I'm designing some patterns for tarot wallets/bags that I want to make available online. I've been looking around online to gather the average dimensions of different decks and have devised five basic sizes (mini/small/medium/large/extra large) around which I will design the patterns, but the one that I'm missing is deck thickness which is not always mentioned online, and I haven't collected enough decks to measure different ones myself. I know the average size for most is around one inch, but I'm wondering if I should provide extra wiggle room for thicker decks, compensating for different cardstocks, adding room for guide book, etc. Would anyone like to take the time to …

Long time no post from me, but that doesn't mean that I don't think about Tarot. On the contrary, I'm gearing up to make a full inventory of my collection very soon. In light of this - and also as a result of my recently discovered interest in puppet-making and puppet theatre - I'm turning my mind to the work of Elisabetta Cassari. Incidentally, Cassari had an interest in puppet theatre, as per this Manteia article https://www.arnellart.com/manteia/articles/ar01-cassari.htm, and made puppets (?). They also feature in her Tarot drawings. I gather she published three decks:`Solleone Tarot` (1983), `Gli Arcani di Elisabetta` (1986) and `Future Solleone Tarot` (1987). And she…

I was just reminded of an appearance of a Tarot deck in series 2, episode 2 (2013) of Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries; "Death Comes Knocking". The deck is shown a couple of times, but the best look at it comes towards the end of the show; At 58:48 in the above linked video is where Jack Robinson gets a reading from Mrs. Bolkonsky. It is an interesting looking deck and I'm wondering if anybody recognizes it?

To complete our survey of the current deck listings of the major Tarot houses, you may now peruse Llewellyn's 2018 Tarot Catalog here: https://issuu.com/llewellyn/docs/2018_consumer_tarot_catalog_hl Like the other catalogs, aside from their most current offerings it also contains a backlist of their pre-2018 decks that are still available for purchase. WARNING! Don't open the link unless you have your deck lust fully under control. ;)

Hello, I’m new to tarot and learning and absorbing as much as I can. I’ve just meditated on a question, asking my new deck (the New Mythic Tarot) if pursuing a greater spirituality/deeper understanding of tarot was the right thing. I pulled one card to see if I could interpret what the deck was telling me. I pulled The Hierophant and now I have goosebumps.

This is a Kickstarter for a full size, full color edition of the previously limited Majors-only Mushroom Tarot. I think the artist has done a wonderful job translating the RWS cards with the spirit of mushrooms for a deck that is simultaneously unique yet familiar. As of this posting, there are still early bird rewards available. I also love the way he’s incorporating wildlife into the court cards. I think this will end up being a very special deck. I’m not usually one for RWS clones, but this one just has a certain something and I’m excited to get my hands on it.

Ok, so I bought this deck pre-loved and I know nothing about it. The box has no information regarding manufacturer. The deck has 80 cards, and it has a historical style to it. Every card has titles in four languages, but I must admit that I am not 100% sure which languages they are (although I am perfectly able to discern which card is which anyhow). Some of the cards have a banner with some words on them, I will add pictures of that as well. So, please, any information you guys can give me (about anything really!) is welcome! I am thinking that this is a mass produced deck and that it perhaps is slavic? The images are really lovely and quite interesting. And I re…

I can't decide what I think about this one. Some of the cards shared seem lovely - I like the Sun card, and the idea of a new suit is a cool concept. Thoughts? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1103697320/the-five-element-magic-of-prophecy-tarot

I have moved a deck along, then some time passed and I thought I MIGHT want it back. Most of the time that passes, and I don't get it again, remembering why I gave it up in the first place. The ONE deck I don't regret getting again....The BOHEMIAN GOTHIC. Granted, I wasn't happy til I got the first edition (easier for me to shuffle and the one I liked the images best), but goes to show sometimes it is really good to give a deck a second chance, sometimes maybe not so much. Yes, part was I just didn't bond with all the images from other editions and the card stock from 2nd and 3rd eds weren't my fav, but PART of it was just finally bonding with the vibe of the de…

Hey there! I have been trying to find the website that is basically a large directory (with images) of tarot decks, going back a number of years. I could be wrong, but I think it was created by a guy who had a large collection and was selling some of them off, originally. But it is also useful for reference because it shows images and the dates that decks were published. I don't know why I can never remember who it was or how to find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? @gregory, I know you have posted links to it in the past, but I couldn't find those posts.

So I have some very serious decks, and some very whimsical ones, and some "light" and "dark" ones, and, and...the list goes on. Suffice it to say that every deck has its own unique vibration and personality. With that in mind: I asked THE EVERYDAY WITCH deck today about a possible move from Chicago to back home, in Bethlehem, PA (after 20+ years of being away!). My outcome card was the Five of Pentacles. Now we all know the "normal" interpretations for this card, but today it struck me as quite literal and even funny, right down to the fact that I just sent my Mom out to visit a house today that is new to the market. (There's an open house today and when I saw the pic …

I ordered the True Black Tarot many many months ago, and it just arrived!(this deck is why I'm not allowed to buy any other decks for a while) Kinda awed/feel a bit unworthy! I'll post pictures later, but I'm genuinely blown away by how beautiful this deck is, and the quality of the cardstock - they're *so thick* (supposedly 50% thicker than the average RW), and the use of foil and finish is really impressive. His painting skill is also incredible. They're breathtaking in-hand/more lovely than even the pictures make them out to be, and I can't wait to play with them more and just keep touching them. Still, I'm reacting to the visuals at the moment/haven't read the …

I got the Fool's Dog tarot sampler app, and tried one of its readings that drew on a bunch of different decks. It was .... weird. I do sometimes read with multiple decks, but with thought-out positions and complementary themes... this was just random and hard to read. Maybe a deliberately put-together one would be better, but I suspect that there'd still be some disconnect. Previously I'd been thinking of putting together a frankendeck because I so often find that I dislike particular cards. So... maybe not. I don't want to diss Fool's Dog, though - the sampler is a nice way to test the idea of a digital deck. I bought their digital Gaian based on…

Sort of like your valedictory deck advice to the readers of these forums. It can be a deck you find very much essential to any Tarot collection, one which you found personally indispensable, or just one that you've fallen utterly in love with, which has been your most trusted companion for quite some time. For me it would be the Morgan Greer 😛

Anyone else read this interview with Mark Ryan? Not that I'm getting my hopes up. If it were straightforward it would already have happened as it has with the Celtic Shaman pack, so I assume the question of who owns the rights to the Greenwood art is maybe not clear cut.

TAROT of the OLD PATH is beautiful, I like the kind of pagan/nature aspects, but it just missed the mark for being what I look for in a reading deck. I COULD read with it, just wasn't one of the decks that just flowed for me. Anyone else have a deck that JUST missed the mark once you got it?

My oldest deck is a Rider Waite Smith that I bought from the local hippie shop when I was about 15. I never learned to read with it, and when I unearthed it many years later when I was again feeling the call to learn tarot, I couldn't manage to connect with it. (The first deck that I really connected with and therefore learned to read with was Kris Waldherr's Goddess Tarot, which I still love!) Since starting to read I pull out my RWS occasionally to look at the symbolism, but I still don't read with it. But lately...I've been feeling more drawn to the RWS, and I'm wondering if maybe a different version of the deck or perhaps a clone would work better for me. Since a …
