the first reading I did after receiving the second deck. Is it normal to feel sure if one or two decks are correct for a particular reading? Sometimes, it feels absolutely wrong to use both decks and in others, completely necessary. I would like to expand beyond the decks I use but feel I'm still being prepared for other types of decks. Would I be biting off more than I could chew by just buying a new type of deck I've never used simply because I want to expand?

Today, I had a horrible experience with MPC (MakePlayingCards.Com). I had a bit of difficulties with the box template. They said they will help me out with it until they found out they couldn't help me out. But, said I should do it myself. I dislike this type of customer service. Because, I am a customer. And, I find it extremely rude for them saying that to me. I was never given any tutorials on how to work with the box template. It would be helpful if they provided such measures. I would never do business with this company again. I suggest everyone else avoid this company too. I've worked hard on designing every card that for my tarot deck. It was something to to be pro…

Now that I've found you guys in this forum, I have so many questions 😂 Here's the first one. Does anyone here use a 9 card box spread, like the Lenormand, but for tarot? How do you find it works for you using tarot, and what's your favourite way to use it? I've tried this out a few times and I feel it's an awesome alternative to the Celtic Cross and helps me get in more of a storytelling flow. Here's what I've used so far: Past Present Future (dreams/weighing on the mind) Past Present Future (reality/practical) - middle card being the central theme (I don't use a significator) Past Present Future (emotions/undercurrent) Would love to …

I got the borderless version of the US Games Pamela Centennial. I don't know why they did the backs with white borders. Wish they just would have been borderless. I like to "age" the sides with Antique Linen which makes the backs just so not match. Now, I thought of inking the backs, but of course the sides are papery and the backs have more of a finish, so that doesn't work. ANYONE aging the backs of their decks and how do you do it? I could use a marker, but I don't want to yellow or brown, that would look gross, just like aged. Thoughts? I am excited to get reall's Vintage Pamela because the backs LOOK aged and I'l…

I thought at first how it would based On buying tarot decks, and books like my fellow tarotacholics understand. Instead it is a worse addiction.. usually played for laughs in comedy shows like spencer kept following the 8 ball advice in icarley. I think of the old lady in the manitou horror movie coming for a card reading but that was for really in my mind entertainment and social interaction Here it is shared how consulted the tarot for everything overtime and how they moved away from it.

What are people's thoughts on card selection as a skill or talent? Is this something that people get better at over time as readers? Is it something different people are just naturally better at than others? Is it not a consideration to you at all? I don't see it mentioned much on this forum, everything is always about interpretation. The answer is always in front of you in the cards, you just have to understand it, is the message I see again and again. When reading cards: what makes those the right cards to interpret in the first place?

In this spread I asked what are his feelings towards me? So I drew 6 cards and used the Smith-Wait-tarot deck : King of swords clarified by the Queen of cups. Temperance clarified by Ace of cups And knight of swords clarified by 2 of cups My interpretation: King of swords and Queen of cups: this person is very logical with his feelings, keeps them inside/controls them towards me, which can most likely be Deep and full of warthm as clarified by the Queen of cups. Temperance and Ace of cups: wants a relationship that is balanced and stable with me, has romantic feelings towards me and wants a Union. Knight of swords and 2 of cups: wants to act on an impulse and co…

I have seen the expression "Waite type tarot deck", but I have never seen a definition. I would guess it's a 78-card non-pip deck, but is it stricter than that? Would the Mystical Cats Tarot or Transparent Tarot, for example, be Waite type? Does it need to have wands/swords/cups/pentacles and/or page/knight/queen/king? Do definitions need to match Waite's "Pictorial Key"? What general categories do you use to describe your Tarot decks?

When I started receiving the completed bond with tarot, it came by form of a feather. I had been cross watching readings to verify my own understanding. Then I saw a reading being performed and her feather kept taking my attention (it seemed perfectly framed in her camera view). I was sitting on my porch during this particular reading. And as I thought to myself, why a feather and why THAT exact one. As the thought breeched, I looked at my flower bed and saw this perfectly upright feather that seemingly propped itself for my eyes to take in. It blended with it's surroundings yet stuck out like a sore thumb. The same occurrence happened after receiv…

A friend told me he had a tarot card reading years ago at some county fair (early 1990’s) The reader told him(so he claims) that he will die at age 57. Now, in my experience (which isn’t a lot) I didn’t think readings actually tell one that specific of details...am I right? I want him to have another reading...& yet do I? (It’s been years since I’ve had a reading, so personally I’m way over due) any insight would be greatly appreciated thank you

Hello, TT&M! Today, a close friend of mine had messaged me that he had found a little shop with spirituality-related items in his city, and was surprised to see a decent assortment of Tarot and oracle decks on display there (decent for similar shops in that particular city, but still a very joyous occasion). Among these was a Circle of Life Tarot deck, the main quirk of which is it's circular cards (I've looked it up on the Internet and also found a similar deck, Daughters of the Moon). As I've previously taught him my approach to Tarot, my friend though that I would be interested to know about these decks, as the shape of the cards allows them to hav…

I enjoy reading for others. I did a lot of Lenormand readings on AT, I have done some here on TT and Me in the past. But I always just ask for feedback, not an exchange, because at 70, really there's not a question I want answered. How will my lab work come back? NOPE, don't really want to ask that. What part of my body will go first? Nah. It's not because I don't think there are MANY great readers here, it's because I know there are and just don't want the answer to a question I don't want to know. So if I open up Lenormand readings from time to time, and just ask for feedback, just wanted to share it's not because I don't t…

I am doing some renovations and had to clear my attic of all my sentimental items (not of any monetary value to anyone) that I have accumulated over years. I have to get rid of all items from attic as this space is now going to be used for something else. As I was going through all boxes to see what I still would like to keep I was going through a box and at the bottom I saw a picture. As I picked I found it to be a tarot card. With not much light it looked like devil and really freaked me out, but on closer look it was a Count from vampire tarot that is Equivalent to Emperor ). I am still shocked as I have no clue how it ended up there. All my decks are kept in a differ…

I came across many youtube videos where people modify their decks, trimming and edging them. I feel that with the trimming and edging the deck will get a different energy or people disturb deck's energy. Plus if trimming all cards borders out, they won't be exactly the same size as they were when you buy it, and ink on edges might smudging hands(?). What is your opinion about it? (I don't want to offend anybody, this is only my opinion :) ) Blessings to all :)

Hey, all. I've been interested in buying a Tarot Workbook to keep organized notes and to learn the cards more personally; I'd like to get some opinions on what others have purchased, or if you've just made your own and called it a day. im looking at getting the Labyrinthos Tarot Journal/Workbook because it's just so appealing to me. Gold on black. There are also some pretty ones on Amazon, but I'm just not drawn to their look the way the Labyrinthos one is. Looking forward to other's opinions and suggestions! https://labyrinthos.co/products/tarot-journal-and-workbook

Can someone explain to me as simply or as detailed as you choose the ideas surrounding these two, apparently opposite, energies? My brain has been tripping over this for while, and since I'm looking at magician cards at the moment, I was reminded. Are they opposite? Is it ever either/or, or is each never pure? What arrangement are those words actually trying to portray? Some of the problem might be the way words attract meanings and those meanings change over time. For example, receptive, recieiving, irrational, immaterial or without form... these just don't sit well with me because it's like I'm missing the real point. My culture thinks of those things a…
